I found NPS Solovair when searching for a UK-made alternative to a Dr Martens boots that are only three years old, were resoled after one year and needed resoling again. I only found out after I bought them that they were now made overseas.

I was thrilled to find out that NPS previously made Dr Martens boots in the UK and are now making boots of their own - with better leather, stronger soles and something Dr Martens can't offer - OUTSTANDING customer service.

The order process was simple (check out their factory seconds too!) and the boots I chose were sent out very quickly. When DPD dropped the ball with the delivery, I rang NPS and spoke with the lovely Viv who commiserated with me, made me feel better and made sure to remind me that if there are any issues at all going forward, there are REAL people at NPS who will go the extra mile to be helpful and kind.

Highly recommended!!

I hope this is just the first of many pairs of Solovair boots that end up in my home.

Great customer service, had a QC issue with a pair of boots, contacted customer service and they sent out a new pair straight away, the boots themselves are great as well.

I purchased a pair of Black Hi-Shine 6 Eye Astronaut Boots, they looked great when I received them and they became very comfortable with very little break in required. However i'm disappointed that in less than a month of infrequent wear the sole has split. I reported the issue to customer services and they have agreed to repair the boots at the factory free of charge and I hope they will last a lot longer.

Here is the initial response from customer service in case you find yourself in the same situation.

We are sorry to hear you’ve had cause to contact us with an problem with our footwear. We have reviewed the images you have sent and recognise this issue of sole split. This infrequent occurrence can unfortunately happen to brand new pair of footwear or it can occur after prolonged use; it typically occurs in the waist of the footwear as this is the start/end location of the sole bond during our manufacturing and frustratingly the split only occurs after use / wear of the footwear.
This issue of the sole /welt split issue has occurred since the inception and bulk production of our footwear using this special footwear construction method in 1959. This inherent issue has never been and indeed cannot be 100% eradicated; no level of additional care during manufacturing or subsequent quality checking will identify what is essentially a hidden/internal deficiency that occurs during the handmade manufacturing process.
The weakness does mean that Solovair footwear can be fixed and also re-soled. Solovair shoes and boots are made from the Goodyear welted construction method, so the good news is that the soles can be easily repaired or replaced by almost all local cobblers. A cobbler can use heat to fuse the two components back together using a heated blade or knife or alternatively they may wish to bond the components with adhesive and we can provide advice to them.
Your footwear can also be returned to our factory to have the sole re-sealed, but many customers find it far more cost effective and also time efficient to initially visit a cobbler local to try and to resolve the issue.

Being upset with the declining quality of Doc Marten's I made the change to Solovair after hearing good things about the higher build quality.

What I received is a pair of boots with an internal seam with enough loose fabric that it bites into the top of both of my feet causing full on bruising if not held down with some electrical tape.

Then the heel sock came loose rendering the boots uncomfortable, after reaching out the company about this fault I was told it wasn't a fault but they'd send me replacement heel socks and I could repair it myself. Brilliant service.

Then whilst polishing the boots one of the eyelets fell out, on inspection it was misshapen and clearly installed incorrectly.

So all in all £179 for boots that didn't last 2 months from a company that doesn't seem to have any interest in standing by their product.

I ordered a pair of boots from Solovair but when they arrived they were two different shades of the same colour. After sending photos to Viv at Solovair she swung into action. Once I returned the original boots Viv hand picked a replacement pair to make sure they were perfect and sent them out ASAP.

Although my purchase wasn't quite the colourway I expected, the prompt response and continued support from Solovair with regards to my request for a return and refund, were both dealt with in a timely, most professional efficient and stress free manner, I will definitely purchase from this company again and highly recommend to my friends and family. Solovair's products and customer service are absolutely first class - the best you could possibly wish for. I have just bought a pair of 8 eye gaucho leather derby boots and I needed to size down a half size to ensure a perfect fit. All three people I dealt with (Viv, Joanne and Mandy) were exceptional and the boots are perfect (so, so much better than the competition). This is the fourth pair of Solovairs that I have bought and it certainly won't be my last Thank you!

I had been interested in boots by NPS Solovair since my brother bought a pair and eventually bought Burgundy Rub-Off 6 Eye Steel Toe Capped Derby Boot.
I wore them for the first time yesterday shopping in Glasgow and they were extremely comfortable, no rubbing, no breaking in, just very comfortable. They are incredibly stylish, fantastic quality and I love them. I stupidly bought the wrong length of laces for my boots and when I contacted the company they sent a free replacement pair straight out to me, brilliant customer service

I ordered a size too small, but the boot was very well made. Customer service was fantastic, I I would definitely buy from here again.

If you’re looking for a quality pair of Loafers or any type of boot for that matter, then look no further, Solovair’s selection and quality is second to none and the hassle free returns or exchanges service is incredible. I originally ordered an 8 which I thought was too small, then exchanged for an 8.5 which turned out to be too big, then re-exchanged back to my 8’s after some insightful info from Viv and the team! They were so quick to turn around the shoes during the whole fiasco and were extremely responsive in message as well.

As for the shoes, they are beautiful and incredibly well made, I can’t want to break them in and enjoy them. If you have any queries for the team don’t hesitate to ask as they were amazing throughout the entire order process.

I purchased a pair of platforms from solovair and to say I am disappointed is an understatement. After less then two months of wear, the sole of the platform is starting to fall off and the main part of the sole is detaching from the supports of the shoe.

This is the second time I had issues with solovair, my first pair had sole issues in which they promptly worked with me to fix however this time they haven't gotten back to me. I have already emailed them twice with no response. 200€+ shoes should not be falling apart in less then two months of wear. I had been waiting for these shoes to drop for almost a full year and to see them just fall apart is just disappointing.

Not only are they great boots because they are high quality and look awesome, but customer support went out of their way to help me with an issue and make sure I got the exact fit I needed. Many other companies would have ignored my problem but they actually took the time to help me, and I am now so happy with this pair! Thank you again

Bought a pair of the Brown Greasy Gibsons. Delivered on time, great fit and didn't really need much wearing in time - just wore them around the house for a day or two. I did have a slight problem when the leather got wet, but when the customer service team saw the photos they agreed it was a fault with that particular piece of leather and dispatched a new replacement pair without any questions. Great shoes and the best customer service I've had in a long time! Pleased to say the new pair are holding up just fine and it definitely won't be my last order.

A high-quality product (Black Greasy 8 Eye Derby), especially when compared to similar offerings from other brands. What really stands out though is the customer service. They really care. I highly recommend it.
