Pick-up and drop-off was a breeze, the people were friendly and accommodating, with fast service to and from the airport. All in all, great value for your dollar.
**Pay for the top insurance** it's not that expensive and saved me $1000 for a stone chip.

This is the first time for a few years that I have rented a vehicle to travel out of Christchurch and Bargain Rental Cars was a perfect choice for me. Everything went well and the vehicle proved to be a great choice and was comfortable and economical. No issues really and I enjoyed the trip.
The staff, both on the phone and in person were really helpful and friendly. I don't normally recommend businesses ti others but in this case I feel very comfortable doing so.
If you need a good rental car at a great price without any hassles, in my opinion Bargain Rental Cars are an excellent choice.

I wouldn’t recommend this rental company to anyone under 25. We booked through a third party (carjet, our mistake) through which we purchased platinum insurance. However, when we picked up the car we were told that our insurance we’d purchased through the third party wasn’t valid due to us being under 25, and that we had to purchase insurance with bargain rental car directly. We were informed that the only insurance policy we were able to purchase (again due to being under 25) was their gold insurance policy at 20 dollars a day, which covered most potential incidents- including windscreen damage. We were happy to purchase this and did so. Unfortunately whilst driving, a passing truck kicked up a rock, cracking the windscreen. Believing this would be covered by our “gold” insurance policy, we informed BRC of this immediately- only to be told by them that we had actually been sold their “comprehensive” insurance policy- a specific policy for under 25’s that doesn’t cover windscreen damage (or anything else seemingly). At absolutely no point were we informed of their comprehensive insurance policy- which is conveniently also priced at 20 dollars a day. In fact, we had been advised by multiple employees that we could only purchase their gold insurance policy given our age. When we did return the car and explain the situation (and which insurance policy we were misinformed that we had purchased), the employees were very polite and patient, but did still charge us the 950 dollars excess for the windscreen damage, and advised us that we should attempt to claim the cost of the windscreen repair on the insurance we’d purchased through the third party we’d booked through - despite us having been told that this insurance was not valid given our age. Ultimately I don’t think BRC is necessarily a scam, but we were 100% misinformed by the employee that sold us the “gold” insurance, and therefore should not have had to pay for the windscreen damage. I just hope our experience will prevent other young travellers from also being misled and ending up in the same situation.

Lots of fake 5 star. Reviews here. The first car offered, stank of urine. Only other car available wasn't much better smelling. Only after driving off, I realised the car would not be considered road worthy. Fogged headlight, non functioning side mirror adjustment, no water in windscreen wiper reservoir. The key fob failed to lock the car more than half the time. Rust patches and a missing hubcap plus a handwritten notice on the windscreen "STOLEN RECOVERED VEHICLE", was disappointing. They stung me for a 3mm stone chip $1290. Didn't notice it when I picked up the car, because they parked it in the dark, but inspected on drop off in bright light. Rather than fix the the list of issues, they want me to waste my time by contacting them, when all that's needed is to actually check the car themselves.

Corbin and Eric at the Christchurch Hornby branch were super helpful. Right from the get go phoning in to navigating an upgrade to dropping back off their service was awesome.
They carefully listened to us, answered our questions, came up with a great solution.
They were thoroughly pleasant and efficient along the way.

Excellent prices, very friendly staff, good shuttle service between airport and location of car. Car old (lots of kilometres) but comfortable and, most importantly, very reliable with excellent gas mileage. What else could anyone want?

I recently rented a car from BRC in Auckland and it was great experience from start to finish. Really nice helpful staff, a great car at a very good price. When I had a minor accident I notified them and when I dropped it off some weeks later they were pleasant and helpful. The manager said he would have it repaired and send me the documentation for my insurance claim quickly. He did and the repair bill was very moderate.

Pick-up and drop-off were very quick and efficient. And the customer service agent was very nice. The car was a bit old, but it was very cheap, so worth it. No major problems or issues to report.

Most staff were friendly and helpful, particularly a Mr. Harry Hackett who stayed over his work hours to help us. Pricing is the most competitive in comparison. I like their night drop off giving me longer time/less stress use of the car especially returning from long distance.
Night drop off included a free shuttle to the terminal when required. Top of my list for car rental. The only damper was that I was not able to get the car I wanted because of the peak season but the trip came out well anyway.

Due to a flight delay I ended up picking up my car in the early hours of the morning. Then my scrambled brain refused to give up the pincode to my credit card. The Bargin Rental night agent (flyaway) was courteous and contacted a Bargin Rental Cars agent (at 4 in the morning on a sunday!) who allowed me to take the car out with a cash deposit. Really saved my bud! The little van I rented wasn't new but worked just fine. Good value for money and nice staff! (thanks Tina!)
