National General replied to my review…

National General replied to my review and suggested that I reach out to an email address that they provided for help, which I did. After 3 full business days and no answer I emailed again and was told that due to security procedures, they could not engage with me as I was not the person who was affected by the accident. I polity responded to them that as I was paying for the repairs to my daughter's car, that I was affected by the accident and that I would forward the email to my daughter. At which point, they did not respond to the email. I have my daughter's permission to try and recoup the funds for the repairs to her car as she works full time and by the time she gets off work it is too late to get in touch with anyone, and we are covering the repair cost. They are horrible about returning calls and answering e-mail's. I feel that we will not get any results no matter what. Just want to let people know of the situation, so that you will be better informed.

Terrible!!!

Terrible!!!! They are all scammers!! Who ever you talk to at National General will try their best to get any dollar from you. Cancelled through email to the agency National General provided one day before end of policy, I sent several emails and never received a response, got worried so I called, which I don’t want because I prefer everything to be documented. I got directed to a woman that might have been on call because she was clearly having a bbq with her family and I heard them all yip-yapping. I told her of the situation and she cancelled the policy right there because it hadn’t yet. Then she’s trying to get me to pay 65$usd for cancelling early. I was baffled because I told her I just didn’t not want to renew and she tried to scare me that if I didn’t pay it would go to collections, she got the wrong one because I wasn’t going to pay anything to her or the company. I literally had to tell her ‘no’ about 5 times until she said I would need to speak to another associate, but I hung up and went back to emailing again. I wrote a very long email and they responded with I owe now $40usd. I wrote another long email and the next day it was at $0. But then I get another email that was not encrypted some link to go to, but they are not gonna fool me, so I went to my account and it said $0, everything was paid in full.
Basically I would be weary about this company, their agents are money hungry too. And policies prices fluctuate every month, just terrible!!

Won't pay

Super slow to call, update or anything. Claim is going on one and a half months with no resolve. They just keep the delay going.

Very unprofessional - RUN

I was hit by one of their customers and a estimate was done 12/23/25. I received an email from National Estimate Service Team with Zach Sturm with Nest Estimating Team and have not received a call back in over a week. I left a vm with June Rauscher 216-350-5894 an no call back. I was not at fault and I am trying to find away to get my car fixed without involving my insurance Progressive but it seems I have to file a police report for the accident. This place is terrible with communication and I even called and left a voicemail for their supervisor Sara Truit 336-435-2200 and NO CALL BACK to obtain my claim. I have included all numbers so people know this is a REAL review. Please do not do business, obtain insurance and any business just call the police or let the insurance deal with National General Insurance. Terrible and not even worth 1 star.

Call a lawyer

This place always wants you to contact them to resolve a problem which they are the problem that needs to be resolved in the first place. Contact a lawyer because the resolution they are going to come up with is not going to help. This place will take full advantage of you tell you you're unable to record your conversation.So that they're the only ones that can change the conversation on the recorded side that they are using.

STILL NOT REFUNDED - THEY PUT A STOP PAY ON IT!!

12/18/2025: Their response is almost funny.
What is there to better understand than the fact I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN REFUNDED?
Knowingly send me two checks written on FROZEN & BLOCKED ACCOUNT.
My credit union contacted Chase bank and was apparently told the 2nd chek was ok, so my CU deposited the chek. Only for Chase to put a STOP PAY on it and take the money back. The ACH NEVER happened!!
So, not only have you NOT REFUNDED my $xxxx.00, your costing me overdraft fees... a senior on fixed income. GIVE ME MY MONEY SO I CAN GET ON WITH MY LIFE.
Oh, and I did email CommunityCare per their response. They asked for add'l info which was provided; no response.

12/16/2025: UPDATE: THEY PUT A STOP PAY ON THE ACH AND OVERDRAFTED MY ACCOUNT
Standing in line to pay for merchandise, unlock my card and MY ACCOUNT IS OVERDRAWN. They put a stop pay on the ACH and took the money back!!

OMFG!!!! Who sends their policyholders FRAUDULENT 2 CHECKS WRITTEN ON A KNOWN FROZEN & BLOCKED ACCOUNT?????
Found different insurance and terminated thru NGIC and they refunded my $x,xxx.xx in a check that was rejected via remote deposit thru my own credit union.
Called and reported it, so they send me another check and the same damn thing! FROZEN BLOCKED ACCOUNT. wtf? Went directly to JP Morgan Chase and was informed that in fact... ACCOUNT IS FROZEN AND BLOCKED. No money can go into that account & no money can come out of that account. Why do they continue to issue refund checks on an account that they know is worthless as the paper they wrote it on? Called again and they now said an ACH will be issued. 3 days later and nothing!!!!! Ripping off senior citizens that PAY THEIR PREMIUMS IN FULL.

