I don’t know about their prices, but application+sim card retrieval processes were so smooth. I had a phone number + internet data as soon as I landed in Japan, picked up from airport. My only offline period was when I going through customs :)

The service is easy to set up and use, however the coverage and the data speed leave much to be desired.

Sakura Mobile’s team is very accommodating and responsive. It was a breeze signing up for a plan and they seem to always be considerate of their customer’s situation, eager to understand so they can help better. 100% recommend! And I don’t say that lightly 😊 From reading FAQs to conversing via email to consulting in person, everything was clear and smooth. And of course, their offers are also fantastic - reasonably priced and effortless to set up.

Scammers. Service is terrible, you don’t get full data first month although you do pay for a full month. Way overpriced. 2* instead of 1* because you do get a proper japanese number.

The support I received from Sakura Mobile was truly exceptional. For my most recent business trip to Japan, I initially ordered a travel SIM card from Sakura Mobile. However, due to an unexpected issue on the side of my Japanese collaborator, my arrival in Japan had to be postponed by about 20 days. At that time, even I had received the email explaining how to collect my SIM card at the airport, I contacted the Sakura Mobile support team to ask whether any adjustments might still be possible. Under normal circumstances, changes or cancellations at that stage would not be allowed. Nevertheless, after learning about my situation and confirming that the SIM card had not yet been delivered to the airport, the Sakura Mobile team approved the cancellation of my order and provided a full refund.
I was genuinely surprised and impressed by this. It is quite common for companies to charge a cancellation fee for this type of booking, but Sakura Mobile waived all such fees. Their understanding and flexibility left a very positive impression on me.
While Sakura Mobile may not be the cheapest option, the quality of both their mobile service and, more importantly, their customer support more than justifies the price. Throughout the entire process, their team was responsive, professional, and genuinely helpful.
I highly recommend Sakura Mobile to anyone looking for a travel SIM card or eSIM for Japan. Their outstanding customer service has earned my trust, and I would gladly choose them again for future trips.

Easy to follow instructions and setup. Reliable and consultant wifi coverage. We used both the e sim and dongle packages. Easy to return with prepaid envelope to post items back at end of trip. 109% recommended.

Have AT&T from the US and didn't know our phones were carrier locked and bought e sims for our phones but then found out our phones were incompatible. Sakura mobile was so helpful and provided us with a mobile wifi instead and they even delivered it to our hotel. At the end you can just put the pocket wifi in the return envelope and put it in their red post boxes on the streets or at lawsons stores.

Easy to pick up from and return to KIX airport.
The wifi served 2 people well over our 11 day trip to Osaka.

Sakura Mobile is very easy to work with - the wifi worked great and when I wanted to extend, a simple email was all that was necessary. They also provide a package and label for easy shipping back via Japan Post. I really appreciate the great customer service and ease of use!

Great service that is affordable

This is my 3rd time dealing with Sakura Mobile. My experience has been very positive. This time my stay at a Haneda hotel would be for less than 12 hours and they assured me the pocket WiFi would be waiting for pickup on my arrival. I ordered a second pocket WiFi for our Tokyo portion of trip also to be delivered to a hotel. The hotel address was changed by my Apple device and Sakura Mobile fixed it promptly. Their customer service is excellent. However what counts is the network access. In many of my trips to Hokkaido I have driven to remote areas and never encountered access failure. Wish this was true in USA!

Fast, easy set-up for someone just arriving in Japan, once you have your residence card you can get your number super quickly thanks to Sakura Mobile. Staff at Shinjuku Office was extremely helpful.

It was easy to order the pocket wifi online before arriving in Japan. Pick up at Narita Airport Terminal 2 was easy as well. The device worked well in most areas even in the mountains and forest. It was easy to return the device with the pre-paid envelopes. Overall, an outstanding experience and I would use it again and highly recommend it to others.
