Top Battery 

The battery I bought broke after only 1 week, they then sent me vague emails with stupid suggestions just to try to postpone things and fob me off.

Finally when it came to sending the faulty product back they requested me to send the product back but did not tell me they wouldn't refund me the price of shipping. Never trust these guys it is not worth it. Undoubtedly this will happen to many more people. Horrible customer service, their English is terrible, very difficult to communicate with.

I am a very unhappy customer, such a waste of money.

What's written below still stands, this is a year on update. The battery was pretty much what I expected for the ultra-cheap price - a stopgap. A year after buying it, it still works, but a full charge now lasts about 10 minutes. So my laptop is OK while plugged in, but I can't realistically use it unplugged, although it does give me enough to move from place to place etc. I have had no problems with over heating or some of the other things described on here. For me, the battery is not good quality, but probably, realistically, better quality than I would expect for twenty quid!


I read the reviews on here and had some reservations, but the prices were so low I thought it worth a risk and ordered a battery for my Toshiba Satellite. Despite the .co.uk address, the company is based in Singapore and my battery was shipped from there (the only reason they lose a star - they should be more open about this).
I received an e-mail the same day with a Singapore post tracking number, delivery took a week. The battery is as described (a compatible, not a Toshiba, which I expected for this price). It works and holds charge as described, I went for the cheapest option which lasts for between two and three hours on full charge depending what I'm doing.
I believe the rest of the reviews on this page, looks to me from the other reviews that this is not a rip-off company, just one with poor quality control and poor aftercare if things go wrong.
They are incredibly cheap and you get what you pay for. I thought £20 for a new battery was worth a gamble and for me it paid off.
Summary: Good initial communication, fast delivery, product is as described. Some others don't seem to have been so lucky.

Ordered a battery for my laptop recently, received battery in post, plugged it in and found not working. On closer inspection, found crack on the body.
Informed the company via email as no phone number provided(not even on website). They are asking the same questions again and again, and just delaying it for many weeks now. I am getting nowhere.
The website is misleading, they put royal mail logo and make it look like local company.

Professionalism, customer service/satisfaction is completely disregarded.

Please avoid this company, please save time and money.

but am pleasantly surprised! I placed an order on July 9th which arrived this morning, July 17th. After seeing these reviews I emailed the website for confirmation of shipping as I hadn't received any emails and was very nervous I'd been scammed, but I received a reply within 24 hours. The battery fits perfectly and came almost fully charged. The website could be more transparent about the company's location, but I expected the worst & am very happy with the service and product.

After much research, I ordered a laptop battery from this company, assuming, wrongly, that they were based in the UK. The battery i received (posted from Portsmouth) was nothing like the one I ordered, wrong shape and wrong voltage.

I e-mailed the company to ask for an exchange but their reply was that as they were based in China, I should post the battery on to another customer in the UK and they would then send me a replacement, but they did not say who I was supposed to post the battery to !!!. When I asked why I couldn't send it back to Portsmouth, they said that this was only a warehouse and that I had to post it back to China.

After several more e-mails I agreed to post it to China, (at their request - not tracked !!) this cost me £10.42 postage. I e-mailed them a copy of the postage receipt and asked for the refund of the postage as well as a refund of the battery cost, as I now didn't want a replacement from them.

After about 18 days, I e-mailed to ask about my refund, only to be told that they needed a copy of the postage receipt, I re-sent a copy of this again. Then in desperation I opened a dispute with Paypal, the Company refused the Paypal refund request as they said that they hadn't received the battery back. A few days later I did get the cost of the battery refunded into my Paypal account but no refund of the return postage cost.

I have now e-mailed them a further 5 times requesting the cost of the postage back, each time they reply referring me to their terms and conditions and I have referred them back to the page on their own web site which states that they are liable for return postage costs for incorrectly supplied items. We are now at stalemate and I'm £10.42 out of pocket, but it could have been worse I could have lost the cost of the battery as well.

Never use this company unless you want to risk loosing your money

I admit I took a risk when I decided to buy my battery from here. I read all the reviews about the site and seen that there was quite alot of negative feedback but considering the price I couldn't decline.

It took a week and a half for my battery to come. I've had it for approximately 2 weeks now and it is working fine.

I think the site should be honest and actually tell its customers that the batteries are coming from Singapore. The site displays the royal mail logo and so many customers may be lead to believe that its based in the UK. The delivery is done through some other asian postal service until it gets to the UK (where the royal mail comes in)

Overall I'm very pleased

I purchased a laptop battery, choosing carefully to order exactly to the specification of my laptop make and model.

After a delay in receiving the item, where I was told 'not to worry' via the Paypal Resolution Centre (as none of my emails were answered)the battery was finally delivered

The battery received is more than twice the size of the battery I ordered, and is also not compatible in any way to the make and model of my laptop.

Prior to this review I have requested a refund via Paypal Resolution, so hopefully this will not be as difficult a task for them as it was in sending out a correct battery.

