Expensive after covid and no choice to pay in monthly installments.
We stayed at haven in 2019 and really enjoyed it, however I was paying towards a holiday we could no longer go on in 2020 due to covid and I opted to leave my money in the account with £50 free food and drink vouchers.
The holiday we had chosen was in the platinum with decking for the weekend. We could pay by monthly installments and it was a good way to pay off a holiday in installments.
Then I have tried to book a holiday for this and next year but the prices re double what I was paying before and I can no longer pay in installments. You can pay a deposit and the rest 2 weeks before the holiday which is no use to nyone with the overly inflated holiday prices they have now implimented.
I'm furious, as working parents these small holidays are the little reprieve we get from work and home but now it's impossible with Haven.
This is the WORST EVER HOLIDAY
This is the WORST EVER HOLIDAY. Haven simply don’t care about the customer.
Where do I begin ???
My husband booked the holiday as he was keen to take our two little boys to Devon cliffs sandy bay - a place that his parents used to bring him when he was a little almost 40 years back. I went with it because it clearly meant a lot to him to take our boys.
DIRTY FILTHY CARAVAN on arrival. Oh my word it was not pleasant. So
I spent the first three hours cleaning and disinfecting the bathrooms and the kitchen. There was food on the cultery, cups had tea or coffee stains, crockery had food remnants from previous occupier
The sofas had crisps and bits of food in between the cushions. Microwave was not the best either and had food spillages in it.
BOOKING ENTERTAINMENT was a nightmare. Initially we were informed that we could prebook prior to arrival then the app was experiencing issues then most of the entertainment we wanted for the kids was all fully booked so we ended going off site.
Customer service.... does Haven actually understand what customer service is about.
If you are lucky to get through under 45minutes. Just shocking !!!!!!
STAFF ONSITE ... grumpy and not particularly friendly. Not eager to help and often come across as if you are bothering them when asking for directions or general help and advice
OVERCROWDED caravan site. It’s clearly a situation of biggest financial profits over customer satisfaction. Tacky and very populous and more of a council estate than a lovely holiday site
0 stars!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely awful
Stay away and don’t part with your hard earned money
Haven Martin Mere Blackpool
Haven Martin Mere Blackpool , where does one start. On first arrival we noticed that the pitch advertised on the their website as a super pitch ( what we booked for ) are actually photos of the more expensive euro pitches . The pitches that we were on were not maintained, the grass was long , the hedges had not been cut, and there was litter all over the pitch on our arrival. Unlike the euro pitchers that were trimmed neat.
As for parking, you have to park in front of your caravan which I was always led to believe that this is a safety issue as if there is an emergency and they need to move the caravan quickly.
My wife tried to have a shower there but the water was dangerously to hot and could not use them and you cannot alter the temperature.
If you have paid for The passes be aware that absolutely everything you want to do you will have to pre-book whether it is swimming, having a meal, or going to see the entertainment , Even if there is space inside they will put you to one side if you haven’t booked and tell you to wait to see if there’s any room at the end.
It also says on the Internet that Blackpool beach is just around the corner, it is actually an hours walk or 20 to 25 minutes on bus.
Haven need to reinvest in all of their facilities as we even had a game of crazy golf and all the sides were falling apart.
Our holiday was such a disaster we came home a day early.
Do not buy play passes!!!
Play passes are a complete waste of time and money so don't bother buying one. I purchased 2 for my twins on the first day at a price of £48, funnily enough they had a space the day after to book on for them and then said we had to check back every morning to book for the day. After that swim nothing was available and when we asked about the segways nothing available until 22nd august. Not much use to us on 1st August on a weeks holiday.
So that was the most expensive swim ever and not much else to do on the park either.
Should scrap the booking system it's obviously not working as everyone was complaining and no chance of a refund 🤬🤬
Reighton Sands
Avoid at all costs !!!!
Don't book play passes you might as well just hand over your money at least dick Turpin wore a mask when he robbed people
Can't believe customer services take your money knowing there's no swimming segways archery available
Restaurant filthy uncleaned tables food all over floor you book a table 1 hour wait for food that's when an overworked member of Staff has finally taken your order and you've had to choose an alternative as they don't have your 1st choice
Really unorganised did not see a senior member of staff or manager all week
And your front of house need some training telling people there's a fish n chip take away counter if your not happy disgusting attitude
Supermarket facilities brilliant and well stocked if a little overpriced
Haven get worse year by year and don't care especially towards private rentals as there not in there control of pricing
And i remember the words of one of there sales reps a few years ago whilst staying at thornwick Bay we'll get all the private vans of all our sites eventually even if we have to buy them out disgusting attitude
Will never stay on an haven site again
Craig Tara haven
Stayed at Craig Tara in Scotland. Trying to book anything is an absolute nightmare! To book anything in the evening you have to queue outside the reception so I spent and hour and half queueing to be told all the tables have gone! All swimming sessions had gone too. Such a shame as the park is actually quite nice
The caravan was absolutely filthy…
The caravan was absolutely filthy beyond belief. Kitchen floor was sticky and stained. The whole caravan was dusty with cobwebs everywhere. Microwave had a hole in the back of it. Went to unpack clothes and there was someone elses clothes already in the wardrobe that stunk of body odour!
