Terrible

Terrible. You only pay them to say you have insurance. They lie and say your set for auto payments, then never auto draft and send you a email saying your coverage is about to end. Then they slap on fees...do not get coverage from this company.

Do not recommend

I have a policy with national general, and I was involved in a motor vehicle accident in March. I had to email the claims department just to get a response (3 weeks after the accident) from my agent. She was not very personable just monotone and all she kept asking me is if anyone else drives my car. Now all I keep getting is mail from Mel Solano (senior consultant) threatening to drop me. They have yet to ask for photos of the vehicles, nor if I was even ok. This company is terrible in handling claims. I am covered under my policy and I was the one driving my car when the accident occurred yet that is of no concern to them. The company doesn't care about anyone it's greedy people are only in for the millions that they take from us. Thinking about getting a lawyer, for sure Morgan and Morgan office in my town. This is a sad situation that I am sure a lot of other people are facing as well. After this situation if it's not handled soon I may be looking for another company as well as my family members and friends whom are blown away by this treatment.

Don't waste your time or money on this sham/scam company!

We purchased this insurance in September 2025. We filed a claim the beginning of April 2026. After 14 days we still have not received any correspondence regarding the claim other than a text from our adjuster stating "I will be unavailable for an extended period of time and do not have a return date at this time. Please refrain from calling. Emails and voicemails will be reviewed and responded to in the order received upon my return". Totally unacceptable! She gave us no one to contact in her absence and trying to reach someone on any of the numerous numbers provided on their website is ridiculous. I was finally able to "chat" with someone on their website and she gave me the same number to call that we have tried numerous times. The phone hangs up before you can leave a message. I don't know what 3rd world country they operate out of, but I would definitely not recommend anyone waste their time or money on this sham of a company. And Allstate should remove their name from any affiliation with National General.
Pissed off is an understatement at this point and we will be cancelling our policy ASAP!

avoid national general

I asked the before i signed up for there services if i would be charged for cancellation today i cancelled and they charged me a early cancellation fee. Don't trust them if they say otherwise

My first experience as a customer and…

My first experience as a customer and the customer service was terrible. My brother had an accident in his car which is not insured under my policy. He is an excluded driver and can not drive my car. Consultant Aaliyah stated he was under my policy due to him being excluded from my insurance?!?. She even sent communication to him referencing my policy number as his insurance. This employee is rude, unprofessional, has no follow through, I requested her Supervisor, Christine. The Supervisor did not return my call to advise the status. As of now I still have no idea what is going on with this claim because no one is answering or calling me back. For anyone reading this DO NOT pick up National General Insurance. I had no idea the company is this terrible. October I am switching my insurance carrier.

THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST INSURANCE…

THIS IS, BY FAR, THE WORST INSURANCE COMPANY EVER! NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING. 3 DAY, AFTER BOTH AGENT AND I MADE NUMEROUS CALLS TO FIGURE PUT WHY I THE CLAIM FOR WINDSHIELD DAMAGE HAD NOT GONE THROUGH. I WAS GIVEN INCORRECT PHONE NUMBERS FOR AUTO REPAIR SERVICES OR THEY WERE OUT OF THE AREA. THERE WAS NO CONSISTENCY IN INFORMATION AND IT IS A THREE PARTY SYSTEM. THIS THIRD PARTY WILL BE THE ADJUSTER . THE ADJUSTER SENDS YOU A LINK AND YOU DO ALL THE WORK. AND IT IS UNNECESSARY IMFORMATION THEY REQUEST FOR “SECURITY”? A WINDOW LOGO FOR SECURITY ?

FINALLY THEY PUSHED THROUGH AND 1 MINUTE LATER I GET A CALL FROM THE WINDOW REPAIR SHOP THAT I DID NOT CHOOSE.

THE SHOP I ORIGINALLY REQUESTED HAD RECEIVED THE CLAIM AND CALLED ME TO SCHEDULE BUT THEY CANCELED IN THE MIDDLE OF MY CALL WITH HIM

OH AND THEY SAID THE WIMDOW REPAIR DOES ADJUSTMENT AND THAT IS NOT TRUE

NATIONAL GENERAL IS THE MOST CORRUPT, UNPROFESSIONAL INSURANCE COMPANY I HAVE EVER EVER WORKED WITH

PERSONALLY, I AM THINKING A CLASS LAW SUIT FOR TRYING TO PSYCHOLOGICAL ABUSE TALK ANOUT MANIPULATION AND GASLIGHTING

I DO THINK THE AGENTS WERE DOING THEIR BEST BUT THE CORPORATION, THE BIGGY WIGS MAKING MONEY ARE SHADY

Abrupt policy changes and cancellation= theft

I paid for a year upfront then almost a month later they not only cancelled my policy with a letter giving me a couple days notice but also went up on the premium by almost $300 and still hadn't told me that part. So I'm having to pay out of pocket for another policy while I wait for them to give me back the rest of my money and even though I paid upfront they're going to charge me for that first month with the amount the abruptly changed the total to. That is dishonest and effectively theft! I will be looking into what actions I can take, this is not ok.

