as for OR TAMBO, i am not sure why they have emails and phone numbers because they are not efficiently using them , calls are hanged up and emails are being not answered. please tell us do to walk ins once because perhaps thats how one may reach you

Just Imagine, you are from abroad, rent a car to visit some game parcs , out in rural areas. Sandy roads and it rains many dass, so the car gets dirty outside and inside. You get charged an additional cleaning fee! No considerations, these are the terms! Thank you Europcar for your lack of understanding and empathy. Next time no more Europcar for me, anywhere in the world!

I hired a car in South Africa and I did not notice a very minor scratch on the rear bumper which must have happened in a parking lot somewhere. I received an invoice showing that in addition to the cost of the repairs which I accept, they charged an exhorbitant amount in fees which I believe are completely unjustified.

Wir haben zwei Autos über
billigermietwagen.de bei Europcar gebucht. Das erste Fahrzeug mit Abholung und mit Rückgabe in Johannesburg und das zweite Fahrzeug mit Abholung in Port Elisabeth und mit Rückgabe in Kapstadt.
Bei beiden Rückgaben waren die Fahrzeuge voll getankt und uns wurde im Nachhinein einmal sechs Euro nach belastet und beim zweiten Mal noch dreister 50 € in Rechnung gestellt. Wie gesagt es waren beide Fahrzeuge vollgetankt.
Zum Glück hatten wir die Tankbelege aufbewahrt und Fotos von der Tankanzeige gemacht und konnten somit der Rechnung widersprechen.

Ich rate jeden das gleiche zu machen.

Es sieht mir nämlich nach einer gezielten Masche von Abzocke aus.

Nachtrag: nach mehreren E-Mails zwischen Europcar und mir kam dann ohne ein Wort der Entschuldigung eine Gutschrift.

We picked up a vehicle on the 17 August 2023 from the Europcar managress at Europcar Bloemfontein near the Sasol Technikon. She wanted us to drop off the car at OR Tambo at 11h00 (stated by Dalene). As we checked the vehicle Dalene admitted it was dirty. Dirty it was as even the engine and inner bonnet area was full of mud. A few days later we drove to Johannesburg and I decided to do right and clean the car properly including inside the engine compartment. We fueled up the vehicle and drove from Greenstone Gauteng to OR Tambo. We got to OR Tambo at 11h25 am. Note 25 minutes later than Dalene stated. This due to the proper cleaning and traffic on the way to OR Tambo. I asked "KD" the vehicle checker at OR Tambo if all in order as we were 25 minutes after the check in time. He said all good including that the vehicle was so clean and filled with fuel he could rent out the vehicle immediately. Well the Europcar invoice arrived and I was charged another day of rental. Why did "KD" not say so as I would have taken the car for another day. But how can a full day be charged if I was 25 minutes over the drop off time as per Dalene at Bloemfontein (2 witnesses present). I did not mind if even an hour was charged but for 25 minutes I was charged a full 24 hours??? That is shonky business practice. You cannot justify this kind of nonsense. Hence I paid R 715 for cleaning your dirty car. All kinds of stupid doing that to a sincerely paying client. Dalene was emailed by us and threw herself out of the matter. Poor show. Especially when she said she was not done right when travelling. Well karma is for those who dish it out unjustly! A friend of mine told me he was charged R 600 after renting a car for the car mats having been dirty of mud. Again Dalene threw herself out of the matter then. Sounds familiar!

If you love your peace and your hard earned money avoid renting a car from EUROPE CAR!!!
1. I rented automatic, when I got to OR Tambo Johannesburg the car was not available and they were trying to convince me to take manual I waited for sometime finally got the automatic only to find the speedometer not working and the car had a slow puncture. I called and reported, I also asked for the car to be exchanged and they gave me a run around for a couple of days and thank God for a good manager in VANDERBIJLPARK he exchanged the car for me in a day . At the end of a three weeks rental I returned the car fully tanked and the condition I got it in. But no I got an invoice for the gas and an email stating that the spare tyre is damaged!!!! A lie ofcourse because I didn't even touch or use any spare tyre. When I objected they told me it's not a tyre but a windscreen that is damaged!!!! Lies again because I dropped the car without any damages whatsoever!!!! Got charged for the gas for the tank that was full and now are being defrauded with my deposit!!!!Please avoid being defrauded and not rent from this company!!!!!!!

