Ive never had a worst banking experience in my life and i had no idea banks can be that bad. Jut completely unprofessional.

Met with new banker

Met with new banker, to open a credit card. Had to go to adjudication. Two weeks no response. No matter how many emails I send, no response.
This isn’t a bank, it’s a complete clusterf*ck.

The absolute WORST bank in Canada. Staff and processes are slow and convoluted. 3 hours wait time to speak to an individual, he comes on and says he has not reviewed my case so couldn’t give me ‘details’ & the person working on it was not ‘confident’ to speak with me about it. For matters involving thousands of $, perhaps employ people who at least have enough education and ‘common sense’ to handle people’s hard-earned funds. And absolute joke of a bank.

CIBC Bank – Business Client Support Centre** ⭐☆☆☆☆ — *1 Star. Because you can't rate on a negative scale!

What didn't go wrong this time...AGAIN! I'm still waiting as of yesterday afternoon at 3:09 p.m. a reverse charge to my business debit card for $2,938.00!! Where is my money 💰??

Let me be absolutely clear: what I experienced today with CIBC's Customer Care and Business Client Support Centre was not just disappointing — it was a masterclass in institutional incompetence that left me questioning how this organization still operates at scale. I wish there were a way to do business account setups through online banking sites like Tangerine, President's Choice, Simplii, EQ Bank, etc..

Even the salespeople at the Apple Store were trying to help me to overcome the bank's failures as they were astonished at what I was experiencing while on the phone with multiple agents.

I've started a business in the AI Technology sector. And my partnership with CIBC is questionable. My time is money as any business owner, Every minute I waste on hold, being transferred, or repeating myself to yet another unprepared representative is a direct cost to my livelihood. CIBC doesn't seem to understand that. Or worse — they don't care.

It started simply enough. A straightforward business banking issue. Something that, by any reasonable standard, should have been resolved in under fifteen minutes. Instead, what followed was a two-hour spiral into absolute chaos.

The first representative had no idea what I was asking about, not a partial understanding — zero. To be fair the phone number I called on my business debit card goes to the customer service center and not the business customer center. Why isn't the direct number for the business centre not printed on the cards? Doesn't this financial institution understand the stupidity of this error? I was transferred to a second rep? Same story. Different script, same result: nothing. I was transferred again. By the third transfer, I had re-explained my issue in full — from scratch — three separate times, to three separate people, none of whom had access to notes from the previous call, apparently. Because CIBC's internal communication is nonexistent.

I was placed on hold for over twenty minutes for the third time. The hold music felt like it was specifically designed to break your spirit. When someone finally returned, it wasn't even the same person. New rep. New introduction. Same complete lack of awareness about why I was calling.

At one point, I was told my issue would require an agent from the business centre. HOLD ON! I told the agent. Isn't this the business client centre. I had been transferred from the business centre to the customer centre to be transferred back to the business centre? And after another 20 minutes on hold... I'M DISCONNECTED...WTF!!! 😡 🤬

What makes this worse is the condescension layered throughout every interaction. The polished, robotic tone that says "I completely understand your frustration" while doing absolutely nothing to resolve it. That phrase — "I completely understand" — might as well be CIBC's unofficial slogan, because understanding the problem is apparently where their involvement ends.

No accountability. No escalation path that actually worked. No supervisor who magically appeared when requested — just more hold music and more empty promises.

This is not a bad day at the bank. This is a broken system pretending to serve business clients. CIBC has built a support structure that protects the institution, not the customer. Every process, every transfer, every scripted non-answer exists to exhaust you into giving up.

And maybe that's the strategy.

If you're a business owner considering CIBC — or currently banking there and wondering why every interaction feels like you're fighting upstream — this is your warning.

You deserve a banking partner that respects your time, your business, and your intelligence.

CIBC is not that partner.

Service très médiocre

Service très médiocre, n'ont pas le désir d'avoir des clients satisfaits car aucun effort n'est fait pour résoudre les problèmes de leurs clients, ils ne répondent que c'est comme ça que ça fonctionne... de plus application mobile désorganisée, trop d'onglets inutiles, mal conçu ! Évitez cette banque à tout prix ! Toutes autres banques sauf eux, CIBC, en dernier recours et même j'y réfléchirais avant...

Worst bank in Canada. They lie cheat and swindle customers. Hidden charges galore and absolutely no resolution skills..will take money from dying people. Be careful when you refinance an existing Loan with CIBC

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience regarding the refinancing of my personal loan at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC).

Due to an error made by a CIBC staff member during the refinancing process, my loan amount was incorrectly increased. As a result, my scheduled monthly payment — which is set up for automatic withdrawal from my bank account — was affected, and I missed a payment. This issue was not caused by me, but by the way my refinancing request was handled.

For the past three days, I have been contacting the Loan Department and Customer Support to resolve this matter and have my loan restored to the correct amount. Unfortunately, no one has been able to provide a clear solution. My calls have been repeatedly transferred from one department to another without resolution, and on several occasions, the calls were disconnected while I was still seeking assistance.

I was also repeatedly told that a supervisor would call me back, but I have not received any callback. This lack of follow-through has been extremely frustrating and unprofessional.

The overall telephone banking experience has been very disappointing. I expected better service, especially when dealing with serious financial matters that directly impact my credit and personal finances.

I hope this matter is addressed urgently and resolved properly.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce Breaches, Violations & Fraud on customer who doesn't understand English language.

He Lied, Cheated and deceived and above all We feel unsafe giving this CIBC branch our personal informations. This action is Breaches, Violations & Fraud by the CIBC staff. I will report this incident to the right government body. I will file lawsuit against this individual. This Employee opened RESP account with out the will of the client. He cheated the client and made her sign with out understanding what she has signed.

