It's a no brainer when traveling in Japan. This was the first time a rented a wifi modem so I'm not comparing here to other providers.
I Reserved online, the device was waiting for me in a nice envelope in my hotel in tokyo.
Reception was great in Tokyo, Hakine, Osaka and Kyoto.

I used it in metros and trains fast speed and both my wife and I where connected all the time during the day. The device held battery all day never had to charge it with the provided battery backup.

I would do it again every time in the future. Highly recommended.

Easy pick-up at hotel and easy at airport to drop off in mailbox. Worked quite well, we had pocket wifi.

Charger is only for usb, not compatible with usc which is what is used most by us, so the extra pocketcharger wasn't of any use. Lucky we had one taken from home, otherwise it was impossible to charge both our phones.

Except for that it was great to use.

This is the 2nd time I've used this company and for the most part, everything was fine. The only thing this time was that the battery didn't last as long as it did the first time I used this company. The battery drained faster than I expected so I took the power bank and cord along with me. I never had to use the power bank but I feared running out of battery. I'd recommend this company despite this small concern this time.

Simple to pick up and use immediately. Battery life is solid and the unit came with a power bank for longer days out. Drop off is extremely convenient.

The device was delivered to my hotel prior to my arrival. I was able to effortlessly connect to WIFI using several devices.
Clear instructions, including photographs for posting the device at the airport as we returned home. Prompt email to confirm receipt of device. Seamless.

Second time using pocket wifi from Japan Wireless. Great solution for travelers. Ordering, pick-up and return are supereasy. Great value for money. And it works very reliably, except for remote and mountainous areas of Japan. We visited Kyushu. As long as you’re in inhabited areas near the coast, reception is perfect. When you’re visiting the more adventurous inlands and drive up mountains connection gets lost very easily. And thats where you need navigation most. Solution: download an offline version of the local map(s) on Google Maps and get off the grid for the rest of the day…great! 😉 But seriously: its not relaxed to find out your wifi doesn’t work when you’re on some roadtrip on narrow mountainroads and have no idea where you’re heading anymore. Hence: 4 instead of 5 stars.

Everything worked; the delivery and the wifi experience during the rentall. Receiving and sending was easy.

We were given an old router and the battery runs out by early afternoon. Have to charge so many times.

Website to book router is USD default and not JPY which is unusual for a Japanese company.

Excellent service. The package and device was waiting at the hotel reception as arranged. The device worked perfectly with good battery life. Ideal for 3 of us to use the internet simultaneously. The spare power pack helped when we were out on the go all day. Easy return process by putting the preprinted envelope in the post at the airport.

Pickup and returning is very easy. Setting up is not necessary, everything works automatically. Coverage in all of Japan was good. Speed is sufficient for small tasks. For large tasks the 4G speed of the router was on the low side. Sometimes not more than 5Mbit/Sec.

Very good connection. There was no any interruption during the period of 3 weeks we used. Highly appriciate the connection.

All day battery the service was great and the device was quite compact, my friends was having issues with their carriers but i was able to use my devices normally, truly a great service and i will be using it again on my next visit to Japan

Very easy to collect pocket wifi at airport and quick and easy to set up. The signal strength was excellent and we never lost connection even when underground. Device is small and easy to carry around. We ha two phones and an ipad connect continuously for 2 weeks. The daily battery life was great, lasting all day and charged overnight. Free power bank as well, which we never needed. Easy to return by post at airport.

We rented a mobile WiFi router from Japan Wireless for our three week Japan travel period 17 April till 6 May.
It worked very well! We had a small issue once after a couple off days with the router when it stopped working and was hot. When I contacted the help desk via email, they were very fast in their reply and the problem was solved very quick (the module needed to be rebooted). The battery of the mobile wifi router lasted a whole day when fully loaded, when I used it intensively i used the power bank that was supplied with the router ( i had to use this only 3 or 4 times during a 3 week period). When visited an area with low coverage the wifi router stopped working, but that isn't surprising, because that also happens with your mobile phone when you put it in mobile network usage. We returned the mobile WiFi router very easily, using the provided return envelope on the terminal 1 post box on the departure floor at Narita airport.

The pocket wifi truly served its purpose as there’s reliable internet wherever we go whether in the countryside or inside shopping areas. Great thing is that there’s an back up power bank if the pocket wifi’s power is low. We’ll surely rent one when we go back to Japan for out next adventure.

I use Japan pocket wifi every year when I visit Japan and the service is always first class and hardware reliable. It’s actually a pleasure to deal with Japan Wireless and the communication is timely. I’ve picked up wifi at airport, had it sent to hotel and picked it up at post- office at different times, always without a hitch.
Every year different travelling companions are thankful at some point because their global roaming is sub-standard at times, or they simply need more data.

Did an initial 2 week period but ended up needing to extend another week. Extension request was easy to submit, link for it was even included in their deadline email they sent on the approaching return date.
Used their Pocket WiFi service, for 3 people and their 5 mobile devices, and the coverage was great!
There were some dead spots but only in areas one would expect such, undeveloped areas, mountain hiking, river running, ferry boats off shore, shinkansen/train tunnels but usually in most cases there were facility offered WiFi alternatives. Save for wilderness locations but in those cases don't worry about it and enjoy the nature.
Second time using their services and still just as pleased with them. Would've liked to use an eSIM but my phone isn't compatible with eSIMs, perhaps next time with a phone upgrade.