HORRIBLE INSURANCE - AVOID

If I could give no stars, I would. DO NOT USE NATIONAL INSURANCE FOR AUTO. WORST Experience by far. Both Rosa Gamino and Sarin Cornett are awful at their jobs with awful customer service. Both myself and the auto body shop who did the repairs of my car are absolutely shocked and disappointed at how this insurance company handled our situation. They disappeared and even went to the point of disconnecting their phone when my car was at the body shop. Nobody else from the insurance could help because sadly Sarina is the higher up/manager. We just had to wait and leave the car at the shop for an extra few days after being completed because this insurance refused to answer phone calls to finalise the final repair. I even had to pay extra out of pocket just to get the car home. Rosa claimed I would be reimbursed but obviously disappeared again and refusing to call me or the body shop back. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Have also been told by the body shop that this is normal for NG Insurance, they always treat their customers this way. And make the whole process extra stressful. Still trying to get my reimbursement with no luck, hopefully this review will prompt someone from the company to call me because I have sent endless emails and left plenty of voicemails. So far, unable to reach anyone from this ridiculous insurance company.

This is the worst insurance company I…

This is the worst insurance company I have delt with. My accident happened on March 31st. It took over a week for me to finally get in contact with the claims rep. I must have called the 800 15 times and was able to get her on the phone. She told me that they needed me to move my car to one of there body shops or else my claim would not be 100% covered. I told her that my car was going to stay at the dealership because a Body shop can not replace a fuel tank!! The adjuster came out on April 9th to take pictures and I have called and texted the number that was provided and I'm unable to get a hold of anyone and my text messages are no longer being delivered. They have no problem taking my money every month but when i need them no one to assist. Beware of this company!! And that lame response you get from AI after leaving a bad review is joke.

I will Gladly give them Zero Stars , the customer service is horrible and they will accept at claim but when you take it for repair they want to tell the dealership how much they think it’s worth charging so they will change the amount leaving you with a last minute bill at the dealership, DONT GIVE THEM ANY BUSINESS THEY ARE HORRIBLE AND UNACCOMMODATING…my assigned Adjuster Anthony White was Horrible you would think he pays the claims from his own pocket ….and the person in charge of my claim Jacob B his attitude was disgraceful, I’ve never experienced this and never will I again Today is my last day with this horrible company !!! All the Money I pay for insurance this is a rip off!!

Tried to pay my claim the cheapest they can do ..

I almost had an accident 3 weeks ago & my rear end tire almost came off while driving @ IS15 though i never get hurt since i manage to full over my jeep quick , i called for a towing service as provided by my insurance ( General National) and dropped off to the dealership for repair . after 10 days i got an estimate that cost 8400$ parts and labor & ask me to contact my insurance for it , so i contacted them and talked to the assigned adjuster and on the 4th day an adjuster showed up at the dealership to check my jeep & i have to follow up multiple times on the status of my claim then after almost morethan a week i managed to contact my Adjuster and ask fir the status of my claim she sent me an email with an attachment of their own estimate .. dealer estimate is around $ 8k ‘ while National General. Adjuster had it at around $3600 parts & labor minus $ 1000 deductible & 20% of the total amount & ended up with an amount of 1800$ I was so surprise with the outcome because i have to pay 6000$ out of my pocket to cover the repair which is a lot of money for an ordinary people like me & my insurance don’t want to settle this in a fair manner . So disappointed & very stressful experience with National General the way they handled my claim i felt that they sent me an estimate the cheapest possible they can.

Policy Cancellation Error Led to Unauthorized Charge

I canceled my auto insurance policy at the Sanford location on March 17 and received written confirmation. Despite this, the policy was not properly terminated and auto-renew remained active, resulting in an ACH debit of $255.76 on April 1.

I ultimately had to drive to the office in person to resolve the issue. During that visit, they acknowledged the error and had me sign a document confirming retroactive cancellation, with a refund to be issued by mail.

This situation required significantly more time and effort than it should have, including follow-ups and escalation. I recommend that anyone canceling a policy here carefully verify that auto-pay and renewal have been fully disabled and monitor their account closely afterward.

Customer service during this process was inconsistent, which made resolution more difficult than expected.

This issue originated at the Direct Auto Insurance Sanford, FL location

Very unprofessional with car accident claims!!!!

I had to send this email to Joshua.Powell, due to no response over the past 8+ months! “ Hello, I have called you, emailed you, and left multiple voicemails to your phone number over 50 plus times, with no response from you. I still haven’t received a call back, email response, or anything!!!! “ I am ready to close my Car accident case asap, but he’s ignoring me!!!!!

This company should be shut down!!!! Their customer service is horrible they are rude they lie and they will just cancel you for no reason and claim you owe them money they are thieves!!! After this I will be reporting them to BBB you can’t treat hard working people like this you are down right criminals!!! YOU owe me money and if I have to hire a lawyer you bet you ass I will!!!! Get your crayons!

I have to call this company 5 times to get something fixed. Each time each change takes so long to get them to follow. Changed RV's nope still insuring the wrong one. Then you call and they act like they never received the change. Updating auto pay. Forget it.... we are 4 months into that. It is beyond frustrating! They don't get it. Customer service.... doesn't exist!