Book with them at your own peril. I rented a vehicle from the George Airport Branch of Europcar and everything was wonderful until I returned the vehicle. I forgot my prescription sunglasses on the front seat once i got into the airport i realized this and ran back to the Europcar parking area. Not even 10 minutes and my glasses were stolen. Since they are prescription they are totally useless to anyone else.... After arriving back home i contacted Wings, the travel agent used to book the vehicle and this started a process of contacting various Europcar staff to look in lost and found and on cameras etc. It was found that apparently the parking area has no cameras, as if that's believable. Then i get a bill for four times the quoted amount. Lots of extra charges for waivers i never agreed to and extra KM which should be included. Europcar are thieves and cons. That is all there is to it.

We walked in to Europcar CapeTown a guy named Andre assisted us. We clearly asked if they have any automatic small cars on the system he quoted me a price for the four days. my husband and I confirmed with him that this is the final price. We returned the car in the condition we received and exact timing we were thereafter billed a totally different price, after calling the center Andre refused to accept the quote he gave us and insisted that was manual when we clearly stated from the beginning and only agreed as we couldn't afford more. On the receipt when we checked he gave the amout he deducted with the deposit due and not the hire fee , they now do not return my money according to what I was quoted, we were so sure of the quote that asked for a recording of our discussion he said there is nothing like that . Be very careful with them you think you going to a realible name and won't take from any company however They are theives ,my husband and I would have never agreed to the high rate and would have gone to another car hire. So when read all the reviews of how people are cheated never book with Europcar

Kimberly branch is so unprofessional, I picked up a car and there was no one to inspect a car with when I picked it up in the morning ,then the reception lady said that the car was already inspected before my arrival.it had a crack on the steering as I picked it ,little did I know that was not suppose to take it. later on the branch calls me and say I cracked the steering wheel and I will be liable of the damage. Its now my word against them not doing the Job correctly. I requested that they give a CCTV of us doing the inspection with "Neo" they did not provide. If you can do the forensic on how it cracked and when you will realize that I am being framed for their incompetency. Why must a client pay for the branch mistake?

it seems like returning deposit is a problem for this company....I've been waiting for my deposit for days not, and sending them emails is not helpful 😒atleast give me a date on when are you going to refund me

I wouldn't recommend eurpcar for anyone rather try hertz, dollar ,etc but not europcar🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮

Slechte ervaring met Europcar in Kaapstad. Trage en incomplete check-in. Moeizame check-out bij terugkeer met vermeende schade aan plastic wieldop. Daarna bijn 6 weken wachten op teruggave van borg obdanks dat ik alle risico had afgekocht. Zou dus zeker deze verhuurmaatschappij niet gebruiken.

R400 admin for a speeding fine! I paid the R200 speeding fine and they charge me R400 admin! Shame on you Europcar

My insurance referred me to Europe car.. everything was ok but then got into an accident with their car ... Not my fault, was hit by a truck driver who skipped a red robot...
Gave all the necessary information to Europcar and paid R4500 access for another rental... Now I am liable for R14K bill??? What is insurance for? So Europe car is claiming from me and the truck insurance??? Isn't that fraud? I said to them that I can only pay the R14k, if they give me the written off car ....

I rented a car at Cape Town Airport when visiting my parents. The customer service was great. There were 0 scratches on the car and it was equipped for all my travel needs. I got my full deposit back😍

We have incurred multiple charges that were paid twice. We paid a one-way fee on the original booking with Argus, yet it was deducted from our deposit. our card was charged for an additional day, yet it was also deducted from our deposit. We initially paid $163CAD in our booking, after adding a driver and an additional day, our booking cam to $498CAD. None of the numbers work or are answered. No one is available to assist. Terrible customer service. It is taking my time, which also costs me even more money. I will be reporting all parties involved publicly if not resolved

The service was a disaster.
The employees were unfriendly and motivation is something else.
Then they give me a car that was dirty and damaged, but point out that the car has no scratches.
Unfortunately, when I noticed the damage, I had to go back to the office and point out to these motivated employees that the car was not perfect and was also dirty.
The fact is, be careful if you take over a vehicle there and it will certainly cost you, absolutely not recommended.

Minor dink on n/s/f wing (no paint damage - assumed a parking ‘incident’). Returned with absolutely full tank diesel. Lost all deposit (£675) + a £178 ‘fuel’ bill.
No explanation or justification of charges received - just taken from credit card…
Total rip-off…! Bordering on fraud/theft….

I would not recommend to use Europcar. From gettin a car that was not even close the class I booked to holding back the deposit for 30 days for not any reason, it mainly is all nothing than a headache.
