Young Writers runs national writing contests for schools, helping to turn students' imagination and creative talent into confidence and writing skills. We support educators across the States by creating engaging creative writing contests, themes, outstanding resources and awarding incredible prizes to both schools and students. The result is confident writers! Almost daily we're told that children and young adults who see their work published in a printed book have more confidence in their writing, are encouraged to write more, read more, and their literacy levels improve. Many of us at Young Writers were poets and storytellers from a young age. Some of us wrote poetry as a way to express our emotions and others found creative freedom in being able to convey our thoughts & imagination through writing. We want children and young adults to keep using their awesome gift for imagination and creativity! Here at Young Writers we will always be here to support, inspire and celebrate them.

This is a great program for students!
This is a great program for students. After learning my daughter's poem would be published, I had trouble viewing a link in an email sent to me and I emailed the representative and she got back to me right away and she was very helpful. I agree this program should have more recognition. Hopefully it will soon!

My students have absolutely loved having an outlet to get their writing published! It has definitely increased throughout my classes. It's fun to see them excited about poems and stories!

My son entered the contest and ended up…
My son entered the contest and ended up winning. His story will be published in a book along with other students scary stories! This program I feel definitely deserves more recognition, after receiving the letter he was awarded for his story made his confidence grow soooo much! And English hasn’t been his strongest subject.

Great opportunity!

Young Writers is a Terrific Resource for Writing
I loved the resources provided by Young Writers that got my students very excited to write their own Scary Tale. The challenge of writing a story in 100 words or less was a great lesson for including only the most important details for the plot. Quick and Professional resolution to my problem.
Gemma was able to resolve my issue quickly and was very professional. One of my student's name was misspelled on the information sent home to parents. Gemma quickly answered my email, resolved the problem, and has requested new certificate for my student.

Excellent service and fun contests for students of all ages!
Arran was able to help me solve two different problems I was having with my log-ins and was efficient and polite while doing so. These contests make a difference to my young writers and the work put into making them run smoothly is much appreciated!

So Many Great Contest Opportunities
I am a high school English teacher from New Jersey, and I greatly appreciate the contests provided by Young Writers for my students. 5th Grade Teacher
I am so happy that I found Young Writers when I did an internet search for "writing contests for elementary students". They provided a wonderful opportunity for my 5th grade inner city Charter School students to explore and appreciation the fine art of writing. We worked very diligently on our descriptive writing lesson and bringing our stories to life through the use of the 5 senses. It was such an honor to receive the news that two of my students work submissions were selected for publication (Scary Tales)! I was very pleased to be able to share this news with their parents and my Principal. Can't wait to see the final publication. The student certificates were very nice as well. Gemma has been a pleasure to interact with online. She prompty addresses my questions and is kind and personable. I am the high school English teacher at Friendship Academy. We had seven students submit stories to the Scary Tales contest with two of their stories accepted for inclusion in the Scary Tales - Bewitched By Words compilation. The materials you folks provided made the process for all involved smooth and painless. Our kids who took part were as excited to be a part of the contest as we have seen them. Most of our kids find writing anything difficult. Thanks for giving them a chance to discover a feeling of accomplishment. I'm hoping to get even more kids involved for your next set of contests.