A nightmare experience that feels like a scam. Avoid at all costs.

I was sold a policy for National General through "All About Insurance," and it has been the worst consumer experience of my life. I paid a premium price ($1,600+ upfront for 6 months) for what turned out to be a broken, predatory service.

Broken Technology: Their website is non-functional. It consistently failed on Chrome and Firefox; I had to use Safari and wait ages just to log in. Because of their glitchy payment portal, I once accidentally paid my $1,600 premium twice. It took them 5 months to refund my money.

Hidden Billing & Threats: Despite paying 6 months in advance and signing up for paperless billing, I constantly received threatening letters for "random" extra amounts. These charges never appeared on the online portal or in emails, only in physical mail, which is impossible to track if you travel or move.

Predatory Tactics: Even after cancelling and moving countries, they are now sending debt collectors for a small "glitch" amount ($110) that I was never notified about. It feels like they deliberately make the billing confusing to squeeze extra money out of customers, especially those who aren't American and might be confused by the system.

I am genuinely relieved I never had an accident, because if their billing department is this incompetent and aggressive, I have zero faith they would have paid out a claim. Do not use this company.

This has got to be worse car insurance…

This has got to be worse car insurance anyone could ever get. And if you do and a Kaitlyn Jagear or her supervisor Chris gets involved in your case they will not pay like they’re supposed to do. They owe me way over a $1000 and can’t get hold of either one. They’re both rude as hell. My Attorney is in the picture now and I will get all my money.

Garbage

By far the most shady and disgusting insurance company I have ever dealt with. I wish there was a negative number you could put up here. Will use gray line areas in your policy to deny your claim. My rep closed my claim and never made any communication with me either text email or phone call. Not until I voiced about getting an attorney did any one call and then he gave a pathetic lying excuse that he had just received the paperwork saying the claim was closed yet he was the reviewer. If you have them get rid of them because they are garbage.

On March 22

On March 22, 2025, while on my way to visit my 86-year-old father, I was hit by an uninsured driver who ran a red light. Police officers, firefighters, and EMTs arrived at the scene, and the police report confirmed that the accident was entirely the other driver’s fault.

My car was totaled, and I sustained several physical injuries. I went to the emergency room for evaluation and then followed a months-long course of chiropractic treatment.

I filed a claim through my insurance company, National General, and the experience was a nightmare. I had to work with two separate departments—one handling my vehicle damage and the other managing my bodily injury claim.

The department responsible for my car was responsive, professional, and empathetic. However, the department handling my physical injuries was horrendous. Sam Frederick, the Bodily Injury Claims Representative, created one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had with any insurance company. His lack of empathy, failure to return calls or emails, and consistently unprofessional, condescending tone made an already difficult situation even worse.

I frequently had to escalate my concerns and contact his supervisor just to get a response. His initial estimates for my injury, pain, and suffering were unreasonably low, forcing me to repeatedly provide documentation and evidence to justify the extent of my trauma and ongoing pain.

Needless to say, I canceled my policy after the claim was finally settled. I decided to write this review so others are aware that National General employs representatives who lack empathy, professionalism, and basic customer service skills.

National General, please take better care of your policyholders and carefully select your representatives so you don’t continue to lose customers. Sam Frederick provided an unacceptable and deeply disappointing experience.

WorsT claims service ever

WorsT claims service ever. Paid me half of what my damages were. Never could speak to anyone only could text or email. In an email they blamed the claim settlement on what a third party tells them they should pay and they told me I could not even contact the third party to see how they came up with the ridiculously low payment.

customer service designed to ignore any complains

I have an expensive full coverage insurance policy. I had an accident that damaged my bumper and the liftgate of my car. They only agreed to pay for the repair of the bumper although the body shop confirmed the liftgate was also damaged. I have proof it was working fine prior to the accident. The worse is the horrible customer service, they have not answered any of my emails nor return any of my calls.

I was given a good quote for my auto…

I was given a good quote for my auto insurance. And I also did my homeowners through them with a bundle. I paid them the full amount for my homeowners insurance. And what they did was pull out both insurances together monthly, and then I had to pay $373 a month, instead of paying the full amount for my homeowners insurance and then charging me the 193 that they were supposed to charge me a month through my car insurance, I got a ridiculous monthly price. I cannot wait for this to be up so I can go with another company I hate their payment plan. Had I known they were doing this I would've never gone with them
