5-star experience, paid for a cheaper hatchback hybrid but was given an upgrade free of charge to a mid-sized SUV which was amazing to drive had all the bells and whistles, heated seats, heated steering and wireless android auto for google maps! I did a whole tour of ireland and the car ran effortlessly. The staff are really helpful! Make sure you do your research, there's lot of people who don't do research and make up their own rules. READ BUDGET T&S and comply to them, if they say they don't take virtual card for deposit don't be a smart ass and try your luck. Bring physical credit card and take photos before taking car and after giving car back for future reference. Overall I'm really happy with my experience, and I will definitely recommend them.

The Gentleman at the pickup desk was so patient and helpful. They were really busy, however he didn't make me feel like I was being rushed. I was very happy with the service.

Budget charged me £937.31 for damage I dispute.
At return, their employee pointed specifically to a wheel-arch mark — no bumper damage was mentioned.
Budget later produced photos showing conspicuous separate bumper damage, which is not apparent in my original return-day photo.
I have asked Budget to explain this discrepancy and escalate my complaint; they have failed to do so.
I am now referring the evidence to the appropriate Irish authorities for independent investigation.

Paid via Booking.com : 222 euros + extra full insurance 88 euros.
And finally paid to BUDGET an additionnal 418 euros for only a 7 days rental , full tank at the return at DUB airport.

We had made an online booking to pick the car from the Dublin airport - Pick up was at 11am.
We arrived at the airport desk at 10h40 - queued up for 20min for them just to send us to the shuttle to take us to the car rental building/parking.
We were dropped at the hiring facility at about 11h05, just to have to queue again for 50min for someone to put the charge hold on my credit-card and send me yet to another queue for another 30min to finally get the car keys.
It is absolutely unacceptable to have to wait for almost 2h to get the keys of a car that was booked online in advance with full insurance cover (not that matters much)

We rented the manual transmission for a much reduced price. The car had a few scrapes but perfect for our needs! The car was large enough for suitcases etc. for 3 people but small enough for the smaller Irish roads. The car had excellent fuel efficiency and handled very well, which is needed on Irish roads.

I hired a car to be picked up at Dublin airport. The staff were excellent and have the patience of a saint. The car was beyond my expectations for the price I paid. I was expecting an aged car but received one that had only done just over 5,000 km. It was so lovely that I now want to purchase one for myself. So this could end up being the most expensive holiday I've ever been on. lol

On arrival at Kerry Airport, the Budget Car Hire was well signed. At the reservations desk, the staff are friendly, efficient - they know what they are doing. They explain everything to you (including deposits for full fuel tanks refundable on a full tank return). On return of the car they are relaxed yet professional. They make you feel like they are not there to catch you out.

We rented a car from Budget in Iceland and were very disappointed with the condition of the vehicle and the way our concern was handled.

When we collected the car, the front passenger door was already damaged and did not close properly. However, this pre-existing damage was not recorded on the vehicle condition report. We had taken a video at the time of collection that clearly showed the condition of the car and the damaged door.

When we reported the issue, the inspector refused to accept or properly consider our video evidence. This was unacceptable and caused unnecessary stress. Customers should not be held responsible for damage that existed before the rental began, particularly when clear video evidence is available.

Budget should ensure that all existing damage is accurately documented before a vehicle is handed over and should fairly consider evidence provided by customers.

Based on our experience, we would strongly recommend that others avoid using Budget Iceland and choose another car rental company.

Scammy policies - hidden terms and conditions where you need a license over 2 years which is not clearly mentioned anywhere. Rude and unhelpful staff and very poor customer service. Only rental agency in the airport to do so - Hertz sorted us out in a jiffy. PLEASE AVOID

I booked an intermediate size car for 5 people- Skoda Octavia saloon was the example given. Initially given seat aroma - classed a small compact suv with was not suitable so I had to go back for another car and then given the estate version of an Octavia. Very cramped and uncomfortable car for the adults in the bac someone not recommend it for 5 adults.
Fully inspected car but forgot to check fuel status. Just pulled out of car rental and noticed there was already 120km on the car since refuelling but was in a hurry so could go back. Had photographed this detail but was dismissed on return and told it was full!
I wonder what would have happened if I returned the car that way!!
Funny enough I didn’t get the usual email asking for my feedback- I wonder why??

