Transaction info and customer service
I needed to get some transactions information from 2022 to 2023 as on my statement it does not specify where the money went. They could not provided to me at the branch and refused to let me speak to a manager about it. I called the phone line and they stated I needed to wait 24 hours for the information ti be sent to the branch. Poor business poor customer service. The worst part is I have been loyle to them since I was 16 years old.
Extremely archaic
Extremely disappointed that the only 2FA that BMO offers is sending an SMS/call to access your account. So, if there is no cell reception due to weather, remote location, battery life, or lost phone, there is no way for you to get into your account. I even called the call centre (from another phone) to ask help to get into my account, but they said there is nothing they can do. This is archaic as poor cell reception is not uncommon, and I would expect better from one of the biggest banks in Canada. Until this is addressed, I do not recommend BMO and you’re better off with TD, which is years ahead of BMO technologically.

I have been with BMO for 40 years and have NEVER had a problem. They are patient, cheerfully helpful, great fraud department, got my money back within days when I was scammed!! Always warn me if they see something suspicious with my credit card. Don't know what all the naysayers are talking about!!

I did, it asked me to enter the card number which I did then it asked me for a telephone banking pin which I don't have or forgot. There is no option to speak to anyone, it hangs up! Funny thing is when you talk to the about online banks like Tangerine, they say they don't have branches, wait until you have a problem! Well can't be worse than this and FYI, I also have a Tangerine account and I can always reach someone.

Worst bank ever they lock my card on the middle of the night inconvenient my work that I have to put gas to come back home I call and some guy name Carlos was lying to me saying that I have to go to the branch the next day to unlock my account I told him that the bank it won’t be open Good Friday and he insisted that the branch are open is a little bit sketchy went we trust a bank to keep safe our money and they lie about that is time to change bank and put a report against them
10-year client stranded abroad: BMO deleted my online enrollment by mistake
I have been a loyal BMO client since 2016, holding multiple accounts, a line of credit, and a Mastercard. I am currently traveling in Romania, and for the last 10 days, I have been completely denied access to my funds due to a staggering level of administrative incompetence.
I contacted BMO support when I was not able to access my online banking. Instead of helping, a representative DELETED my registered phone number and my entire online banking enrollment. I am now being told by their call center that I am "not enrolled" in online banking, despite using it successfully for 10 years.
The quality of service is unacceptable. I have spoken to multiple agents who refuse to provide a Case Reference Number or escalate me to a supervisor. My formal emails to the Resolution Office and the Customer Complaint Appeal Office (CCAO) have gone ignored.
As a Canadian-Romanian dual citizen, I am now stranded without access to my bank account. I am formally requesting a Senior Officer to perform a manual override and restore my access immediately. If this is not resolved, I will be moving my entire banking portfolio to a different institution and filing a formal complaint with the OBSI and the FCAC.

Unotherized charge fixed quickly
I had an unauthorized charge on my account for quite a large sum of money. I didn't order the product, I didn't want or need that product, I hadn't even been looking at it and I had never heard of the company. I was having a panic attack when I called BMO about it, and although I was respectful to the agents, I probably wasn't easy to work with at the moment. They calmed me down, asked me some questions and began an investigation. Two days later I awoke to an email letting me know the charge would be reversed within 3 business days. Thank you BMO. And thank you to the call center employees who were very patient and diligent in getting all the nessisary info to file the fraud report. (Apparently I'm not allowed to say their names in the review).

Recently in asia and they locked my account and as I locked my credit card, leaving me with few options, they said you have to contact your in Courtenay, the manager took 5 days to contact me forcing me to cut my 2 month vacation to two weeks. If your traveling expect them to cut your life line and have no remorse. I got back home because I had a friend purchased purchased a flight. A complete abomination in there ability to take your resources away because of a 100 dollar transaction that was legitimate. Don't let them do this to you, use any other bank that has 21St century fraud detection not 10 th century. 😡

I was very unfortunate to open a BMO investor line account with this bank. This bank's investor line customer service is extremely poor, non qualified agents who always blame the customer for any thing go wrong. I opened a spousal RRSP account with the BMO investor line and their agent advised me to transfer funds from my other bank and my spousal RRSP will be in my name as my spouse is a stay home e mom and does not and can not have her own RRSP. I spend $7500.00 and opened a spousal RRSP. But this bank when issued the receipt , it printed me as annuitant and my wife as the owner of the RRSP. This caused the Canada revenue agency to reject my spousal RRSP and imposed an $8500 tax on myself. When I called BMO, their rude and non qualified agents put the blame on me and in spite of so many calls, they refused to issue me corrected RRSP slip in my name. After so many calls and complaints, one of their agent told me if I want to have RRSP in my name , I have to pay $500.00 plus interest charges to correct the receipt. I would advise any body who is thinking to do banking with this bank that never do any business with this bank. Its third rate customer service is rude, poor and always blame customer rather than admitting their own negliegience.
Stay away from this bank and save yourself.

I would give them zero stars if I could their treatment of their longtime clients is absolutely disgusting.
Theft or they can't count you decide.
This bank can not even count or they purposely turn a 4 day hold on a bank draft deposit and then turn it into eight days. This is theft at the corporate level and will be my last experience with them.
