Carhire and Europcar are part of the same group. I've been hiring with Europcar for about 6 years and they are okay, you need to watch costs and the add ons. The guys at the desk mentioned Carhire.ie may be better as cheaper. Please don't touch, when looking to rent i was comparing both, Carhire about 50 EUR cheaper so thought I'd try. I made the booking and when I went to collect the car, I couldn't take it unless I paid for insurance. They said it's compulsory, which i agree with, that I need something. But that wasn;t make clear on the site, anyway had to pay or cancel and I needed the car for work. So it cost me around 100 more than if I'd gone with Europcar. To me it looks scam-like and I said this to the guy, essentially I was making a reservation for a car but would never have been able to drive it. Please avoid.

Absolutely disgusted!!! After an initial quote on booking.com, Carhire wouldn't accept my credit card for insurance. What should have been a 2 week rental for $500, ballooned to $950 with their additional insurance, etc.
I rang to discuss, got cheek from the operator and then they hung up when they got bored of my complaint.

Giving us Irish a bad reputation!

Europcar cardiff took extra insurance money yet I was covered by Trip.com my granddaughter was pushed into it £395.74taken out my account but not authorised

J'ai contacté le service client et ils sont d'une incompétence total. Ils n'ont pas réussi à me fournir une facture. Malgré plusieurs appels.

Merhaba, bu yaz tatili için online rezervasyon yapıp 320 Euro tutarında bir hesap ödedim, banka hesabımdan 367 euro kesildi. Neden fazla ücret kestiklerine dair bir bilgi de yok, rezervasyonumu iptal ettim sonrasında. İadeyi geç de olsa yatırdılar fakat 10 euro eksik yatırdılar. Tavsiye etmiyorum asla!

We used ok mobility when in Gran Canaria. When we picked up car, there were scratches on it which the ok mobility rep assured us were all mentioned in the email they sent us when we arrived. Car was not very clean. The worst was to follow. When we returned car, there was no rep at the car park, retuned keys to separate desk and told them all was in order. When we arrived home the following day, our card was charged € 400 for scratches which we didn’t do or were not evident on car. Ok mobility did not even send an email or invoice to state any damage. Do not use this company!

It's unfortunate to see so many bad reviews on Trustpilot for this company. I have used them at least 10 times and have had nothing but great experiences each time. I have always refused the excess insurance and have never been forced into taking out their insurance. The cars are always perfect and returning the car has never been a problem. Just always take plenty of photos when picking up the car, as with any rental car. I find them a lot more reliable and easy to deal with than the other rip-off car hire companies. Just my opinion!

Trust the majority of reviews & the damning fact that this company doesn't respond to reviews, feedback or even customers. Got me with some scam about having booked an exclusive North American offer (despite living in & booking from the UK). Had to pay exorbitant insurance. No other CDW accepted. The only thing they would accept was a bankers draught from a US bank that they would then need 3 days to verify. WTF! This company deserves to go out of business. Do NOT use!

Los ladrones... 300€ por un día de alquiler de coche

Si il était possible de ne pas mettre d’étoiles sur ce site ce serait parfait.
C’est carrément de l’arnaque, je ne comprends pas comment une compagnie aérienne peut travailler avec ce genre de sous-traitants.

Son unos estafadores, no nos dieron el coche que teníamos reservado y tuvimos que irnos a otra compañía y alquilar otro coche.
Es una compañía low cost de Europcar. Mucho cuidado.

Una estafa. Después de pagar 127€ por el alquiler de 6 días de un coche a través de autoeurope, y pagar un seguro que el que entra todo, llegó al mostrador y me dicen que no tengo seguro, así que o pago 180€ más o tengo una franquicia de 1500€ que me bloquean desde ese momento. He pagado por un coche 307€ en vez de 127€ como se supone que era. Es una auténtica estafa y además cogí un Ford focus y me dieron un dacia

Do NOT use Europcar [aka Carhire.ie] - they are negligent ... and they don't tell the truth !
My story is as follows:-

Three weeks ago, I booked a 1 day car hire in Dublin through Booking.com. The hiring company was ‘Carhire.ie’ (what a ridiculous name ?) - aka Europcar.

On the evening I collected the car's key, no info was given re the rental car. So i asked a Europcar staff member who was passing by, to assist with any questions, BUT while discussing the start procedure, HE unexpectedly pressed the start button without warning, to ‘show me how to start the car’ BUT he hadn't checked or realised that the car had been left in gear! with the electronic handbrake switched off!, by their maintenance/car wash staff, and of course, as a result of that negligence, the car shot forward about 10 feet once he pressed the start button.
It was a miracle that no one was hurt, and a miracle that there was no damage to the car, or to any other car, parked or passing. The staff member then RAN AWAY from the car leaving me there in shock ! I drove home.

The next morning, when I got into the car to drive it to work at 7:30, the car wouldn’t start !

