They kept our deposit of 900€

As we didnt have a debit cart, we were asked to pay a 900€ deposit. It has been 4 month since we gave back the car without any problème, and our deposit was still not returned. No answers to our dozens of mails

Avance a Creta: ti noleggiano un’auto piena di piccoli bozzi, tu fai le foto ai danni maggiori ma quando torni per riconsegnare l’auto ti addebitano 124 euro per una micro lesione invisibile, che già c’era. Non vi fidate, a noi hanno fatto un furto, siamo indignati. La “signora” che si è occupata di ritirare l’auto non parla inglese, ha trafficato mezz’ora intorno e dentro l’auto per farci perdere tempo, maleducata e sgradevole. If the customer fails to notify the rental station of any concerns, preferences, or dissatisfaction in a timely manner, the station may be unable to offer appropriate assistance. Crooks, unfortunately

The reviews saying Avance (and sister company Trust) is dishonest are, sadly, correct. We rented a car from Chania Crete that was very scratched up, yet the form showing prior damage listed only two small scratches (out of many). I took lots of pictures on pick up to document the prior damage.

The car was parked at a resort nearly the whole time and could have suffered no new damage, not that anyone would notice. Sure enough after drop off we received an email saying that part of our deposit will not be retuned due to two scratches - and one of them was one they had documented themselves. I pointed that out and sent my time stamped photos of the prior damage but they are still keeping (stealing) part of the deposit. It is an amount calculated, I expect, to equal a typical travel insurance deductible because they don't want to deal with a big insurer coming after them.

I give them 2 stars rather than 1 because they competently supplied a working car as organized online. Which can’t be taken for granted in some places.

Unethical values in running a business

Be aware when hiring from this company going also under the banner Gliberatos.

At the offset l always have ran my company's business based on ethics and fairness however, l can't make the same appraisal about this company and their values.

I recently hired a car from their office in Kephalonia.

Unfortunately l returned it with a small scratch on the wing mirror, about 2 cm long....actually not that discernible.
I expected a charge but what followed was a disgrace.
I was subsequentlyv invited into their office and for the following 3/4 of an hour was made to feel like l was a criminal by a cold and inept person in their office.

l knew there would be charge but was subsequently advised that there was a standard charge of €200 and it could have been worse but for some discount. Laughable, this almost sounded like a favour.
(As an aside this repair would have been about €30 at home in the Uk).
I expressed my surprise at such a penalty but knowing that she 'held all the cards' she just shrugged and with a shocking lack of ambivalence just asked me to sign the document and told me the charge would be subtracted from my deposit..

There are many expletives to describe my experience but in summary l duly advise any person who is planning car hire to avoid this company.

I WILL HAVE TO SUE TO GET MY DEPOSIT BACK

Do not believe their statement that your deposit will be refunded. They never returned my US $1500 deposit, which was charged to my credit card (instead of just “held”). Avance stated that the deposit would just be held and refunded immediately after returning the car. Over two days after I returned the car, no refund and the deposit was charged. AVANCE WILL REPLY TO THIS POST SAYING THAT THEY ARE NOT MISREPRESENTING, etc - DON’T BELIEVE THEM. BELIEVE THE HORRIBLE AVERAGE RAYUBG AND GO WOTH A DIFFERENT CAR RENTAL STORE.

I WILL NEED TO SUE FOR MY REFUND! STAY AWAY!

Avance Autovermietung in Patra-Araxos

Um anderen die Bedenken zu nehmen schreibe ich diese Rezension, denn nach einigen schlechten Bewertungen hatte ich ehrlich gesagt auch Zweifel, ob wir wirklich ein Auto bei Avance mieten sollten. Trotz Zweifel haben wir den Mut gefasst und über Check24 bei Avance in Patra-Araxos ein Mietwagen gebucht. Und wir wurden positiv überrascht! Der Service war äußerst freundlich und kompetent. Wir erhielten einen kleinen Citröen, der sich in einem guten Zustand befand. Die Rückgabe verlief ebenfalls reibungslos. Insgesamt können wir Avance in Patra-Araxos uneingeschränkt empfehlen – ein preiswerter Vermieter mit einem tollen Team. Absolut top!