Definitely could not stay in there and left within 24 hours. Upon removing the sheets descoved the sheets were stained and ripped and the mattress was covered in thick black mold!
Complained to an Abbie in reception who was great and gave us a full refund, to be fair.
Had an upset family so had to go and find alternative accommodation in Bridlington.
I will never use a Haven park again.
Havens idea of back to normal is not…
Havens idea of back to normal is not what it says on the tin. The company is using covid as an excuse to con us as holiday makers.
We just got back from holiday at Rockley Park with my grandson. We have been going twice a year for many years and yes we did rent a private caravan this time which was excellent. But Haven charge extortionate prices of £223 for passes and after they took our money they told us we cant use the my haven app, so was told we would have to que up from 9, but to get there extremly early as large ques were expected and even then could not promise any slots to be available for swimming/shows/sports. The Haven website says back to normal/no restrictions but we were told everything has to be limited even outdoor pool max 1 hour per day if any spaces and if it rain its tuff luck. There is 8 miles of golden sand 3 miles up the road so spent 4 days on the beach checked in at 4:30 got a refund the next morning on passes after told no pantomime/no seaside squad. When getting a refund we told manager we are due back sept 3 and asked will it be back to normal by then and was told no chance, so dont know if its worth going as that holidays booked directly through haven who are blaming covid for their bad service but noticed plenty of staff for the extra things they want your money on bar staff/dining staff/paint a piggy bank staff (what have they been doing for the last year company probably cashed in on tax payers funded furlough). cant blame local staff this must be a management policy.
Going to the press about no refund in the hope they finally listen
I was concerned about what I heard about not being able to book activities - we managed this fine and both check in was easy and caravan was clean. The issue was a large wedding party at a sister site and antisocial behaviour. The three Haven parks in Weymouth closed all facilities as they couldn't guarantee the safety of guests - staff were assaulted and other guests intimidated. We were offered a full refund if we left, or 25% if we stayed for the remainder of the trip but with no facilities. We opted to leave as we were near the entrance and we did not feel safe should these undesirable characters decide to show up and cause problems. It was clear there was not enough staff to cope with these issues. I felt sorry for the staff having to deal with this.
I felt this was the right decision by Haven at the time, but I have not had my refund yet and it is some weeks after this happened. The policy states upto 28 days and I have not received anything and can't get through on the phone, so I have no option but to make formal complaints, write to Watchdog, go to the press who ran an article about the closure of the site when there was first problems, and if that doesn't work it is legal action. At this rate I'm sure it will come to the latter, given that there is nobody to talk to on the customer service line.
It isn't just me who has been treated like this. There were many guests who left and from what I gather when I did manage to get through to the site they are in the same situation as me, and the poor staff member on the phone at the site (when I finally did get through) was dealing with lots of complaints. I'm not wasting hours trying to get through on the phone anymore only to be fobbed off yet again. I think if people make it clear how bad Haven are online, hopefully they will actually show they care for a change.
I wouldn't book with Haven again - look at the reviews on here for a start - but it does feel like they are a company slowly sinking due to staffing issues, and not refunding customers as promised gives the impression of financial difficulties, so that alone should be a massive reg flag.
!!!!!WARNING !!!!!
!!!!!WARNING !!!!!
