My cat barely survived his seventh shot of Solensia, which was supposed to be safe. Don’t use this junk, nor the dog version called Librella. Seriously, this stuff can kill your pet.

My Rufus was a very healthy senior with osteoarthritis when the doctor prescribed solensia. After the 2nd injection we saw that he started walking better. After the 3rd injection he was lying on the couch, suddenly jumped up, fell down and could no longer get up or walk. He was panting heavily. The doctor who was immediately consulted could find nothing...After 2 or 3 hours he looked better again.
This happened again 2 days later.
The doctor said this couldn't have anything to do with solensia. In the following months we saw that he had less and less control over his hind legs, they simply slipped out from under him. According to the doctor, this was because he was getting older and his muscle strength was decreasing.
In the subsequent period, Rufus withdrew more and more, often sitting with his nose almost against the wall, staring for hours. He also started shouting more and more. We decided to stop taking Solensia because we no longer saw any improvement and switched to Onsior, green-lipped mussel capsules and Traumeel. After about 3 weeks, Rufus started walking better and better! He was no longer in the attic. Until we suddenly noticed that his pupils no longer responded to light. Visited a doctor immediately. Rufus still saw dark and light but nothing else. All other checks were good!. After about 5 days, his pupils suddenly started to respond again and we saw our old man again, happy, playful, cuddly. Unfortunately this lasted 5 weeks when he again had large pupils. This time he bumped into everything, the doctor said he couldn't see anything anymore and this wouldn't turn out well. The following days he withdrew further and further, he seemed to give up. He was only calm and not anxious when I lay next to him. Then he also wanted something to eat. He no longer did that on his own. We felt this was no longer a quality of life for him. He will be put to sleep today. My sweet, handsome, VERY HEALTH senior. Thanks to Zoetis and his solensia! This terwille drug must be pulled back from the Market. Zoetis, take your responsebility!!! Stop killing our beloven, furry friends

I compared the information that was on the Dutch market to Canada and I was Devistated that all the information with bad side effects was inside the information sheet from Canada, not in the Netherlands

My cat was on Solensia for a year. I kept her on it because sometimes it seemed to make a little difference to her arthritis and I thought any pain relief was worth keeping her on, but the improvement wasn't very noticeable and wasn't consistent. The side-effects built up gradually and once I realised why they were happening I took her off the monthly injections. Before Solensia she was a fit and healthy, albeit elderly, 'supercat' with spotless blood tests, good weight and general health. She now has kidney disease, weakness and instability, weight loss, blindness and has just been diagnosed with terminal intestinal cancer. It also made her IBD worse and she no longer uses the litter tray. She seems to have aged ten years in one year. I personally don't think Zoetis have tested this product thoroughly before selling it to vets. If I, and many others, are right this is big pharma acting incredibly irresponsibly. Imagine if it was being sold for humans... I hope the product is pulled before more animals and owners suffer what we are going through.

My cat was one of the thousands that have had a bad reaction to Solencia. I thought we were going to lose her. After the second shot, she developed massive itchy scabbing all over her head and neck. She then stopped eating and drinking. Her bloodwork and ultrasound were normal. Luckily with the help of Prednisolone and appetite stimulants, we got her over the hump, and she survived. It took over 3 months for the scabbing to heal. She is still scratching at the area, and she is still on a low dose of Prednisolone.
The drug was NOT PROPERLY TESTED before release. They only tested it on a few hundred young cats for 90 days before releasing it. No tests were done to see if there were long term adverse effects.
Zolensia is a crap shoot. You don't know which cat it will help, and which cat it will kill or injure.

After 3 injections my dog began to show 5 of the manufacturers listed known side effects. There is no antidote or anything that reverses the drastic effects. My dog had to be euthanised as he was dying from the multiple catastrophic effects. Do your own research. Do not use.

Four days after his first and only injection of Solensia (which I was told had no side effects) my cat declined at an alarming rate. His adverse reactions included dehydration, anorexia, change of behaviour, hind leg weakness, and unusual sensitivity around his neck and mouth areas. He also experienced pain at the injection site when it was administered and later developed a cyst there, which I pray isn’t cancerous.

