Top Battery 

I was concerned as after ordering this product on line, it was not until that time, that I read the many negative reviews purchasers had given too late to change my mind so a worrying few days. However, the Company kept me well informed, the product arrived within 3 weeks but pre advised that this was due to the Chinese New Year. Battery arrived, in good condition (New) not refurbrished, Fits my Dell i8100 charged and working very well. Will use this Company again. Do not usually write reviews but on this occasion I was very happy with their service and product. Sad that so many seem to be disappointed Feb 2012. If I had read the reviews first I would not have ordered and I am sure would have lost out on a good product. Tracking of order very helpful and reassuring.

The website address and 'Royal Mail' implies they are UK based but they are in Singapore and have no UK service centre - if you have a problem you are really stuck. They observe Singapore time and were not contactable over Chinese New Year. You can order direct from China for £10 less and the same lack of security.

Item arrived quite quickly considering I had ordered the item just before Christmas. Worked perfectly and continues to do so. Review not written sooner as had to do a bit of searching to find out which company I had ordered from that was listed in the UK, due to me contacting a number before purchase. Pleased I found it as I need a new battery for my other Laptop - which if the price is OK I shall be ordering from them again.

Do not use this company at any cost. They sent me a battery for my Acer laptop which didn't fit, when it eventually arrived. I thought I was buying from a UK company not from abroad. I queried the fact that it didn't fit and was fobbed off with lots of excuses about this being the first and only time they'd had trouble with this item; please return it for testing and so on. This rumbled on for so long, that my 30 day refund policy was, according to the, no longer valid. I disputed this and was told to return the battery which I did. One month later I had still had no contact so contacted them. I was asked to provide my postage proof so that they could find it!! I have done this and, one week later, have still heard nothing. What an absolute rip-off.

Like Ed, I ordered my battery (Sony VGP-BPS8) before I saw the reviews and assumed I'd thrown my money away. However, eleven days after ordering, the battery arrived, fits perfectly, was recognised by my lap-top, and so far, works as it should. Hopefully it will continue to do so. I decided to check the reviews when Pay Pal confirmed that my payment had been made to a Xianghua Luo, rather than a British company as I was expecting. Their e-mail address is a UK one and they display a post office symbol on their home page. (The GPO did provide the final leg of the journey.) The company is in fact based in Singapore. The web page from which I ordered my battery shows a picture of a Sony battery and I did think I was ordering a genuine Sony product. When I went back and read the small print, as I should have done at first, it was clear that this was not so. Given the price, I decided to sit tight and hope for the best.
The battery is made in China, appeared to be new, was well packaged and as I've said, so far so good. However, if this company wishes to achieve as they themselves say, '100% customer satisfaction' they need to be far more open and honest about who they are, where they are, and exactly what the product they are selling is. In view of this, despite my apparent success with them this time, I should be very wary of trading with them again.

I ordered with them, before reading the plethora of bad reviews. I instantly regretted my purchase, however, the battery I ordered arrived this morning and is exactly what I wanted. The price was half of what other retailers were asking and despite me ordering over the Christmas period, it arrived quickly! Maybe I got lucky, maybe only people who have had bad experiences decide to review the company, but despite the reviews, being based in China, and all the other problems, I cannot complain.

My battery was around the £30 mark so if you are ok with potentially this not working out, then go for it. The saving I made was worth the risk. For higher priced batterys then maybe play it safe.

I needed a new battery for my Dell Vostro laptop and the price from Dell was £137.99 so after shopping around for a cheaper alternative I decided on top-battery.co.uk - afterall with a .co.uk address surely they will be based in the UK and easy to deal with!! I wish I'd checked more thoroughly first - I usually do - but in this instance obviously not carefully enough. The battery took over 2 weeks to arrive and had been shipped from China. It 'sort of' fitted on to my laptop (big gap along the joining edge) but when I turned the laptop on I got a message stating that the computer didn't recognise the battery and would not charge from it. I contacted top-battery who asked me to mail it back to China at my own expense, they even asked me not to send it using one of the big carriers! My guess - they send out a duff battery, get £35 of your money - you send it back - they send it out again and again and as long as people keep sending it back at their own cost top-battery can send out the same duff battery continuosly until someone (me) refuses to lose another £10 by posting it back. I paid by Paypal so have opened a dispute and am hoping to get my money back that way. Avoid this company at all costs!!