Prepaid rental for five days with excess waiver already paid, at Knock Airport Office an agent told me I had to pay only for fuel and I would get my money back if i returned the car with a full tank. I asked for confirmation and she confirmed it, only fuel. After i signed the agreement I discovered she added me two services i did not request (57 euros), classic misselling and bad service.
In Italy i would read slowly all the agreements before signing them but in Ireland I thought i could trust an agent... I was wrong... the world is the same wherever you go...
I wrote to customers service, no support.
And the car... 107210 km, bad suspensions, noisy brakes, scratches and bumps all over the car body, cigarette burns on seats.

Fuyez pauvres fous. Expérience catastrophique. L'accueil est des plus désagréable qu'il m'est était de vivre, La personne était vraiment désagréable,ne faisait aucun effort. Ils ont refusés ma carte de crédit qui est bien une carte de crédit et non de débit, à la place j'ai été obligé de souscrire une option qui porte le prix de ma location à 293€ au lieu de 113€!!!! c'est un vol,un racket c'est tout simplement scandaleux,je n'avais jamais eu de problème que ça soit aux USA,en Ecosse, en Angleterre,au pays de Galles,en France ou au Portugal. C'est vraiment propre à l'agence irlandaise. Vous pensez faire des économies par rapport aux autres agences plus sérieuses mais plus chère et au final j'ai payé le triple du prix prévu pour que dalle !! N'y allez pas sincèrement,ne vous faites pas voler comme moi!!

We have been a regular Budget customer at Cork Airport for over 20 years, with occasional rentals from Shannon Airport as well. During that time, we have used Budget approximately three to four times a year, generally for around five days per rental. We have always considered ourselves loyal and reliable customers.

Unfortunately, I have to say that I am extremely disappointed with the decline in the standard of both the vehicles and the service in recent years.
The cars we have been given have increasingly been from an older fleet and, on several occasions, have been in a poor condition, including dirty interiors, stained seats and vehicles that generally do not meet the standard I would reasonably expect from a major car rental company.

More concerning is that this year, on two separate occasions during the summer months, we were provided with vehicles where the air conditioning had clearly not been properly maintained or re-gassed. When hiring a vehicle during the summer, having functioning air conditioning is a basic expectation, particularly when it is specified as part of the vehicle's facilities that I am paying extra for.

On the first occasion, the issue was eventually rectified. However, on the second occasion (Shannon airport) there were multiple issues with the vehicle that we were told upon return that we “should have brought the car back” which was not possible for us.

What has made the situation even more frustrating is the complete lack of communication from the Cork Airport location to discuss some issues and arrange a future booking. We have attempted to contact the office by telephone repeatedly throughout the week, but nobody has answered. We have also sent an email and, again, have received no response.

After more than 20 years of being a loyal Budget customer, I find this level of service extremely disappointing. We have consistently given Budget our business, using your vehicles several times every year, yet the standard of the vehicles and, more importantly, the level of customer service has deteriorated significantly.

Sadly, we have now reached the point where we have had no option but to take our business elsewhere.

I collected the car and the staff at the airport were really quick (even if it was the busiest day of the year). We had an issue on returning it because our flight was changed last minute due to traffic control problems. When I called Budget they were very helpful and understanding. Thank you Susan Pierce, for resolving our problem so efficiently. It helped us end our holiday with a smile.

Très bonne expérience avec Budget à l’aéroport de Dublin. j’avais réservé avec bsp auto et je n’ai eu aucun soucis pour récupérer la voiture.
À noter que le site précise qu’il faut bien une carte de Crédit afin de ne pas payer d’assurance supplémentaire mais cela est mentionné lors de la réservation donc aucune mauvaise surprise.
La restitution a également été très simple, sans aucun frais caché.

Pour Dublin, prévoyez quand même une marge pour récupérer et restituer les véhicules car une navette nous emmène entre l’aéroport et l’agence de location et nous pouvons attendre un petit moment (30 min).

The service at both pick up and return was great. Both were very easy with no problems. The car we rented was old and in average condition, but it drove well. We did have a service warning light come on and reported it to Budget. They organised a replacement vehicle and we swapped over.