Unfortunately I have had to rate this company with 1 star by default of registering this review.

Like the previous poster, I was sent a battery that did not fit my laptop despite specifying my exact requirements.

I was asked to send the battery on (recorded post) to the next customer and to not worry, I would receive a replacement battery.

I am now without any battery and without my money and top-battery.co.uk have stopped answering any of my emails.

Also BEWARE, they are NOT BASED IN THE UK, despite how the website looks - they are based in HK/China.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!

Battery they sent was too big for laptop, I returned battery for replacement in Mar 12, result is I have no new battery and am £50 out of pocket, disgraceful.

Initially became worried when paypal said Xianghua Luo as was expecting it to be a company account. I read reviews about problems with replacement batteries and poor customer service and started to become anxious I may have wasted my money. However battery arrived within a couple of days from a warehouse in Portsmouth, very quick service. The battery fit and works well, it's not a branded battery and the website could be a but more clear on this but that didn't overly concern me. I wanted a product and was able to get it quickly. Thank you very much.

I ordered a battery for my Acer Aspire 5735 laptop from Top-Battery on Monday. Since this was a bank holiday, I expected some delay in despatch. I was intrigued to discover that my payment had been made to the Paypal account of Mr Xianghua Luo, and after reading the reviews relating to this gentleman, I assumed I had made a big mistake. Imagine my astonishment when the battery arrived on Wednesday morning, very well packaged, and apparently from a unit on a business park in Portsmouth. The battery fitted my computer perfectly, and appears to be operating as it should. It may be too soon to comment on the quality of the product - time will tell - but I cannot fault the service I have received from Top-Battery. Perhaps I was lucky, or could there be another Xianghua Luo?

I ordered a laptop battery on February 21st 2012 and it arrived on March 19th. It fits and seems to work fine. I was taken in by the website which tries very hard to appear it is a uk based company but it is in fact China or Singapore based. Don't be tempted if you are in a hurry but if time is not imprtant ordering from this company represents good value.

I ordered this battery because it was cheap for ADVENT NETBOOK before I got a battery for my DELL LAPTOP from another dealer and paid a lot a lot of money for it only tor it to last a few months this one took 8 days I did not know until after I had ordered it that it was from abroad but it fits it's bigger has a nice slant I don't know if I was lucky but I'm now going to ordere one for my DELL

I researched for a compatible battery and this company seemed to be cost effective (cheap), but should have known better.
3 year warranty,60 days money back guarantee and Royal mail postage service.....or so I thought.
The item duly arrived from CHINA and as you guessed it, it was the wrong battery. I had now to send it back, at my expense and not with a courier as they can't track it ????
After several (more than 30 at the last count) emails it apparently hasn't been received by them after 4 months?
I'm now not only out of pocket to the tune of £49.70(cost of battery and postage) but also the £8 it cost me to send it back.
So my advice to anyone reading this is to avoid this company at all costs.

Ordered the battery and was worried after reading reviews but the battery was delivered within a couple of days. Also looking at the postcode on the box it looks like it was mailed from a UK address. The battery fits and works well.

Was impressed with the cheapness of the model, item arrived in a very timely manner i.e. 7 days as promised...just a shame however, that it was not the one stated on the invoice and the one I ordered.

I have now e-mailed them to ask that they send the correct one and a prepaid envelope so I can return the other battery.

I am not impressed to find out that whilst they have a .co.uk website that they are based outside the UK, if I had bothered to do my homework, yes I possibly may have paid, but brought from a UK company.

I now wait with baited breath to see if I can sort this issue out with them and successfully rectify the issue!!

I have now had confirmation from Top-Battery and an independant confirmation that this is the right battery and everything should be OK now...I am therefore changing my rating to 4 stars, it would have been 5 if only they had explained that whilst the battery was marked up as different that it would still work...It would have saved the worry and a few e-mails!! ;O)

Similar sounding name, same city, same rip off. Faulty goods. send back at your expense. They tell you not to send by courier as they can't collect them due to customs duties. You can't track to China via their preferred method of Royal mail air mail. Of course the battery never arrives and you loose everything including the postage back.

Read the reviews after I placed my order and got worried. However, they emailed delivery details, kept me up to date on delivery. Battery arrived as promised and has been working for several months. No problems so far (touch wood).

Should have read reviews. This trader doesn't take responsibility for anything, faulty goods, attrocious after sales. Very dubious giving impression of being a UK site. TRADE AT YOU PERIL !!!!!!!!!!!!

Have to admit I was worried after reading the reviews here and then researching their site and realising they are not located in UK. However their communication was good and I was given a tracking number for the parcel. The parcel arrived via Singapore within 2 weeks and was exactly as ordered, brand new and wrapped with instructions for use.
Battery fitted fine and has been very good so far.
Would I use them again? - well sadly probably not purely due to the lack of transparency of where they are located, and the possible issues surrounding redress if things go wrong.