I checked first but not closely enough as I find the fishy evidence only now. They sent me a battery but not the one I wanted, closely related, and when it didn't work said it should be compatible (it isn't which was to be my let out clause with Paypal if they hadn't been fraudulent) and to keep trying. When I asked for a refund they told me to send it back (to China!!) to be 'tested' at my expense (which is in the small print). The cost they estimated to do this £5-7 is less than half what it costs to send back recorded (if you send it back normal they can say it got lost). However I told them as it was clearly their mistake (wrong item, not compatible) and they should credit me the postage first. They insisted I send it back still at my expense so as I had paid by PaYPAL I claimed a refund. Waiting for this to be resolved now. Do not deal with these people. They claim to be UK based and even show a Royal Mail logo on delivery. I only contacted them as 2 suppliers I had contacted told me it was easier to buy replacement batteries on the internet and cheaper than going to ACER who charge £100+. Luckily the 3rd supplier who I spoke to told me about the top-battery scam - told me the battery was probably an old and discharged one, contact paypal for a refund, and told me they could supply me a new UK sourced one for £50. If I had known..........I am not saying they are frauds - they seem to go to a lot of trouble to be frauds - eg even send you something and engage in dialogue via e-mail, and even apparently have some fans here. but I think the batteries they supply are recycled and you can be unlucky and if you are it will cost you.......

Battery died after 2 months of use. On initial email to them got a response about what might damage a battery. When I responded to this that I had followed instructions got no response from them. I should have looked here first before buying from this China-based company. If they subsequently give me a refund I will be more than happy to amend this review.

Why do they pretend to be UK-based if they are a bona-fide trustworthy company?

Be careful with +ve reviews about this company! At least one looks as if it is written by a non-English speaker [from China???]

Do not buy / Do not buy. I am rating as 1 star only because I can't give it a zero.
This company is based in China and they are conning you into thinking they are based in the UK. I ordered my battery from them and recieved it quite quickly. The battery did not work and after contacting them they asked me to return the battery to China. I did this and lost the money for the postage as well. The website disappeared for a while and now I have seen that it is back. I don't want anyone to loose their money so please please do not waste your money.

Avoid this company like the plague. I have never known a company to have so many postal issues.. this is the 21st century not the dark ages, postal service are 99% spot on nowadays.. have waited over two months for my battery to arrive.. I wonder if it ever got sent!!! dispute with paypal now.
Oh and a word to anyone who chances their arm with these guys after 45 days with paypal its very difficult to claim back from them hence they keep making the excuses to send again...

My battery had not been received after 2 months due to an error at the post office. The post office returned it to the company and they have received it, but they will only offer to resend it, although they had previously agreed to refund me. A battery which I ordered in December is no use to me now as I had to get another one as I could not wait forever.

I would not order from this company or any other not based in the UK as they seem to ignore completely the law on distance selling.

I too was surprised to find the company was situated in China and was trading with a .co.uk address. However, when I contacted them they responded immediately and my battery arrived within a fortnight. I was also able to track it and know where it was. All in all, I was very satisfied with the service. Gave 4/5 stars because I felt the company should inform buyers of their business location.

As mentioned before the batteries are send from Singapore so it took 10 days to arrive, but it is exactly what I ordered and it works even better than the original HP battery! The e-mail contact is also a bit slow and very informal, but they gave me the tracking number after 2 days from the payment. I recommend this company if you can wait for your battery as they are much cheaper than the others!

When i received my battery for my laptop, i left this on charge as that what they told me to do.

Then my laptop would not turn on after 12 hours of charge due to no charge in battery.

This was a faulty battery i am still trying to sort this out now a week later and they keep emailing me to try different things but still does not work.

Would never buy from them again!!!!

I am going to get a refund from them no matter what if not i will report them to trading standards.

I have just received a battery for a Dell Mini 10. The items was only a couple of days late and this was due to ordering over Christmas. I was given a tracking id that I could check on-line, and the customer service query I sent was responded to the same day. The item I purchased was the cheapest I could find anywhere on-line. I was not aware that the company was based overseas, but don't mind in the slightest as the service was excellent.

Despite the look of being UK based (Royal mail logos etc.) they are not - they are based in Singapore. Why try to put on a fake front? They claim fast shipment - nothing further from the truth. Over three weeks and I am still waiting. All I ever get is 'wait a few more days'. I have requested a refund - nothing so far. I would NOT recommendd ealing with this website

Received item late. Didn't work from day 1. Contacted company and had to provide details of what they had sent (you would have thought they would know!). Had to pay returns carriage of over £10 (to China!!!) as they refused to pay even though the item was faulty. Still have not paid. They couldn't even communicate in plain English and would not answer any questions. Have reported them to UK Trading Standards. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. WORST EVER. NO INTEGRITY OR CUSTOMER SERVICE. ABSOLUTE RUBBISH.
