NEVER BOOK A BALLOON FLIGHT THROUGH VIRGIN - EVER
Appalling service (or rather, complete lack of service) received from Virgin Balloon Flights. What was supposed to be a special celebration for my honeymoon, purchased in 2022, has turned into a multi-year saga of endless cancellations, financial exploitation, and abysmal customer care.
The history of this booking is utterly disgraceful. Since 2022, this flight has been rebooked and cancelled numerous times. Understanding that ballooning is weather-dependent, I remained patient. I even paid an additional fee to upgrade to weekend flights to ensure we could actually take this trip. Yet, every single time, the company failed to deliver.
The final insult came when I discovered that my voucher had been marked as "expired." My last booking attempt was in August, after which operations closed down for the winter season. It is logical for me not to book a flight during months when flights do not operate. When I attempted to call and book yet again in January, I was met with another barrier, lack of suitable slots. I then requested to have a refund but this also was refused. I called a few months ago and found the vouchers were marked as expired, I was offered a "deal" to pay more money just to have more tickets and the vague "possiblity" of a flight. This is frankly insulting.
I submitted a formal complaint in July 2026 - it's now almost October with no reply. This doesn't surprise me with the quality of service this company offers.
Do not give them any money they will take it and run. You have been warned.

We’re sorry to read how disappointed you're feeling and that the balloon flight you planned for your honeymoon has still not happened after several attempts. We fully appreciate how frustrating and upsetting weather cancellations can be when the flight is to celebrate a special occasion.
We take your statement that you submitted a complaint in July and have not received a reply seriously. That is not the service we want you to experience and we would appreciate it if you could call us on 01952 212750 or email us at customerservice@virginballoonflights.co.uk with your voucher details so that we can look into this further for you.
Unfortunately, we cannot currently identify your account from this review, so we cannot check your cancellation history, voucher dates or complaint, or explain the decision made on your refund request so we look forward to hearing from you so that we can have the opportunity to hopefully turn things around for you.
For clarity, our flying season generally runs from March to October each year, but a voucher’s expiry date is a book by date. You can book during winter for an available flight later in the flying season.
When we cancel a booked flight, we extend the voucher so there are at least six months from that cancellation to book another flight.
A weekend upgrade gives access to weekend flight dates, subject to availability. Unfortunately, it cannot guarantee that a flight will go ahead, as our pilots must make the final decision based on safe flying conditions.

Peter Philpott was an excellent pilot, he was informative, and carefully explained what was happening every step of the way. He also involved us throughout the launch and landing process and was firm but fair with his instructions/requests.
This was my third got air balloon experience and was the best so far, particularly the gentle landing.

Totally enjoyed the whole experience
Totally enjoyed the whole experience, not a good passenger on a standard flight so was very surprised how much i enjoyed and learnt on the mornings flight. I think encouraging customers to assist in take off and packing away balloon was very good as you get first hand experience on how much work is involved in getting a flight airbourne!!! Had a great morning thank you Mike our pilot for the flight🤩

Everything was perfect!
We were so lucky on our first attempt to fly that the weather and conditions were perfect. That led to an unforgettable experience, but I have to mention the pilot Robert and his crew, particularly his son Lucas. They couldn't have done enough for us and were so experienced, Robert doing over 5,000 flights. We felt we were in safe hands and learnt so much from him during the flight.

Wonderful and serene
An excellent experience! The crew were both friendly and informative. Sarah our pilot was brilliant. She explained everything well, answering questions and giving great explanations as we went along. The location and flight were easy to get to and directions/instructions easy to follow. Although the landing was a bit bumpy, Sarah managed expertly. Helping to put the balloon away added to the fun of the experience.
