Very poor experience with BP Pulse.

Very poor experience with BP Pulse.

My BMW charging cable became stuck in their charging unit (Charger ID: FC18087), which meant I had to purchase a replacement cable at my own cost. Their support team acknowledged the issue and confirmed in writing that the cost would be reimbursed.

I provided the invoice on 12 February 2026. Since then, I have followed up multiple times and raised a formal complaint, but over a month later I still have no reimbursement, no refund for the original charging session, and no clear timeline.

Customer service responses have been slow and unhelpful, with repeated assurances but no action.

This has been extremely frustrating, especially as a new customer. Based on this experience, I would not recommend BP Pulse.

The customer service experience was excellent. The gentleman took his time to ensure I got my Charing session started. Even when the charger won't start from the app, he made sure to provide an alternative solution. It was a lifesaver. Quite literally. I have no qualms awarding him a 5 star for his professionalism

I usually use BP Pulse but need to find out how i can tell the difference of the speed for charging. I sometimes need a rapid charge but how do i tell from the App.

Hi Nigel, Thanks for your review. On the BP Pulse app, the chargers are usually labelled by speed:

Fast/AC is normally around 7kW
Rapid is usually 50kW
Ultra‑rapid can be 150kW+

If you tap on a charger in the app, it should show the power rating so you can pick the quicker ones when you need a rapid top‑up. It gets easier the more you use it! If you ever get stuck, just gives us a call! We are always happy to help.

Over priced. Bad service.

So many chargers don’t work.

The ones that do are massively overpriced. If prices were reasonable they’d see far more usage. So many of their chargers are not used or look abandoned. The pricing makes it completely unsustainable to use unless you’re desperate. And you’re only desperate a few times before you work out you need a different solution (sell electric car or find alternative charging).

I would take a star away as when I was…

I would take a star away as when I was at the Shankill charging point it dropped to 11kw when my car got to about 68% and then took another 45 minutes to get to 80 when it said 10 minutes wasn’t happy having to stay that extra when usually it takes 1 hour 20 for a full charge

Thanks for the feedback. Charging can slow right down once the battery gets past around 60–70%, and some cars taper earlier than others. I will, however, have our engineering team review the charger to see if there are any faults with it.

I have thirteen different charging apps…

I have thirteen different charging apps on my phone and have by far the worst experience using this particular app. Following the instructions to the letter it sets up all the way to not actually charging. I have many zero receipts for charging. If you want stress free charging, avoid this app

Bppulse are unreliable and do not release your pre-payment.

I tried to use bppulse to charge my EV. Enter all my details (including shoe size) and bank details. They withdrew £60 (higher than other EV charging companie) and the charger did not work!!! Tried the emergency "Help" phone number but no answer! Had to charge elsewhere. After 2 phones calls to bppulse and phoning my bank still not had my £60 back. It has been 17 days now. Bppulse say it is my bank's fault (???) but my bank has said they are waiting for bppulse to release the money. I have talked to other potential users who all state they avoid bppulse beacuse if problems.

They have since replied asking for further information via a link on Trustpilot but did not put a link!!! Amazing!!

Quite frankly

Quite frankly - awful. The charger nearest me (about 5 miles away) is always offline to charge and I have to phone them to reboot it. This takes around 15 mins in total. The other weekend it was 30 mins just to get through to a person. Support have the temerity to say it is just me that has a problem with this yet it is clearly a common problem as all support staff know exactly how to fix the issue. There have been a plethera of other issues - it is rare to actually plug in and charge and get a decent speed without something not being right. I would urge you strongly to read about other people's problems using bp pulse before subscribing. They have taken money out of my bank account despite having available credit on the app and telling me no money would be taken out. The list goes on and on,. Be warned!

bppulse charger shambles AVOID!

bppulse rapid charger at Alford Lincolnshire very unreliable. After loooong wait in queue staff can't reset it. Type 2 chargers in market place need bppulse card. Tried to pay online but no link to site on charger...it's buried deep in a webpage. When finally paid it wouldn't charge but took £60 deposit for the pleasure of the experience. The whole network is a shambles. Avoid whenever possible.

Ok however!

After a couple of tething troubles on first usage the system work well and the app updated with relevant information. My one sticking point is the high pre authorization of £60 per every use is a bit excessive for a multi national company given other providers are remarkably lower. Using a number of times over a number of days leaves a fair drain on your bank account.
Thanks for reply, now understand the process I am awaing the card, however I thought the app was acting as the same as card. Obviously must have been my misunderstanding.

Regarding the £60 pre auth, you can request a bp pulse card free of charge from the app that you can use to start and stop charge sessions. With the bp pulse card, you won't face the £60 pre auth.