Alleged Perpetrator(s): Vusal Mammadov (CIBC, Fergus, Ontario branch)
Amount Involved: Over $80,000

Details of Complaint:
Between January 27th and 28th, the aforementioned CIBC employees allegedly acted against my explicit instructions as the recognized Power of Attorney for my mother's accounts. My mother is incapacitated with dementia, and I am the sole signing authority under a POA document that has been certified and acknowledged by CIBC.

I provided specific directions to Vusal Mammadov to liquidate all investments and cash out the accounts, as I intended to transfer our business away from CIBC. Instead of following these lawful instructions, Vusal Mammadov allegedly seized control of the accounts and blocked my access, effectively misappropriating the funds and preventing me from fulfilling my fiduciary duty to ensure my mother's proper care. This conduct is in direct breach of the terms set out in the POA document and banking regulations.

I have already reported this matter to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) for theft.

Desired Resolution:
I demand the following immediate actions:

The immediate release of all funds in the affected accounts via a certified check, available for pickup at the CIBC branch in Grande Prairie, Alberta, attention Parminder Ghuman.
A formal, written apology for the illegal conduct and the distress caused.
The immediate initiation of an internal investigation into the actions of Vusal Mammadov

Expérience franchement choquante

Expérience franchement choquante. Après avoir accumulé 450 $ en remises sur une année complète, CIBC a annulé 100 % de mes récompenses parce que j’ai dépassé la limite ridicule de 2 000 $ pendant quelques jours, alors que j’étais en voyage.

Aucun avertissement. Aucune compréhension. Aucune flexibilité.
Même avec un historique de paiement généralement responsable.

Ce genre de politique est purement punitive et démontre très peu de respect envers les clients. Si vous voyagez ou dépensez normalement, sachez que vos récompenses peuvent disparaître du jour au lendemain.

À éviter sérieusement.

CIBC liars

CIBC is closing my accounts because of fraud but they never told me they said they did but they didn’t. They lied and said they did send me a bunch of emails about it. They never did. CIBC is liars just like every other bank in Canada banks in Canada suck would not recommend CIBC or any other bank.

NOT INFORMED

I opened a bank account with CIBC in August. At the time, I was never informed about the $500 incentive for new accounts. I opened the account primarily because I already have a care loan with CIBC and wanted to keep track of it.
From August until now, the account was not acitively used. Recently, I decided to move all my banking, including my savings, RRSP's, Chequing, everything to do banking with CIBC making it my main bank.
It was only at that moment that I learned about the $500 incentive and was told i was not eligible, even though I had never been informed about it when opening the account.
This lack of transperency and communication is very disappointing, especially as a loay customer considering moving ALL my banking to CIBC

Had to give one star because zero stars…

Had to give one star because zero stars are not allowed. Reinvested TFSA after I told them paperwork had been submitted to transfer to another bank. Then proceeded to say they could not tell me if the forms had been received. You only get ten days to decide if you want the investment to stay, but it would take them at least five days to get any information about the transfer. Told them I would be pulling my over $2000000.00 in investments from their institution, their answer sorry about that.

CIBC Credit Card department, THIS IS NOT FARE !

I am a customer of CIBC and just recently lost my Hearing , a Medical condition from a Vaccine injury. So I cannot hear, am Deaf now. Due to suspicious fraud on my Credit Card CIBC put restrictions on my Credit Card which is ok with security and they texted and asked me to call and dispute the fraud, I am Deaf and cannot hear a thing, so I can speak to a Customer representative BUT cannot hear what he says. ?? I am in need trying to book for an urgent Flight with the Credit Card, but card wont allow payments to the Airline. I called and spoke to the CIBC Customer service representative explaining to him my problem and many times telling him am Deaf cannot here but I am asking for an option to be able to communicate. I mentioned to him my Phone number and Credit Card information. That option seems not to be there. Any where even in my online banking CIBC keeps saying : Contact us by phone, where it says email us , it will take you to phone service and says Call us. When I called I kept pleading to the Customer Representative asking him for help so that I can make my Flight booking, but I could hear abit of mummering sound but cant hear and I kept on saying Please am Deaf but to no help. I felt like I was a beggar begging from the Company holding my Money. They put security measures which is good but forgot to put up some other help for people like me with Deaf ears. I even asked the Customer representative if I could be let to speak to the Supervisor BUT still no help. The Flight fares keep going high, it will still be me to pay high flight Fares not CIBC. I dont know if they care after they got the money. They would care if I was a new customer trying to find where to keep my money. It is very sad, I can still not book my flight. CIBC Credit Card department, THAT IS NOT FARE TO SOME ONE LIKE ME WITH THE NATURE OF MEDICAL CONDITION I HAVE. I hope you care.

Horrible experience with every interaction

I opened an account with my spouse about a year ago and needed to interact with the bank probably a dozen times. I kid you not, EVERY time we have had any interaction with CIBC there has been an issue. From over an hour wait time on the phone, to the wrong information being presented to us and then backtracked by them later, to greasy stuff like having to pay 2% back of the balance on a LOC + interest (btw we were told that 2% part very sneakily while the rep did a quick contract regurgitation to us over the phone... This makes it a loan, not a LOC. And if you prefer to not engage with their customer "service", CIBC's website is probably one of the worst banking websites I have had the displeasure of using. I highly advise anyone to stay clear of CIBC.

One of the gym branches is withdrawing…

One of the gym branches is withdrawing $15.81 every two weeks. I previously closed my account with them and contacted the bank, who confirmed the account was closed and the money would be refunded. However, the gym is still taking the money, and I don't have a membership. The bank's service is terrible, and I want to file a complaint against them. They are the worst bank I've ever encountered. Please, if you know where I can file a complaint, let me know.
