A Brilliant Flight, a Great Team… and an Unexpected Workout! 🎈💪
I had a brilliant time on our Virgin Balloon Flights trip with my brother-in-law. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish, made even better by our pilot, Nobby. He was friendly, knowledgeable and full of interesting facts, and I learnt so much from him throughout the flight.
It must also be noted that I got a proper workout that day, helping with both the setup and recovery of the balloon! Who knew a relaxing balloon flight came with a complimentary gym session? 😂
A truly memorable experience, plenty of laughs, and one I'd highly recommend. Thanks, Nobby and crew, for making it such a great day!

Thrilling experience
As a flight is often a one off it's difficult to compare however we felt that our Virgin flight was a thrilling, proffesional experience, Adrian the pilot was so reassuring and knowledgeable. The views from 3000ft were amazing.

The whole experience was amazing
The opportunity to participate in preparing the balloon for flight and packing away post flight enhanced the experience but it was quite physical. But we were encouraged only to join in if we felt able and there was no pressure to do anything. Russell the pilot and Chris the Crew leader were very professional and everything was well organised. The flight it self was amazing unlike anything you could imagine and something I would be excited to repeat.

Welcoming pilot and crew
Welcoming pilot and crew. Very well organised in the setting up of the ballon prior to flight. Very informative information delivered with humour from the pilot during the flight. Superb landing, and again very well organised in the recovery of passengers and packing away of the equipment. Thanks again, fot an outstanding day.

Nobby was the pilot for our fantastic flight, but it was the whole team that helped make it an unforgettable experience. We took off from Victoria Park in Bath to incredible views of the city. The basket was able to slowly spin so we could appreciate the entire view. We felt safe and the basket was comfortable, brilliant landing.
Be prepared for the possibility of cancellation due to the weather. We had a few of those, but it's easy to rebook.

Unforgettable experience
It was amazing! We loved how much they involved us when it came to preparing and packing away the balloon! The flight itself was so calm and views spectacular. Chris is a wonderful pilot, alongside his superb team (Ian and Cecil), had us laughing most of the time. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an adventure of a different kind!

The pilot and crew were really engaging and friendly making it a great experience. Having taken over 10 years to actually get up in the air after receiving my voucher as a gift I had hoped to fly over a landscape I knew, but last minute change to the back up site that was further away meant leaving home with 3 small children in tow at 5.30am instead of the expected 6.30am and flying over a countryside i wasn’t familiar with. It was also shorter than expected with only 30min airborne

Svar fra Virgin Balloon Flights
Hi,
Thank you for your review.
We’re delighted to read that our pilot and crew made the experience enjoyable, though we understand that after such a long wait, the change of launch site and shorter flight felt disappointing.
A 5.30am start with three little ones was certainly an extra effort, and we’re sorry the move meant you missed the familiar views you’d hoped for.
We’ve investigated your flight and can confirm it lasted 45 minutes, including launch and landing. We advertise flights as approximately one hour, with the duration depending on flying conditions and suitable landing opportunities. However, we appreciate that 45 minutes was shorter than you expected.
Thank you for sharing your feedback and for your kind words about the team, we really appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the experience overall 🎈

Hard work but enjoyable!
Firstly, once we made it on to a flight it was an absolutely amazing experience! The pilot Tom was knowledgeable and friendly. As were the other two people helping. We had booked to launch from Bakewell but this got moved to Buxton, which was further for us to go but all do-able. I understand some people didn’t like the setting up and putting away part of the experience and when you book this the write up does say that is optional - but basically it wasn’t. You were compelled to help. So don’t book this if you don’t want to get stuck in and help! We enjoyed it and it was part of the fun! Be warned that it isn’t easy getting in and out of the basket. I have a bad knee and getting out was difficult and other than the foot holes in the side of the basket there is no step to assist. I have deducted a star for the simple fact that it is difficult to actually get on the flight due to the number of cancellations. I got the voucher for my birthday in 2022 and had 8 cancellations in 4.5 years. I never realised it would be so difficult to actually enjoy the experience! We nearly gave up after cancellation number 8 but wouldn’t get a refund so persevered, but I have to say it is worth it! Flight was supposed to be an hour. We only got just under 55 minutes.

Hi Hazel,
Thank you for your review, although we're sorry we didn't earn those 5 stars on this occasion (sad face).
We’re glad to read that your flight with Tom and the crew was worth the wait and that you enjoyed getting stuck in.
We’re so sorry it took so many attempts to get you airborne. Eight cancellations is understandably frustrating, and we really appreciate your perseverance and for sticking with us.
We advertise the flight as approximately one hour, so the exact time in the air can vary depending on flying conditions and finding a suitable, safe landing spot but we apologise if you were left feeling a little disappointed with the duration.
Helping with the balloon is indeed optional but we’re sorry you felt compelled to take part. We appreciate that this part of the experience isn't for everyone.
We also appreciate your feedback about getting out of the basket with your knee. If anyone has a physical injury or medical condition, we always recommend discussing this with us before booking. We can explain what the experience involves, including getting in and out of the basket, so they can make an informed decision about whether it’s suitable for them or not.
Thank you for your thoughtful review and we’re delighted you found the flight itself absolutely amazing!
Wishing you all the best!
