customer service is terrible

customer service is terrible. received the chair in a few weeks, but it was the uncomfortable. my 150 dollar office depot chair was better. i'm in the process of a return... took over a month for them to get an empty box to me to ship back (they require this). it's been several weeks since i sent it back and haven't received my refund. silence from CS when i try to contact them.

Wacht al 2 maanden op levering

Ze werken samen met verschrikkelijke transportbedrijven voor de levering die totaal niet communiceren (DSV).

Uiteindelijk hebben ze de stoel weer retour gestuurd omdat ze het niet konden bezorgen. (logisch als je geen bezorgafspraak maakt met een klant).

Eindstand doet Steelcase natuurlijk heel vriendelijk via de mail en "leven ze met je mee en lossen ze het op" maar zijn niet bereid om alternatieven te bieden.

Ze gaan het nu opnieuw verzenden. Maar ik zie weinig potentie als je gewoon weer met dezelfde achterlijke vervoerder samen blijft werken. Ik heb nog nooit zoiets eerder meegemaakt met een levering.

One screw for $130. Poor After Sales Service

I get all the hype around the brand, but it seems to come at a cost. This review is not about the chair’s quality, it is about the after sales support. One of the screws broke on one side, and now the chair is basically unusable.
I reached out to customer support, and they redirected me to a distributor who quoted me $130 for a single screw. That is almost one fifth of what I paid for the entire chair.

I try to be environmentally conscious and would much rather repair it than send it to a landfill. It is frustrating because I paid a premium thinking the brand would stand behind its product. This experience has honestly been disappointing.

Incompetence into an art form

If I could give a negative rating, I would. This company has turned incompetence into an art form.

I ordered 8 office chairs on December 8 and, months later, I still do not have a complete order. The initial shipment was sent without proper customs/clearing documentation, causing the chairs to sit for over a month at a FedEx facility before being returned to Steelcase.

After following up, I explicitly asked whether the chairs were damaged. I was assured they were in good condition. Steelcase then re-shipped the order without providing any tracking information. Recently, I received a call from a third-party delivery service informing me that they only had 7 chairs, not 8.

When I contacted Steelcase, I was told the missing chair would be shipped “when it is ready.” This makes no sense, considering all 8 chairs had already been manufactured and previously shipped. Since then, I’ve sent multiple follow-up emails and received minimal to no response.

This has been a months-long exercise in poor communication, lack of accountability, and operational failure. I strongly advise against using this company for any corporate or bulk orders.

Bei den Steelcase leap Top Stuhl vorsicht bei der Größe

Bei den Steelcase leap finde ich die Syncromechanik das beste was ich bis jetzt hatte . Ich finde den Stuhl dadurch auch bei längern sitzten für den Rücken sehr angenehm das einzigste was ich zu bemängeln habe ist das Sitzploster bin 1,84 cm Groß und würde normal das Sitzploster voll nach vorne verstellen dadurch tut aber der hintern weh ich habe von den 8 clicks nach vorne jetzt nur 3 nach vorne genutzt das es sich gut sitzen läst daher würde ich jeden raten ab 1,80 cm ihn davor aus zu probieren.

A Good Desk and Good Service After Receiving a Damaged Desk

I’d give Steelcase a five were it not for the fact that we received a damaged desktop. I don’t know if it was packed that way or occurred during shipping. The staff I spoke to was polite. The process to decide how to proceed took about 5 days which I thought was a bit slow.

Nonetheless, Steelcase arranged for a pickup which went smoothly. The replacement took about 12 days to arrive which was a good
bit faster than my original order but with a desk like this it is understandable.

The desk itself is very solid and reliable. I use one at my work and it has been a workhorse.

Assembly is very simple and the engineering seems quite sound. It is heavy (>100 pounds) so two strong people or a dolly are needed to get it into the office. Once assembled it pivots up to standing easily.

The insertions should mention to be careful not to tip the desktop on the side of the handset control as that will damage it. It’s possible to damage it getting the desktop out of the box.