Avoid all holiday with Haven As for this new booking system complete waste of time and money To match restrictions if you're lucky you might get 1 hours swimming within one week. but no restrictions in the arcades Where you can spend lots of money If you like sitting in the caravan and drinking lots and Paying for the privilege then this is the holiday for you ⚠️⚠️⚠️Only once who would give it a high rate our the caravan owners because if holidaymakers don't go there there site fees will go up obviously ⚠️⚠️⚠️and also they use a different booking system to holiday makers ! This can be manipulated not for holiday makers hint !! Call them to find out I am not lying ! Do not know why they are keeping it in placement other holiday camps are allowing free range in swimming pools what are they playing at Don't get me wrong it used to be a fantastic place before Covid 19 even tho Covid 19 is now almost finished they are still keeping this in place for the future no end date I wonder why hint . would Not recommend it or anywhere with Haven at moment As long as they have this booking system in place to much one sided hopefully they see sense and remove or increase your entitlements allowance on what you can do that then it would be a much better system this is only my opinion, ⚠️⚠️⚠️I do not think they should be cool to Haven Holidays anymore ! I think they should call it so Circus holidays all they need to do is dressed up Circus just outfits as this is one big joke at the moment ⚠️⚠️⚠️do not be upset if you go and you'll find out all this is true you have been warned save your money or go to Europe
I've just returned from Rockley Park…
I've just returned from Rockley Park Dorset and I'm now infected with covid. To be honest I'm not surprised, when you enter the park it's like covid doesn't exist. At a guess about 10% of the people there wore masks, social distancing was a joke, we avoided all of the entertainment
indoors as it was quite clear that people didn't care about covid, despite doing my best I've still caught the virus thanks to the selfish attitude of many of the guests on this site. Will never go on s caravan site holiday again with Haven.
Don't be surprised to see the covid pandemic rise again thanks to places like this.
Absolutely disgusted with how we've…
Absolutely disgusted with how we've been treated by Haven. We stayed at Littlesea and unfortunately football hooligans aswell as nothing being open meant we had to leave the site.rhe manager promised to call us, he never did and refuses to speak to us when we call. We tried head office, they aren't answering, we filled a form out online who simply haven't got back to us in the 21 days promised. Haven simply don't take care of families or value customers who have holidayed with them for years. Will never book with them again.
Lovely park. Haven greedy
We went to Perran Sands in June and feel that Haven are getting a lot of stick due to situations they cannot control. Covid had a massive impact on our lives and that includes the staff trying to supply services within strict guidance which includes reducing numbers on activities and reduced staffing.
Whilst I’d happily go swimming everyday we could only go twice. But that was okay given the circumstances and the fantastic location of the site. We had a number of issues with our caravan and whilst they were not sorted immediately on site, haven customer services on our return have been fantastic and I hope as they assure me it will not happen on my next holiday.
That said, Haven’s prices have shot through the roof this year and next, and by quite a large increase. Example I have rebooked the same week next year and the price is nearly £300 more! Breaks in the summer holidays are absolutely ludicrous as £2000-£3000 to stay in a caravan! At pre-covid prices I’d have booked two holidays as I have this year. But next year I’ve only booked one: That’s only one holiday a family will be eating at your restaurants, paying for activities and, shopping in your stores. A family that will more than likely go overseas the following year when all this is over, as we have done before. We were tempted by your reasonable prices, but now feels you get more value for money booking elsewhere, even overseas!
Whilst you may have a year where you can take advantage of holidaymakers who would normally go overseas, your inflated prices will exclude a big chunk of your regular customer demographic. I understand businesses have suffered, yet if your reputation has taken a massive hit this season and you still cannot provide 100% of your facilities, it would be more savvy to maintain your pre-covid prices and retain/win back your customers who will return year on year. Then you’d make up your revenue from on site sales. Rather than your current plan of hiking your prices, and thus expectations, losing even more. It smacks of greed to me.
Don’t bother with Thornwick bay
4 nights there unable to book anything for my girls, swimming once and it was very late for a toddler. I couldn’t book anything for my daughters birthday the reason we went.
They was out of food and drinks in the restaurant. We left a day early due to not having anything to do and no food to eat we had to buy food from their onsite shop. I could sit at home save my money and do that. 50 minutes after they took our order they told us they didn’t have half the order for breakfast, then another 30 minutes to bring the now different order absolutely no good when you have children 1 of them being a toddler.
You book haven and pay their prices so your children have a good holiday plenty of things to do but they haven’t lifted restrictions when they assured me on 3 separate phone calls I would be able to book more there, it’s complete lies so they don’t have to refund.
I did notice in the restaurant they had 2 people serving to a full room so I’m guessing track and trace has had all their staff meaning customers can’t do anything. They need to get honest and say there is a risk of you paying for stay and play (entertainment) but it might not happen instead of lying telling you you can book there. You can’t!
We tried surrounding restaurants off site fully booked up with haven guests…. What a surprise.
Disgraceful customer service caravan…
Disgraceful customer service caravan had stains on seating unable to swim or join in any activities as fully booked food box cancelled day before arrival and still waiting for refund and being ignored by email and they don't answer the phone!
If you're thinking of booking with these no good arrogant crooks, I would implore you to reconsider.