Five months later, he also still has some remaining hind leg weakness.

After spending hundreds of pounds on tests, treatments and supplements, I contacted Zoetis to see if they would pay for the biopsy of the cyst Solensia caused. However, they refused without even providing me with an explanation.

Zoetis are pushing Solensia and Librela onto UK vets without disclosing the often deadly consequences. Sadly, it doesn’t appear as though the vets are doing their own due diligence and aren’t researching the drug.

It’s shameful that thousands of cats and dogs have died worldwide as a result of Zoetis’ drugs, and yet they’re still claiming that the drugs are safe. Absolutely disgraceful!

Zoetis is pushing Solensia, and getting vets to push it as a wonder drug. It killed my elderly cat, and it turns out it was never tested on the population most likely to be given the drug - the elderly and cats with comorbidities like CKD. It was also never tested long term. Shane on the FDA for approving such sloppy testing, and shame on Zoetis for making OUR beloved kitties the test population! Total failure!

My cat had his first injection of solencia and 3 days later was dead. Great job selling a drug that you know kills animals. All about the bottom line I guess. Hopefully the class action lawsuit will make you pay

My dog had 4 shots of Librela and I regret the day I heard this drug is safe, dogs will be like puppies again! Stop telling vets that! Stop vets telling pet owners that it is totally safe.
My poor dog had a stroke, Vestibular Syndrome, liver enzymes shot up to such a high level that my vet thinks she has cancer. She barely gets off her bed. I have to support her when she walks and her head leans to one side, her body leans to her right. She can't walk far. Has diarrhea. The list is long of symptoms that started after her 4th shot. We are praying that she can recover from this drug. I reported this to the company and our vet did too. It should be used as an absolute last end off life hope. Not given to older dogs that are still able to walk!
I have friends whose dogs are also currently suffering hoping this drug gets out of thier system before it kills them.

Librela is a horrible medication. My dog went from walking and acting normal to stumbling, spinning in circles uncontrollably, he can not do stairs anymore, he has lost 6 lbs in 1 month. He seems confused. He gets lost easily. He had two strokes like episodes. Head tick and tilt. This medication has destroyed my dogs health. Shame on Zoetis for not doing more research and not recalling Librela!

Solensia should be called Silencia because this drug that Zoetis sells will kill your cat. It did mine and I wish I have never agreed to the injection. Shame on Zoetis and vets that prescribe it.

My cat shelby was on Solensia for about 8 months. She had kidney disease buuy was still being monitored by Vetrinary Imaging of San Diego for having I-131 radiation treatment so she had regular bloodwork follow ups per the contract I signed. She was fine holding at stage 1 until this last shot. She stopped eating, wasnt as active, laid around alot mostly in her sisters bed who just passed away at 17.5 yrs old, and she started having a limp, she was letargic, and showing weakness in her hind legs to the point she couldnt lift her legs to get into the litter box, her leg started to drag and I brought her to the vet 4 days after her shot. The devastating news was that she was in renal failure & they were sorry. Fluids at the vet didnt help but made her comfortable until she passed with lap of love the next day. I watched her deterorate over the next 24 hours. It was brutal. I lost both of my cats 9 weeks apart. Thought I was doing something helpful for her not killing her. I will never trust this company again. As much as I want justice for shelby, I know it wont bring her back or change what happened. I do hope this company takes responsibility in what they have cost so many people. I lost my fur child because of you.

Ho avuto un caso di anemia emolitica in un cane dopo il periodo di somministrazione di Apoquel, ovviamente dopo aver fatto tutti gli accertamenti necessari per escludere le altre cause siamo giunti alla conclusione che la cosa più probabile che l’avesse scatenata era proprio Apoquel. E qui apriti cielo, l’informatrice della Zoetis che si occupa della zona ci ha trattato come degli incompetenti (anche se parlando si era dimostrata abbastanza ignorante come veterinaria) e non si è più fatta sentire per fare la segnalazione come prevede la legge. Stesso discorso nel loro sito, devi compilare un modulo online e verrai ricontattato per fare la segnalazione; ovviamente nessuno ci ha mai richiamato. È la classica casa farmaceutica che fa i soldi sulla pelle degli animali. Pessima azienda e pessimi impiegati, non prescrivo più i vostri prodotti!