Möbelausdünstung (weichmacher)

Wir haben vor 9 Jahren für ca. CHF 7000.-- Möbel von Steelcase bei WSA OFFICE PROJECT AG in Dietlikon/CH gekauft. Schon immer war eine Ausdünstung bemerkbar. Nun ist auch noch Lack abgeblättert. Ich würde keine Möbel mehr von Steelcase kaufen, obwohl die Qualität gut ist, aber weit überbezahlt und evtl. gesundheitsschädlich. Die Möbel wurden entsorgt.

Lamentable atención

Lamentable atención. No sé cómo será en otros países, pero en España la atención al cliente es penosa. El personal demuestra estar muy poco motivado, sin ningunas ganas de vender, sin apenas conocimiento del producto, desganados. La justificación que dan ellos mismos es que no les interesa el cliente particular, solo la venta al por mayor para oficinas, así que si eres un cliente particular, mejor busca otro proveedor.

Slechtste ervaring, niet kopen!

Ik heb de bestelling op 16 januari 2025 geplaatst en meteen betaald. Na ontvangst van de stoel is gebleken dat de gasveer mist. Hierover 24 februari 2025 een ticket gemaakt om dit aan te geven. Wat hierna volgt is een nachtmerrie van een heen en weer mailen waar ik totaal niet geholpen wordt en er steeds uitgesteld wordt zonder informatie.

Op 3 maart 2025 werd er aangegeven dat de vervangende gasveer is geproduceerd en er urgentie is geboden om dit te versturen voor het einde van de volgende week. Op 17 maart 2025 nog steeds niks gehoord. Ik heb aangegeven dat ik niet waardeer dat ik helemaal geen bericht heb ontvangen en met spoed de gasveer wil ontvangen (het is twee maanden na betaling!). Antwoord op 17 maart: We hebben een ticket gemaakt met de leverancier om na te vragen hoe het zit en je krijgt 5% korting. 24 maart 2025: De leverancier is er nog steeds mee bezig en we hebben nog steeds geen bevestiging voor een leverdatum. 26 maart 2025 werd ik het zat en gaf ik aan de hele overeenkomst te willen annuleren. Dit was een van de opties die mij werd aangeboden. Ik kreeg op dezelfde dag te horen dat ik de komende dagen bericht ontvang voor een pick-up dag voor wat bezorgd is en dat na ontvangst ik twee weken later mijn geld zal krijgen. 2 april 2025: de leverancier heeft vertraging vanwege drukte. Er zal spoedig contact met mij worden opgenomen om een datum te prikken voor het afhalen van de bestelling.

Na 2,5 maand wachten en wel meteen betaald te hebben heb ik geen stoel, geen vaste datum voor wanneer de missende gasveer kan worden bezorgd en wordt het annuleren nu ook vertraagd!? Wat is er aan de hand met deze organisatie? Slechts ervaring en ik raad het IEDEREEN af om hier iets te kopen.

The claim for the company that will offer you the opportunity to grow even if the particular job you started with isn’t the best fit is a complete lie. I was treated like shit when I worked there, and I am absolutely never going to give them a positive review because I have never been treated more poorly by ignorant young managers in finance in my life. He had only one goal and it was to make himself look good, but he had nothing to do with anything else around him, and that included trying to grow his team or absolutely trying to increase their knowledge. He was useless. And I am ashamed that I wasted a year there.

