The booking process was easy and straight forward. All extras were explained clearly.

My reservation is not on Thrifty Rental system and I cant access the reservation or check in on line in advance

Good prices, rules very clear. I booked with AuroEurope many times and I was satisfied each time.

Auteueurope is a simple way to find and compare options for car rental. You just put in dates and locations for pick-up and drop off and a range of options are quickly shown, with the cheapest in each vehicle category highlighted. I've used them for many years without encountering problems, and any time I've had to contact customer service the support and courtesy were good.
As seems to be the case with anyone providing any car rental services, there is a certain amount of pressure to take out additional collision damage waiver insurance now on the site, which previously one only had to endure at the rental company counter when picking up the car.

Booking was great as usual but I needed help at Rome airport. I rang for help in locating the pick up point. I rang for help from Auto Europe after the local office of the car rental would not answer the phone.The phone was answered in a different language and I was not given an option in English. I rang the Irish number ,the Italian number, the German number all with the same result. Ended up paying 50 euro for taxi to car hire. On returning the car 3 weeks later the staff were different people and the man dealing with me stoped to answer the phone and gave instructions for the pick up point. So I was not the only person to have had this problem. The staff on the first day were letting the phones ring out in my presence. There were no signs at the airport for off site car hire rental pick up. They are only allowed to pick up from the departures area. When I needed help at the Milan airport a few years ago I rang Auto Europe and got speaking in English and they were more than helpful so I thought this time they would be their for me but I was disappointed. Centauro was the hire company and the difference good staff makes is amazing. Pick up was a disaster, return was fantastic.

Easy to use. Great price. Great choice of vehicles.

Auto Europe system just states that it can't provide a quotation and doesn't give a reason.
It took me a while to figure out that by returning the vehicle just 30 minutes later, it was able to provide 2 quotations.
This is very frustrating and must, sometimes, loose Auto Europe business.

I booked through a company benefits portal and was expecting an "up to 30% discount but what i got was signifciately lower

Autoeurope was outstanding up to the Wheego (unknown and well below par) experience of Apr 2024.

Avoid Wheego In Bucharest at all costs.

1. Booking vs Picking up the car:
- The 550EUR credit card block advertised when booking the car turned double when picking up the car.
- The full tank advertised when booking the car turned almost an empty tank when picking up the car.


2. Wheego is abysmal:
- 1 Agent (operation) that could not care less (e.g. filthy and smelly cars).
- The paying terminal did not work. It took ~30 min of trying to use my creditcard and calling the banks to realize that the Wheego payment system was malfunctioning and needed a hard reboot.
- Although I've booked a renault clio (present in the parking lot when collecting the car) I got a poor rusty & abused dacia.
- The inside of the car was filthy when I picked it up: mud throughout the car (as seen in pics/video).
- New dashboard lights started coming on after ~100km. The carefree/careless agent explained on the phone that it was the poor quality of the fuel (obviously
not during the first ~100km of driving it without refueling; only after that the fuel became an issue...). The the TMP came on as well.
- After removing all the chemical cocktail of air fresheners and turning on the A/C fan, the cabin started smelling like a corpse (that poor air filter was decomposing).
- When returning the car the carefree agent wanted me to look for carwash to wash the car (I was supposed to get on
a plane to get home not act in another car-wash movie) in order for him to inspect the car. The car was actually pretty clean but I pointed out
that klasswagen bucharest (used before) washed their car before inspecting it. But wheego being a 1 carefree agent operation did not have this basic facility...
- After returning the car the carefree agent decided that he discovered a dent on the boot of the car. Lucky me I took pics and a video of the car when I picked it
up that showed the boot dent was there before picking up the car but was only visible from specific angles with the naked eye (clearly visible in the video).
- The carefree agent decided to block the money on my credit-card for another 30 days until the preexisting boot dent was sorted out (or until Wheego can try to squeeze some cash out of me I guess?).
Luckily I have the video proving the dent was there before picking up the car.

3. Conclusion:
- Autoeurope used to be brilliant (use them in the USA and throughout Europe) and needs to get back in the game.
- Wheego Bucharest is abysmal and is best to stay away unless you want to complicate your life. At least get all the insurance you can and abuse your camera phone.

Simply and easy process

It was misleading as I expected 20% reduction in my booking , but not fir my first booking

Great prices and ratings generally very accurate

Stop making unnecessary charges for cancellation prior to the booking - the 48 hr cancellation charge was most acceptable

great site that I have used now for many years. The cars are always great and the service is usually great as well. The ability to cancel bookings is a big plus as sometimes plans change.

Great selection and prices at location we needed. Have used Auto Europe many times and never an issue. They use good partners.

I wish everything was working as smooth and hassle free as autoeurope.
