If I could give zero stars
If I could give zero stars, I would.
As Peninsular made every practicable attempt to remove my previous review, and the latest one was successful, I will place a new one that complies with Trustpilot's terms.
You may have changed your business name to obviously get away from the extremely poor name Employsure had, but unhappy customers still continue to experience what my company had with you, which is why I want to warn anyone else who considers using your terrible company.
Before you sign up, read the other 1-star reviews first. You will see a pattern just like what we experienced. I will not mention the person's name that I signed up with, but I was lied to, saying it is easy to cancel your contract, it is not. You will be given an invoice for 30% of the 5-year term to pay immediately if you wish to cancel; this is the only option available. It cost me after 3 years of nothing and unhelpful staff, approximately $30,000 in Direct Debits, and then they wanted another $3,600 to get out of the contract.
The other thing they do is the automatic rollover of the 5-year contract. If you do not cancel it at the exact time stated in the contract, it will roll over another 5 years.
I am sure Peninsular will respond. We do not have me as a customer, and I am protecting my business from retaliation, as I am still active. I was a customer for two contracts with you, for employment and hazardous substances. I do not want you to contact me unless you would like to return the $3,056.60 you made me pay to exit this totally unfair business model you seem to feel is fair. I would like to add that this amount, you originally invoiced me for $3,595.86, but when I did not agree and cancelled my Direct Debit, you reduced it. You had every power to cancel the contract, yet your greed saw it differently.
You would never have had this review if you didn't have these ridiculous contracts, and you keep trying to take my reviews down will result in me responding every time until you change your policies and make it fair to others.
To add, I do not believe for a second that all of these 5-star reviews you have been getting lately are genuine. You used to have a 2.4-star rating on all your reviews; all of a sudden, you are up in the 4+ star ratings with multiple 5-star reviews every month, yet your contracts remain the same.

Disappointing experience with Peninsula Group NZ (formerly Employsure)
Our experience with Peninsula Group NZ (formerly Employsure) has been disappointing and frustrating. We were rolled into a renewed contract via a single email during the holiday period, despite barely using the service and receiving no value from it. When we attempted to seek support, we were met with dismissive responses and no meaningful help.
Trying to exit the contract was difficult, and the continued direct debits placed unnecessary strain on our small hospitality business. While Peninsula claims the renewal process is “clear,” that does not reflect how it was experienced, particularly at a time of year when most businesses are winding down.
I have chosen not to continue engaging with them and did not complete their post-review information request, as I do not feel comfortable with how they handle communication. It is telling that such requests only seem to come after critical reviews, not positive ones.
In reviewing other feedback, it is clear this is not an isolated experience. A pattern emerges: automatic renewals, difficulty exiting contracts, and the flagging or removal of negative reviews. While their Trustpilot page shows mostly glowing feedback, many first-hand negative accounts like mine do not seem to stay visible for long.
I am currently resolving this through the appropriate channels, including the Commerce Commission. My advice to other small business owners is this: get everything in writing, keep records, and be extremely cautious before signing anything.
A review should not require a reviewer to risk further contact or pressure. Suppressing critical voices will not fix what is fundamentally broken in the way this company operates.

The worst company to deal with - Stay away!
We were sold a product that wasn't fit for purpose, tried to cancel after a month, I have battled for the last five years. Haven't used any services since originally signing up but have been locked into an unreasonable contract.
Worst decision of my life, please don't enter into a contract with them