I rang ‘Carhire . ie Europcar’ (and I also rang my boss), to inform them of the fault, and that I’d called the Emergency Breakdown Svc.
I arrived at work two hours late at 10:15, after the AA engineer repaired it. He told me that the car's battery was completely flat, for NO obvious reason apparently ? He told me that it could have been the tracker draining the battery overnight, or, more likely, that the car's battery was almost drained when i pickup up the car the day before. He told me that was the reason that the key fob wouldn't work from 7pm onwards the previous evening, and he also told me that the car’s power steering was dangerous to use, while the car's battery was low.

I returned the car on time to Europcar Dublin Airport that evening after work [I had only driven 70km in total over the rental period, and it was safely parked for 22.5 hours over the day's rental period]. I immediately met and informed the Europcar manager of my experiences on both days, informing him that I expected a full refund of the €29 hire cost as a result of my experiences, and the huge inconvenience and stress caused by both incidents.
I haven't received the promised reply from Europcar though (to date). Their customer service is clearly non-existent. The matter was potentially extremely serious re the negligent actions of their car-park staff member, and the negligent shortcut actions re gear stick and handbrake settings of their maintenance/car wash staff, yet they didn't have the courtesy to reply or to do the obvious right thing - they should have refunded me immediately. Would I have gone to all this trouble for a €29 refund, if i wasn't telling the truth ?? - if the matter went to court, any judge worldwide would have found in my favour.

However, I had also sent the whole story in exact truthful detail to Booking . com, requesting refund, as I had payed them by CC.
It was extremely difficult to find a way to contact and to communicate with their Customer Service dept also.

After a 2 week delay I received the Booking . com response.
They informed me that the negligent Carhire . ie/Europcar had advised them that I [!!] was responsible for the car almost crashing on the evening of pickup (even though CCTV should prove that it was their staff member who started the car !!), and, they said that Carhire . ie/Europcar had advised them that the car broke down/wouldn’t start next morning, ‘because the renter must have left the lights on’ - BUT - the lights were in Auto mode, from pickup to return ! Lies !

As i explained in writing, on the phone, and in person,I’m ex-airline staff, driving 47 years, hiring cars in many countries, driving all makes and models. I’ve never had a crash during that time in any car I’ve been driving, and I’ve never left the lights on in my car or in any other car !! - EVER !!

I explained all of this to them again, in my reply, to no avail. No further reply from either company, but many many hours of my time wasted.
There is no doubt that the hiring company Carhire . ie Europcar, were negligent and 100% responsible

BUT

Carhire . ie and Booking.com refused to refund me the €29.
I’ve used both company's services many times in the past, but as a result of this shocking experience and their dishonest decision(s), I’ll never use either of them again

Such a shame ! They seem like such a great professional company and great value - but their customer service and decision making is brutal.
This has turned out to be a great example of 'if it looks too good to be true, it probably is' ...

So - please don’t make the same mistake I made - don’t use Carhire.ie or Europcar's services - and avoid using Booking.com too of course if possible !
They are dishonest !

Sono andato li con il voucher pagato su booking e non mi hanno dato l'auto perché il loro pos non era in grado di prendermi la cauzione dalla carta di credito perché sulle multifunzione non chiede il pin e si sono tenuti i soldi del voucher per un servizio di cui non ho usufruito. Ho dovuto noleggiarla in una compagnia seria vicina pagando nuovamente il noleggio (guarda un po li la carta di credito funzionava)

I would give Carhire -5 stars if it were possible. Their customer service is none after paying for a voucher that is worthless at Eurocar rental. First you don’t get the car selected, then then you’re forced to pay twice what you’ve already paid. DON’T fall for this SCAM. Go directly to the car rental and skip paying DOUBLE the amount.

Inadmissible, ne travaillez surtout pas avec cette entreprise. La voiture réservée avait plus de 130000 km, mauvais état. Mais ce n'est pas le plus incroyable, nous sommes arrivés avec 2h de retard pour récupérer la voiture car la navette de l'aéroport de SPLIT était en retard....résultat, nous nous sommes vus très très mal reçus, facturés de 80€ en plus en raison de notre retard ! Depuis quand vous payez plus cher quand vous prenez votre voiture en retard ?? Nous étions pris en otage, pas le choix de payer avec, en plus, une ironie de l'employée qui parlait avec sa consœur en croate en nous riant au nez !! intolérable, NE PRENEZ SURTOUT PAS DE VOITURE AVEC EUX !!!!!!!! A FUIR !!!!!!!!

Car hire n'a aucun service client et se borne à encaisser sans contrepartie. J'ai eu une difficulté avec la société NATIONAL qui à Roissy se refuse à donner un véhicule à quelqu'un qui ne présente pas un billet d'avion !!!
Personne ne m'a prévenu de cette arnaque bien huilée qui permet à NATIONAL d'encaisser sans aucune contrepartie.

attention arnaque ,pour un dommage de 3 cm sur une portiere non vu au départ puisque l'employé ne se donne meme pas la peine de sortir de son guichet ,je n'ai eu aucune espèce d'accident et j'ai du payer 700 euros de réparations !!!

Terrible experience. Even though i purchased insurance waiver elsewhere. They wouldn't accept it. Made me buy their excess waiver for 210 euros for the week.
No other options available. Do not use!
