They do not provide any customer service to their existing customers. They are not even able to send a simple insurance card on time. They expect customers to pay everything on time, but they assume no responsibility for providing the customers with a simple piece of proof. I renewed my policy more than a month ago, they don't even bother sending anything about my new policy. After you purchase, you are on your own. Good luck.

I was looking for insurance, for a car registered in my gf's name. I went through an "insurance comparer" online. At first they quoted me $3??.?? for 6 months if paid in full. I thought that was a good price, and knew it would likely rise some once I clicked on it and entered some more information, with National General, instead of the finder, Experian. When I went to National General, as expected, they raised the "LOCK IN YOUR QUOTE" price, to about $7??.??, which still wasn't bad, compared to rates I had been getting. Which were one thousand plus. So that wasn't my "LOCK IN YOUR RATE" price, that Experian had quoted me. So I decided to go a head with the process to purchase. I put in my debit card info. Thought I was purchasing a policy, and when "finished", the website said my "Verified Quote" was being looked over, and my policy would be ready in a "few business HOURS" I went to sleep that night, and the next morning, woke up, she checked her email, and there was ANOTHER "VERIFIED QUOTE" OF $15??.??. Now I'm getting ready to call to make sure they aren't going to process her card, because why would they need her card info, if I wasn't making the purchase, as they made it seem, after their second offer? I will give a follow up after the call, but after reading the other reviews, on this site. I can see they are a horrible company, and I will not be purchasing a policy for 5 times the "LOCK IN YOUR QUOTE" price. I'm also nervous about them taking money off the card. AND NATIONAL GENERAL IF YOU'RE READING THESE. GET RID OF THE "FORM REPLY" TO ALL THESE BAD REVIEWS. IT REALLY SHOWS YOU DON'T CARE, OR WANT TO PUT ANY EFFORT TOWARDS THE PEOPLE YOU RELY ON TO PAY YOUR BILLS. HOPE YOU FIND OUT THE HARD WAY. (LAWSUITS, AND BANKRUPTCY)

I've had national general for 7 years on my motorthome. Never filed a claim. Sold my motorhome and called to cancel the policy I had just paid 149 dollars on. They told me I get 68 dollars back because it's prorated. Paid 149 on 3/9 26 canceled on 3/12/26. Their math is wrong. I wouldn't buy from them again.

customer service is very rude and they raise the rate of my policy without my knowledge so when I called they were so rude about it I wanted to cancel my insurance policy and they gave me not even half of the money back. I will never trust that insurance company again nor recommend them to anyone terrible awful people taking advantage.

This is the worst insurance company I've ever seen. Guys, don't waste your time with this insurer. They charged me $180 to cancel my policy #2031823142. And now they're charging me another $15 because they said I canceled the policy on the renewal date, which isn't true. I called to cancel my policy two days before the monthly billing date.

This company refuses to return calls. Allstate is famous for this. I was rear ended in Athens AL three weeks ago and I’m still unable to get my car fixed. Now the hatch door on my Acadia is opening while I’m driving!
I’m unable to turn my head completely and I NEED TO WORK EVERYDAY! I was a very active woman- gym rat, trail runner and hiker . Now I’m unable to do any of this ! If I wreck again due to this car being damaged, someone please bring a class action against this pathetic company! GOD THEY MUST BE CHEAP because they SUCK!

They charged my account on the 11th and I did not had the money on the account until the 12th when it's due but when I tried to pay it would not let me until the 13 so they could charge me extra 30 and a sur charge that's a bad move and can't get your money back

they changed my rate from 270 (which is already ridiculous) to 440 a month because i moved 15 minutes down the road.. literally 15 mins, same exact township. make that make sense.

National General is the absolute WORST. I went through them for a policy for my new-to-me RV and when my policy was finalized it didn't even inform me that the policy didn't cover comprehensive and only liability until I started reviewing the policy to determine why it was so cheap. I had to call to ask why I was disqualified from comprehensive, where they told me my RV was "too old" (it's a 2006). Upon signup, I paid for 6 months up front, and I tried to cancel online after 7 days of the policy being active and had to call to be told they only accept cancellations via signed letter. Frustrated, I emailed them a letter. I received a refund check in the mail for a LOT less than what I paid for the 6 month policy. I had to call and sit on hold for 30 mins for the agent to determine why. They charge a $25 early cancellation fee (!) and a $40 administration fee (?!) so the $7 for a week's worth of coverage actually cost me $72, which was HALF of the cost of the 6-month policy! THIS COMPANY IS UNREAL AND HAS SCAMMY PRACTICES - GO ELSEWHERE FOR CAR INSURANCE!

If you value your peace, time and money do not do business with this company. These people are unprofessional and unorganized. You can hardly understand what these people are saying and every time I spoke to someone the information was inconsistent. I had to ask if this was a start-up insurance company. I purchased an auto policy with them because they are affiliated with Allstate the carrier of my homeowners. I paid the 6 month premium in full which included PIP although I was opting out of PIP. After speaking with them on multiple occasion regarding a policy I had less than a month I came to the conclusion that it would be difficult if not impossible to deal with them during my time of need so I canceled my policy. I have reviewed their reviews and BBB complaints and found that I made the right decision.

Going on 5 months and still the claim is nowhere near processed or finished. Messages are never returned and I really find it hard to believe that a company with a 1 star rating is still operating. Something is off with this company and I think it should be investigated to make sure this is truly a legit company. All the other reputable insurance companies operate like actual insurance companies this one here almost feels like the insurance company is just the shell to Something else. My next step is contacting the BBB and working my way up until the claim is resolved......

Almost a month to date, my husband was hit by a National General policy holder while sitting at a red light. The claims adjuster Tanner, closed the claim for bodily injury because there was only damage to the bumper therefore he stated there was no bodily injury was caused. Closing the conversation, he stated that if more damages was discovered once the car was on the shop, the claim will be reevaluated. The car was placed in shop and frame is cracked from the accident. It has been three days since this discovery and he has yet to return our calls to reopen the claim. When we did talk to Tanner, he also said that they are not paying the hospital bill associated with the accident.

We had a small fender-bender during a right turn documented on our car camera and were not at fault . It took 5 weeks for National General to even respond to our emails and then only with SMS claiming the video they requested with SMS wasnt visible. With lots of arguments the granted a partial payment and we already went to get the most reasonable paint repair of a bumper. Avoid to buy this insurance at all costs.

I got only partial reimbursement from NG for minor damage inflicted on my car (~$400). I had dashcam video of accident and photos. They told me only the first name of agent assigned to the case and this agent choose to corresponded with me only though SMS. The whole process took 8 weeks.