We were sold (missold) a holiday for £715 last week, throughout the booking process at no point whatsoever was it made clear, or even mentioned at all, that our package was what they call a 'stay' package. Which means that what we are paying for is solely to sleep in a caravan for three nights and have next to no access to any of the facilities our chosen park had to offer. This only came to our attention the day after we booked when fortunately, one of our party of seven typed our booking reference in to find out which child friendly activities we would be able to take part in during our stay. Upon finding out that we would be excluded from all such activities, needless to say we contacted Haven immediately by phone to find out if we could change our holiday to one on which we could do a little bit more than just play cards or watch repeats of only fools and horses in a caravan all weekend. We were informed by the woman on the phone that we would not be allowed to change our booking, and we could not even buy passes on our arrival to enjoy the facilities. The aforementioned woman blamed coronavirus restrictions (the ones that had been almost universally lifted across England). We decided our best bet would be to request that our holiday was cancelled and our money refunded, which the woman agreed and informed us that she had done just that, and we should expect the money to be in my account after 3 working days. That's fine, although it only took my payment 3 seconds to reach them.
Fast forward 3 working days, and would you believe, no money yet.
We decided to ring and find out why. As whenever I send payment to someone it usually arrives immediately. We got through eventually to a different woman, explained the above, and we were then informed by her that our refund is 'pending' and that we should expect to wait not three, not five, not seven, not even 21, but 35 working days, thirty- five days! To send someone's payment from their missold holiday which was paid in full within a few seconds, they tell us we should wait more than a month to receive it back. I came to post this review and was not at all surprised to see my one star review (if I could give zero I would), in company with plenty of other reviews just like it.
Dont book a holiday with these thieves. Just don't do it.
Dreadful booking system resulted in….No swimming. No entertainment. No activities! Don’t pay for a play pass!!!!
Not the Haven I used to know!!! We’ve been to a few Haven sites but things have really gone down hill to the point where we will never return. We were treated like second class citizens and our long weekend was ruined by a ridiculous booking system and miserable staff.
Once we checked into our caravan we headed to reception to buy the ‘play’ passes. We had booked the caravan via an agent so couldn’t buy these before our arrival (which is ridiculous!!!). And this is where the Haven system all fell apart. For those that had booked directly with Haven they could use their booking reference to pre-book swimming, entertainment and activities. We paid exactly the same for our passes that were included with directly booked holidays but we could NOT book via the haven app. This meant everything was booked up by the time we had checked in. We also had to queue every morning to attempt to secure something. The queue started at 8am and even getting there early resulted in not being able to book anything. No swimming. No entertainment. No activities. It was an absolute shambles. The system makes no sense - you purchase a play pass but yet treated like you’ve haven’t.
No one in reception was able to help. No one at our holiday booking company could help. Basically no one gave two hoots.
Haven you’ve let down hundreds of families and we will never return. Disgusted by your new covid system and how it excluded hard working families from being able to enjoy themselves. Thank you for nothing.
Arrived at Sandy Bay South Devon…
Arrived at Sandy Bay South Devon Exmouth ... Caravan apart of smelling of strong bleach it was filthy really dirty & dusty, the fridge was disgusting with smelly milk split unit that had gone of .... glasses , plates etc we washed again . £1300 including passes etc wasn’t bad , but we are still in Covid-19 times and for me this caravan should have been cleaned 100% better. Especially when we couldn’t book into the resort till 20:00pm. So shame on you Haven Sandy Bay for failing us and yourself £30 we spent unnecessary to clean your caravan👎🏻☹️
We have recently come home from a trip…
We have recently come home from a trip to Haven Weymouth Bay. What can i say its not worth the money.. The caravan smelt like sewage, we had to ask 3 times for someone to come clean it. You cant book the activities you want and no one in the camp knows what the hell they are doing and they all provide different information . The food on site is horrible and i would rather throw it at the wall, its a waste of money and quality is sooo poor . When you also ask to speak to a manager you may get one if your lucky or a security guard. They all seem to blame Covid as well. Covid has now been around for 2 years and they still cant cope. I have left numerous messages for someone to contact me and no one has !!!!!! terrible service
We were allowed to book two venues…
We were allowed to book two venues before we came, we booked bar and restaurant ( restaurant was cancelled before we got here) we haven’t been able to make a single reservation since. The main thing our daughter wanted to do was the swimming baths ( fully booked for whole week!). Really do sympathise with venues having to follow covid rules, and happy to go along with this. But for everything to be fully booked seems like bad management, we have paid £250 a night for this holiday, and can’t use any facilities. We could of been in a fancy hotel, with room service! So upset
