Super Rude Phone Rep
I was helping my dad with access to his online account. It appears that he has been locked out since the website did not send out verificaition codes due to a system error. We were on speakerphone and once I spoke up, the CSR immediately shut down the conversation and told us to call back. I explained I need to translater for my dad, and he cut me off with the same comment. I then asked for a translater and he hung up on me. We have no way of accessing our money and the CSR did not care at all. It is the worst treatment I have experienced at any bank.

They don't deserve 1 star
They don't deserve 1 star. Complete incompetence from their entire estate department. Dealing with my late mothers account it took 6mo to get clear communication. Mark from their department insured me that a draft was to be expedited out after noticing a miss on their end after months of delayed communication and lack of service. After another few weeks with no follow up from them, I communicated and they let me know that the draft is now out of their control.
They missed multiple deadlines and had no customer service in order to help. They have created financial hardship for my family during a very sensitive time and took no responsibility on the matter.
I will never bank with tangerine, I will make sure that everyone I know moves from ever banking with tangerine.

Terrible customer service, in both English and French. They are rude and it's sometimes difficult to understand them. They don't seem to care.

We got money taken out by a fraudulent check where the signature is clearly different but the manager for security was rude and dismissive claiming the signature looked exactly the same. They never provided us with any support and refused to initiate an investigation. Horrible horrible bank. Someone should lock them up as they’re scam artists

Terrible service. They blocked a transaction, and eventually my card. So I called to gently notiffy them. And it's like I was bothering the lady. She asked me a bunch of questions, but kept cutting me off. I left the call feeling 'wtf just happened?" Just bad energy overall.
End of an era
I've been using Tangerine/ING for over 15 years and I used to love them, but a few years ago they started going downhill. There are a lot of glitches and missing features in the website/app and the support keeps getting worse and worse. If you use any financial management apps like Mint, Neontra, Lunch Money, etc., it will routinely disconnect or fail to sync transactions because it uses out-of-date authentication methods compared to other banks. When I emailed their client care address asking if they were aware of the issues and fixing it, I got a very vague canned email in response "thanks for your feedback". The original reasons to use ING were their high-interest savings accounts, which are no longer competitive, and the strong online banking services, which have now fallen far behind the competition. I'm currently in the process of moving everything off Tangerine so I can close out the accounts.
False promotional rate ADVERTISING
I have been with a client of Tangerine (previously ING Direct) for over 15 years! I finally accepted a preapproved credit card with 0% balance transfer. I just learned that any purchases made upon this "balance transfer" means you will pay interest (at the normal rate) regardless. Meaning, if you proceed with a balance transfer then you need to NOT use this as your primary card. Proceed with the balance transfer BUT DO NOT ACCUMULATE OTHER PURCHASES. This is FALSE advertising and I was drawn into it.
Tangerine Canada keeps ignoring my complains for years!
This is a follow-up Tangerine Canada post relating to my complaint post on Trustpilot dated March 4/26.
I spoke with an "Alex" at the Tangerine Canada call centre also on March 4/26 about my frustrating & totally negative experience I had with this "Bernice" person who put me on multiple long holds when I was simply asking her what interest rate I was getting for my savings account before him.
This "Alex" person first demanded for updating my personal information because I "have not access this account for a very long time." I told "Alex" this is an active account & I access it on a regular basis. He then put me on a long hold & said he still needed to update my address, phone number, etc. as I "have not updated this information for a very long time."
I complained why he said I have not access my otherwise active account for a long long time to begin with & get me worried & scared unnecessarily. Why did he automatically just said the incorrect thing that is not applicable to me or my account, etc.
I also challenged this "Alex" person Tangerine is sending me regular account statements & none got returned to them. Also is is customers' responsibility to notify them about address/phone number changes, is it not? Since when & on what ground that Tangerine needs to intimate us decent did nothing wrong customers with no information changes with their administrative need to "update"......
I also wanted to confirm my complaint on "Bernice" was in place & in good order. "Alex" kept telling me my "call-back request" was in place & a supervisor would call me within x number of business days, etc.
Same as my multiple previous complaints with Tangerine Canada, nobody from Tangerine Canada ever called since March 4/26. Seems to me that my complaints have all gone missing, ignored & discarded........AND THEY DO NOT CARE!!

