I cancelled my insurance a month prior to it running out and they charged me a $25 fee for cancelling my insurance. This is crazy, should I have just let it lapse and left them to cancel which would look bad on me?? I've had great experience with Allstate so far but National General seems to be SCAM artists. So with this being said and you still get National General you get what you deserve in lessons learned. STAY AWAY FROM NATIONAL GENERAL INSURANCE.
Customer service is nonexistent. I emailed and called for over 3 weeks with no reply. When I authorized the work to be done they denied saying it had to be approved ahead of time. I have been a customer for 5 yrs with no-interaction until now. My recent experience with Progressive was so much better. I wish I would have read these reviews before doing business with them.

Please Please don't buy their insurance. One of the worst company I had from last 10 years. Never had that kind of their experience. I bought their insurance but unfortunately Had to cancel it because I had no vehicle. On signing up they didn't show me any terms and conditions all they gave me a insurance card. Upon cancellation after 4 days they have deduct half of that amount that I paid for which make no sense.
This is by far the worst insurance company. They are scams, and will not pay claims, and then raise your insurance really high without prior notice and claim that they don’t know why it went up. My insurance through them started off as $118, but then I added 2 vehicles which brought it up to $436. Two months later I added a 4th vehicle in which my insurance dropped to $331 a month, and so I was paying $331 for a year, but then I got my bill last month and my monthly rate went from $331 to $697 and they couldn’t tell me why it went up, so I told them to cancel the policy if they think they will get almost $700 from me for just liability. Everyone please do not get insurance from this company.
Stay away. I cancelled my insurance 4 days before it was set to renew as I sold my camp trailer. Because I did the responsible thing and cancelled it instead of letting it lapse, they charged me a $20.00 fee to cancel. Customer service is terrible and not helpful at all. Shame on you for tacking on extra fees.
My car insurance was up for renewal in December. My husband passed away in late November. With everything happening, I simply renewed it because I had no time to shop around, even though it had gone up over a thousand dollars for no apparent reason. I found a better rate through GEICO for half the price. So, in January, I called to cancel it. They told me I had to call the agent. I called them and canceled without any problems. Three weeks later, I received a bill for $268.00. They are charging me a 10% cancellation fee. No one mentioned this to me when I canceled it. I called and told them about my husband's death and the situation I was in; they said it was too bad, and if I don't pay by March 22, they will send it to collections. That means one month of insurance will cost me over $500.00. I have never heard of such a thing. I have been with them for almost five years. I guess that's what I get for staying all these years with them. As they told me, if you would not have renewed with us, we would not have charged you this fee. Run away from this company. They have nothing but rude customer service reps and threaten you with creditors. My husband didn't have life insurance, so it has been difficult. I don't need this.
High premium and when you moved to other insurance you still owed them. Don't fall to this insurance if you can
Canceled my insurance policy with national general insurance policy on 1/17/24. Payment was due on 1/13/24 and they still put the full payment. And for 4 days of insurance this so call insurance company charges me $54.00 for 5 days of insurance.This so called insurance company still pulled money out of my account and they want refund me for 5 to 10 and that overdraft my account. Scam scammer and the agent I talked to was Laura Cox very rude unprofessional.
Worst Customer service ever. I would give 0 out of 5 if I could. What to expect if you get to an accident. They do not return any phone calls and or emails. Don't expect for your claim to get resolved with in 90 days. They will deny your claim at first even though you are not at fault. They might accept your claim after a few complaints. Don't expect for them to communicate with the repair facility. They will write a Mickey Mouse estimate just to get you started. I would definitely recommend changing your policy to Kemper.
National General Insurance has the WORST customer service EVER! I filed a claim with Esurance almost 3 weeks ago when my vehicle was stolen. They pawned my claim off on National General. They do not answer the phone. They do not respond to voice messages. They just flat out ignore you! They are complete and total TRASH!
I purchased my home/auto from national general thru Goosehead Insurance located in Westlake Texas ( outside of Dallas) The process has been annoying and frustrating. I can’t blame everything on Nat Gen, some has been credited to Goose head's sloppy customer service

If I could rate this with zero stars, I would. The policy was canceled and paid in full, however the company insisted a payment be made. I went to THEIR website and copied THEIR "paid-in-full" statement after receiving a second notice to contact a collection agency. WARNING TO THE WISE.
Horrible company Horrible agent was told my plan covered appointments and prescriptions but that wasn't the case. I'm a military spouse who lost my insurance so got this and got screwed with a 5000 bill I can't pay. My insurance agent wouldn't cancel my policy after putting me in it but thankfully I canceled myself because he was useless and so is this company. They aren't helpful don't cover anything and now I'm stuck with a bill I can't pay. I wouldn't recommend this company or using Mark Mills. Now I have no insurance no money and I can't get the Dr. Help I need for my major health concerns.
I'm a current customer. The company fixed my car without any problems. However, the poor customer service forced me to look elsewhere. I complained to Sr managers. But, got nowhere. Here's the good, bad, and the ugly from my experience.
Good - vehicle repaired, payment made to autobody, car returned without any issues.
Good - Inexpensive, but had to pay the deductible on a no-fault accident.
Very, Very, Bad - Poor customer service. Don't expect any follow up. No matter how much you ask. Even if you call the senior managers. Ugh, I hate this place.
Bad - Policy Exclusions: If your car is stolen, damaged, and returned, the damage to the vehicle will not be covered if there is no sign of forced entry. This includes the use of electronic key hacking and entry.
Bad - Be prepared to pay your deductible on all accidents. No matter who is at fault.
Bad - You cannot choose your own body shop.
If you are skeptical, which I often am about online reviews. Go read the policy. That alone is a problem. Add poor customer service and watch your blood pressure rise to new heights.
