2022 Toyota Yaris at a really good price,car really fuel efficient and with radar cruise,excellent for South Island highways,plus friendly helpful staff.

This is the second time I have used Mode's services. They have been very professional and attentive. Pricing is also very reasonable. I would highly recommend their services.

Ray helped me as a new resident to Wellington New Zealand. My background in 5 star hotel management back in the UK and now currently a nurse. I had never driven a hire car or an automatic or been in NZ he was very patient and knowledgeable about the service and my options.

Once I arrived I was met with a professional person who gave plenty of instructions. I then had to extend my car hire not once but 2 times and again explaining all the options and again being patient as I clarified everything.

As I was unable to extend the same car I was given the same model to keep me comfortable, I met with Dakota he was also helpful.

On returning the car it was like meeting a familiar face and Ray was again professional and helpful explaining what happens next.

The cars were clean and comfortable and I thank Ray for his assistance during a stressful time. He is an asset to your team and delivers great service. Well done Team Wellington I appreciate you.

Fantastic quick friendly service and super compedititve price!

Make sure to read the fine print when renting from MODE rentals in Auckland. Make sure to pay the harbour bridge toll BEFORE crossing or they will charge you $30 even if you paid it after crossing it! Also ensure to take careful photos of the the vehicle when you pick it up and return it. Not impressed!

dont deal with mode rentals ever ,or economy rentals

The staff were friendly, professional and very helpful.
The vehicle, a Toyota Corolla Hybrid Hatchback was very reliable and economical.

Booked a rental car from Mode. Pick up from Wellington Airport. Very smooth booking, great service by airport team (including pick up and drop off). Car was clean and mechanically sound. Great little unit.

Would certainly use Mode again.

We had an excellent experience with Mode rentals. Easy to book online, excellent value for our 3 month rental, quick and professional customer service.

We came to Rotorua NZ on 25 April 2026 for a 7 day holiday arriving in Auckland. As soon as we got to Mode Car Hire, the transaction was quick and easy and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We got the 10 seater Large Toyota Hi-Ace which was right for our need. It was affordable and has all the luxury and comfort for our adventure. Our holiday was all worth it with a great buddy on the road. Thank you, Mode Car Hire! Definitely, highly recommend!

Car was great clean and tidy.

However we had bad service with the workers, we got charged a late pick up fee of $50 which when we asked about why we were being charged was cause the car was picked up late due to our flight being delayed out of our control. we then asked the team to show us in their terms and conditions where it states there will be a late fee as we looked through the terms and conditions and could not fine any statement of there being a late pick up fee. when asking the staff about this he was rude and dismissive toward us and then proceeded to say i will email you with it highlighted, which we never received and got made that out complaint was just disregarded in a very rude way was not a good end to our trip.

Our little corolla was nice and clean. Airport pick up was prompt, team was lovely and friendly and they even dropped us back at the airport outside of hours. Will definitely use them again.

Great service from start to finish. No issues whatsoever and this was the second time we used this company.

Mode Auckland Airport charged $120 for a windscreen chip they claimed they found after clear return inspection without preadvising us of thedamage and after their claimed inhouse repair. Our front seat passenger adamant no damage. Eventually refunded after complaint to third party.
This was their explanation -


Following a further internal review, we can now advise that an error occurred during the post‑return assessment process. Specifically, there was not a sufficiently thorough check to establish if the windscreen chip found on your hire return was or was not pre-existing at the commencement of your hire. On further investigation, it appears that it was pre-existing and had already been previously repaired. There was also some internal confusion around whether there had been a subsequent repair on the windscreen of the vehicle you had on hire

Excellent service during pickup from airport, pickup van, documentation, as well as orientation drive within compound site not experience in driving such model.

van performance during the drive was excellent. No problem encountered.

Good customer service and communication at all stages of the rental. Two issues
1. is arranging pick up and return - would be vastly improved with a depot at the airport.
2. after hours service via 3rtd party is not all that great as third party doesn't really care - they just keep the envelope!