My goodness! What an ordeal!
On March 16th I opened a new checking account. Verified my identity in the App and everything looked great. I deposited my first paycheck and then the problems happened. I am apparently being flagged and need to send supporting documents to verify my SIN number. Fine... But a SIN is optional for the account, they say... but now it is imperative it is verified.
I send the NOA from CRA as a supporting document. It is supposed to take 2 business days for them to look over (that's what the tangerine app says when it solicits more documents)....
I call them today and they say "Oh, it takes 3-5 business days"... I say, "Oh, that's different from what the app says"... they say "Yeah, that's if you upload from the app"... I say, "Well I wasn't given that option, just a documents at tangerine.ca email, mailing address or this number." He hangs up.
Tangerine's own privacy policy says email isn't secure for documents and then gives you an email to submit your documents... VERY ODD.
Now the other thing that I must mention is that the call quality is terrible. The 3 times i have called Tangerine, I had to ask the individual to repeat themselves, crank my volume to a level that isn't recommended and try to decipher thick accents... all while trying to get my point across and try to get theirs...
It sounds like a loud mall food court in the background. You are somehow able to hear everything around the operator, but can't hear them...

Make sure not to lose your password. The on phone experience is horrible. They ask weird questions like when was a credit card activated, what the client number is, which company did you last get credit from, etc.
And the lady's accent is atrocious and barely understandable. She's calm and patient, but seriously, why do companies hire people for call centers who do not have basic handle of the language...
Problem
I used the Tangerine very years. I changed my cell phone number because I can get in my account. Months ago I had a stroke. I have trouble speaking. My daughter called the help centre. I am on the phone with my daughter. My daughter explain she is my Power Attorney. I answer a few security questions. The woman didn't question for me called the help centre. She is leave our conversation.

Ich bin und war nie Kunde bei dieser Bank und trotzdem erhalte ich seit mehren Monaten die ganze Zeit irgendwelche Infos zu einem Konto was mir nicht gehört. Außerdem werde ich mit nerviger Werbung zugeballert. Wie kann eine Firma so abfucken und nerven. Nicht zu fassen.

Do not use this bank. The wait times to actually talk to someone at this bank are horrible. And when you finally actually get to talk to someone, they don't know what to do. They usually have to pass you to someone else and even then they seem to be clueless, that is if they don't disconnect you instead of transferring you which happens quite frequently. Talked to security dept 3 times. 1st one didn't know what to do. 2nd one told me what to do but I later found out that he was wrong. 3rd one to be determined. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BANK

They keep pointing the finger to technological difficulties as I wait for answers. Too much time has been wasted on something that ought to be straightforward. I can't even begin to picture what will happen when I attempt to access the others if this is how they behave now. I feel like I've been deceived and defrauded.
I've been with #ECHOMINES for a while, and everything has been stable. Requests are handled promptly.
Tangerine Bank is the absolute Worst. Don't bank here. You have 0 clue who is handling your money and account. WORSE than 0 value for the customer.
If there was an option to choose 0 stars I would. So to start the fact that 0 isn't an option is also my complaint. There was a slight issue with a negative balance which was immediately corrected with a sufficient positive balance. The agent confirmed that the only requirement was for the balance to remain positive for at least 24 hrs which it most definitely was and still is. I confirmed if there were any blocks or holds on my chequing account and multiple different agents said no everything is fine. Yet everytime I used my card it declined every single time! I called again and the same degree if incompetence ensued. Instead of resolving the issue, this guy who could barely communicate, almost 0 banking or customer service experience forget professionalism canceled my card knowing full well that access to my funds was critical. So now I not only STILL have 0 access to my funds but have to wait for a new card in the mail. The 4th person I spoke to in this line of despicable service was the worst. He was SO Incompetent he had the audacity to be offended! I wanted to laugh out loud but I was to pissed to someone THAT stupid had access to my account. DO *NOT* Bank with Tangerine.

Tangerine is AWFUL!!!
When I first opened my Tangerine account things were much better, however over the years they have become dismal. Their customer service is non-existent. If you have an issue you have to fight with them for months. I have now had two awful experiences with them. The first was regarding a deceased estate, which I had to escalate to get resolved and took over a year. They did not act within the legal banking framework and were terrible. Yet after this painful experience, I continued to bank with them. Most recently I had fraudulent charges on my credit card, I followed all the steps; Police report, reporting to the bank immediately, filing with the consumer fraud bureau of Canada and am currently in escalation with Tangerine. Despite credit cards having a zero liability clause when you did not knowingly give out any card information, they are trying to make me pay for fraud that is very clearly not mine. A purchase of airline tickets was made in a country I have never been to by people I do not know. They did not take any responsibility for stopping charges that did not fall into my normal spending, they did not cancel the flights via a chargeback with the airline, they did not even get the names of the passengers. They have failed miserably in being a responsible bank. I will be escalating to the financial ombudsman next and moving and closing all Tangerine accounts. DO NOT BANK WITH THEM!!