Bei der Abgabe wurde fieberhaft nach einer Blessur gesucht. Es wurde ein winziger,kaum auffallender Lackfehler gefunden, angeblich durch eine andere Tür verursacht.Trotz Vollkasko ohne Selbstbeteiligung wurde uns der LackSchaden von 375,-Euro berechnet-auf die Frage dass ich ja deswegen Vollkasko ohne Selbstbeteiligung gebucht habe, sagte mir der sehr unfreundliche Mitarbeiter von Avance ,ob er selbst für den Schaden aufkommen soll??Zum Glück hat sich check 24 sehr gut darum gekümmert und das Geld wurde uns zurück überwiesen. Dieser Ärger mit Zeitverzögerung wäre nicht nötig gewesen!

If your booking was made through Check24, as you indicated, and you selected additional insurance through their platform, the procedure is as follows:
The extra insurance is provided by Check24—not directly by the rental company. As stated on their website, in the event of any damage, the customer is required to pay the rental provider for the damage first. Then, with the proper documentation (rental agreement, damage report, invoice, etc.), the customer can submit a claim to Check24 to be reimbursed, provided they have chosen the additional coverage. It is the customer’s responsibility to read and understand the terms of use of this additional insurance. The rental provider is not liable for how third-party insurance works. Therefore, the damage must be paid directly to the rental provider, and then reimbursed by Check24 if applicable. We sincerely regret any confusion that may have occurred due to a misunderstanding of these terms, and we are happy to hear that Check24 was able to successfully assist you and refund the amount.

Schrottauto bei Avance Car Autovermietung

Wir hatten bei Avance Car Tinos einen VW Polo gebucht. Der Polo, den wir erhielten, hatte 120.000 km auf dem Tacho, die Handbremse funktionierte nicht und die Höhenverstellung des Fahrersitzes war kaputt. Nachdem wir fast einen Unfall gebaut hätten, da der Wagen zu schwach war, um eine steile Straße hinaufzufahren, reklamierten wir das Auto. Prompt wurde der nahezu schrottreife VW Polo gegen einen Renault Clio mit nur 18.000 gefahrenen Kilometern getauscht. Allerdings war das Auto ringsherum verkratzt, verbeult und sah sehr mitgenommen aus. Im Vergleich zu den Autos der anderen Vermietern am Ort hatten wir sicherlich das schäbigste Auto von allen. Alles in allem das schlechteste Auto-Mietverhältnis, das wir in all unseren Urlauben gemacht haben. Diese Autovermietung können wir absolut nicht empfehlen!

We are glad, however, that our team responded immediately and provided you with a replacement vehicle — a Renault Clio with only 18,000 kilometers, which, according to our records, had no mechanical or functional issues. You used this vehicle for 9 days without reporting any problems, which suggests it performed reliably during your rental period.
We regret that the exterior condition of the replacement vehicle did not meet your expectations. On islands like Tinos, due to challenging road conditions and frequent use, some cosmetic wear is unfortunately more common — even on technically sound vehicles.

Had a great experience with Avance in Paros & Naxos. Both cars were clean and reliable, especially the car in Paros which was an upgrade at no extra cost. No issues on returning either car, including the rep meeting us at Naxos airport at 7am. Would recommend.

Hidden cost on so called bio cleaning for the interior.

Google and Truspilot mentioned about the hidden costs and it was correct.
Hidden costs:
There have been complaints about unexpected charges, such as for "bio cleaning" for salt on the seats.
Please be careful everyone.
It costs more than car rental itself (twice the price of per day rental fees) unfortunately. It was not specifically mentioned during the pick up and was not in the report. Since car has many damages externally, didn't pay attention to the interiors. Only realised about the surprised unforseen charges incurred when dropped the car off. It was indeed an unpleasant and bad experience. The lesson learned with huge cost.

Don't use it!!!