An sich gut und schön und wertig, aber…

An sich alles gut und schön und es scheint auch wertig. Aber: DAS bieten andere Hersteller auch an... für WEIT weniger Geldaufwand.
Die Armlehnen sind zur Seite hin nicht adjustierbar (man kann sie lediglich ein wenig nach außen drehen), wenn ich also wieder etwas breiter werden sollte, dann kann ich meine Arme nicht mehr auflegen (selbst 130Euro Gaming-Sessel schaffen dieses Gimmick einzubauen). Auch sind die Armlehnen etwas kurz geraten.
Das "Schlimmste" an dem Artikel ist aber die 200Euro (!) teure Kopfstütze, die erstens nicht ordentlich einrastet und folglich (wenn man sich nur minimal anlehnt) einfach weiter in dessen Führung einfällt. Und: Wieso kann man eine Kopfstütze nicht in seiner Tiefe verstellen? Was nutzt bitte eine Kopfstütze an der man sich nicht anlehnen kann (weil sie schlichtweg zu weit weg ist... und bei Gott habe ich keinen Rundrücken wie so mancher ITler den ich kenne; der kann dann zwischen seinem Kopf und der Kopfstütze ein Auto parken denke ich)? Hab nun einen 2 Euro Polster an der Kopfstütze anbringen müssen.
Ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, dass der Markt für Steelcase, Hermann Miller in nicht allzu ferner Zukunft zur Neige gehen wird, denn: Auch hier kommen (teils weit bessere) Konstrukte aus China (3 Sessel getestet) oder NoName Produkte aus Europa (2 Sessel getestet) sehr schnell hinterher.
Bin, nachdem ich mich hier ein wenig durchgescrolled habe, auch gespannt, was passiert wenn ich mal wirklich ein Problem mit dem Produkt habe.

Almost 3 months and still no desk

After waiting 3 months, I have cancelled the order.

It has been 3 months now and I am still waiting for my desk (Solo Sit-to-Stand). I try to connect with support team and they are writing back and forth, sayin they are on this case for the last 2 weeks but they also have no idea where is my desk. Apparently the logistics company they work is really bad, but steelcase seems also cannot resolve issues for their customers when you look at the comments here.
Update - 25-02-2025: Still no desk. I saw in one of the comment here they said: "We understand the frustration caused by inaccurate delivery times and missing tracking information. We want you to know that we are taking this issue seriously and are actively working on a solution. We are working on improving our delivery logistics and communication systems to ensure a smoother and more transparent experience for our customers." in 09/2023, apparently no improvement.

Severe back pain, stinky, stained chair.

I am severly disappointed in this chair. For the money it is the biggest piece of overpriced junk I have ever purchased.

1. It is causing severe back pain that a <$200 chair fixes.
2. It traps odor really bad, it smells like a dirty gym locker room.
3. It is stained from my pants somehow. There is gunk getting stuck in the mesh which makes it look stained, this is from my pants, I do not eat while in the chair, no other chair I sit on looks like this.

Garantiebedingungen werden nicht eingehalten

Finger weg! Das Unternehmen lockt im Verkaufsprozess ihrer vergleichsweise sehr hochpreisigen Stühle mit einer lebenslangen Garantie auf Sitzschalen. Kommt es -wie in meinem Fall- zu einem entsprechenden Garantiefall, der beim Stuhl Please keine Seltenheit sein dürfte (Sollbruchstelle mittig der Sitzschale), wird der Garantiefall abgestritten und falsch aus den eigenen Garantiebedingungen zitiert, um den Garantiefall nicht leisten zu müssen. Ich bin maßlos von der Firma Steelcase, insbesondere deren Service, enttäuscht und kann anderen Interessenten diesen Anbieter nicht empfehlen.

The best desk chair

Placing an order on steelcase.com was easy. It shipped and arrived as expected.

I'm using my new Gesture chair from Steelcase for a month now. Surely it is the most expensive chair I've ever bought, I can also say it is the most comfortable chair I've ever had. Every part can be moved so you can fit it to your liking. Should have bought it years ago!

Shipping damage and u responsive CS

Very poor experience. My Amia chair came in damaged with a lot of scratches and there was a hole in the box where the wheel stuck out. Chair potentially also exposed with a hole in the box as it makes squeeky sounds. As bonus I got a manual for the Leap chair instead of Amia.

The quality team has to have a look at it and while this in progress, I have to keep the box which takes enormous of space in a small house. If necessary I have to send the chair back in a box that's literally destroyed. Don't know how that will work.

It has been 3 weeks now with no response from Steelcase. I expected more for the price and reputation.