Shame on Zoetis for not fulfilling their commitment to their Vanguard CRlyme product guarantee! My dog contracted Lyme disease 11 months after our vet administered this drug and the company has refused to pay for our tests and treatment! Pet owners beware of this drug company!

Did Librela Almost Kill My Dog After One Shot?

I have a cautionary tale about Librela. We almost lost our ten year old GSD last week. He's apparently recovering but please consider the following:

Gunner has been in very good health. We have over 35 years experience with GSDs and we know that as they get older, and we've had them live to 15, they tend to develop a bit of arthritis. I'd been using Dasaquin for Gunner for about a month, but during his routine vet visit I was told about Librela (bedinvetmab injection), a once a month monoclonal injection for same. I was told by my vet, and I quote, "It has NO SIDE EFFECTS!" Further, our son uses it on his English Mastiff and it works well for him. We got the first shot.

Everything was fine for about a week. Gunner then developed heavy breathing, became extremely lethargic, got very weak in the rear, and lost his appetite.

We took him to the vet. Blood work showed no real abnormalities. They sent us home after giving him fluids and three prescriptions.

It was then that I, too late, researched the drug. Gunner was a textbook case for almost all of its known side effects, and being a monoclonal there is no "antidote" other than time and supportive care. The side effects are not pretty to say the least. There are also Librela horror stories all over Facebook and the net.

This is day 13 post shot, and we have gradually seen a turnaround for the better. We've been giving him anti-nausea meds and an antibiotic, Lions Mane liquid and a few other detoxifying herbs along with bone broth with turmeric. We've been feeding him boiled skinless and boneless chicken breast and boiled top round. His appetite has somewhat returned but it's sporadic! His voluntary mobility is increasing as is his rear end stability. He was briefly playing with his stuffed toys earlier today. I THINK we're out of the woods.

I'm not saying don't use Librela, that's your decision and, as I said above, our son's dog, an English Mastiff, has done well with it, but PLEASE, before you do, research it very well, visit a few of the many websites where owners describe what has happened to their dogs and cats (Yes, there is a feline version.) after using it, and make an informed decision! Above all, don't believe the "No Side Effects" statement! What you ultimately need to determine for yourself is, are the apparent risks abd ensuing vet bills worth the possible benefits. I've seen human drugs yanked from the market for less than this!

I called Zoetis to report what happened and, frankly, they didn't seem to care or be interested. At all!

We only had one shot and for us it's one and done! BTW, there are reports of canine deaths after only one shot! I consider us lucky. Hopefully Gunner will be be OK and have many more years with us!

My next contact will be with the FDA! In my opinion Librela should be removed from the market forthwith!

If you're wondering why Zoetis's products are so bad, you need to look at the people who work at the company. They hire the absolute bottom of the barrel, as I have seen with my own eyes. They're a den of scumbags.

I am sitting at an emergency vet right now waiting to see a doctor for my cat who was on Selensia for 6 months. When my kitty was put on Selensia for arthritis I was not aware that the drug can cause itching around a cat’s face. My kitty started itching and scratching and developed a terrible ear
Infection as well as a hematoma. My vet treated the ear infection and lanced the hematoma but the hematoma keeps coming back. Today is my third visit to a vet within the last 7 days and my vet bills are already close to $1000. My cat is only 9 years old and was otherwise very healthy before Selencia. I have a friend whose cat was on selencia during the same time and had almost identical issues. I would not recommend that your kitty be given this drug. It was not studied enough before the manufacturer put it out on the market!

Would give 0 if I could. Their drugs kill dogs!