We used the office at Tinos island. They insisted on buying extra insurance but it was overpriced and we didn't buy it. Then when we returned the car they charges us €242 from a scratch that it was barery visible to the eye and to the photo. The employee admited to our face that the will not fix the scratche because it is high season and they can't afford to have the car at service. Then why do the charge us for something the won't fix???? Scammers!!! Don't use it

Please allow us to clarify that each customer is informed upon vehicle pick-up regarding the standard insurance coverage included, as well as any optional additional coverages available. It is entirely at the customer’s discretion whether or not to select these additional options.
Upon return of the vehicle, damage was found that was not present at the time of the pick up. You were duly informed of this, the damage was shown to you, and you signed the relevant documentation acknowledging the issue.
Kindly note that all our vehicles are repaired according to our own schedule—not based on individual customer preferences. As rental vehicles, it is imperative that they remain in proper condition and are repaired in a timely manner to continue serving other customers, and for this reason, delays in repairs are not feasible.

As damage occurred during your rental period, you were responsible for covering the cost, in accordance with the terms of the rental agreement. Therefore, we do not understand the basis of your claims or the accusation of dishonesty, which we find both inaccurate and unfair.

We’d like to clarify that salt stains, especially from wet swimsuits or towels, do not come out with standard cleaning and require a specialized bio-cleaning process. As stated in our rental agreement, vehicles should be returned in approximately the same condition they were received to avoid additional cleaning charges.
Regarding our staff, we strive to communicate clearly and professionally with all our customers. The colleague professionally explained to you in detail the process of removing limescale from the seats, the time required. She even printed out the necessary procedure for you in detail, informed you that the car would not be driven for a day to dry the seats, showed you the terms of the contract you had signed, etc. At no point was there any intention to be rude —our colleague was simply explaining the situation and the relevant policy, which you repeatedly refused, until you addressed the employee, mentioning that she should clean it with a cloth and that, if the station proceeds with charging for the damage you caused, you would proceed accordingly with a negative review. We sincerely regret your comments.
As stains occurred during your rental period, you were responsible for covering the cost, in accordance with the terms of the rental agreement. Therefore, we do not understand the basis of your claims, which we find both inaccurate and unfair.

I booked a car through Car Rental with full insurance. The employee at Avance told us we didn’t have full insurance but some kind of “double city” and asked us to pay €84 for full coverage. Never again, scammers. Terrible experience, do not go there.

Upon delivery of the vehicle, it is standard procedure for our staff to explain the insurance coverage provided based on the reservation made. Additionally, our team informs each customer about the optional insurance upgrades available. The decision to purchase any additional coverage is entirely at the customer’s discretion. At no point do we apply pressure or require customers to opt for supplementary insurance.
From your comments, it appears that you voluntarily selected additional insurance coverage at the rental desk. If there was any misunderstanding or if the terms and conditions provided on the partner website were not fully reviewed prior to booking, we sincerely regret any confusion that may have arisen.
Given the above, we are concerned by your comments and the negative review, which seem to stem from a misunderstanding rather than any fault or misrepresentation on our part.

Awful experience

Awful experience . We were given a van with empty battery. As soon as we arrived at our destination the car was dead. We spent a whole weekend on phone calls, waiting services and trying to resolve an issue that shouldn’t happen in the first place. Rude stuff , no compensation.

Your response is honestly embarrassing, and I seriously wonder how someone with this attitude holds that position. A 10% discount on our NEXT rental for a weekend completely ruined for six people? That’s what you call compensation?

Also, a dead battery is not a “random incident” — especially when it keeps coming up in recent reviews. Clearly, this isn’t just bad luck. Is it normal for your customers to waste their vacation time dealing with maintenance issues? Because that’s exactly what happened.

And then you mention “aggressive attitude” just because we left a bad review? Maybe you should first look into your own team’s behavior — rude, sarcastic, and completely unhelpful over the phone, while sitting under their AC, as we waited for hours in the middle of nowhere. Shameful, really.

We sincerely regret the unforeseen event you encountered. However, as we have already informed you repeatedly both by phone and in writing, our company is not in a position to foresee or be responsible for random incidents that do not fall within the scope of basic vehicle maintenance.

Nevertheless, our company's response was immediate and effective, offering you the best possible solution, in order to continue your journey without any problems. In addition, we proceeded to compensate the battery, while you were also provided with an additional discount, as a sign of goodwill and respect for the customer.

Therefore, we are unable to understand the persistent defamation of our company, as well as the repeated and unjustified aggressive attitude towards us.
