Great tour. Audio headset was great for the tour. The tram for those who aren’t able to walk it was wonderful to use.

We loved the audio tour and being able to walk around at our own pace. Excellent visit all the way around!

It was an informative visit but thought we would see more than we did.

Our Alcatraz tour was amazing! Our family of six—two seniors, two kids (ages 8 and 3), my husband, and me—had a wonderful experience. We brought an Austen stroller, and it wasn’t too big for the tour. Although it’s steep we still made it to the top, I highly recommend bringing a stroller especially with kids. Staff are very nice, the booking process was easy, and the boat departs on time.

Majority of the experience was closed due to renovations. We couldnt see the dining hall, the showers, the hospital or the outside court. Pretty disapointing for a $80 visit...

The booking is easy. The shuttle boats are clean and well organized. Alcatraz Island is maintained and the self guided tours are very informative.

The orientation was helpful, informative and a great start to our visit. The audio tour provided interesting insights into the lives of prisoners and staff, including the poor treatment of minorities. We learned a lot about the occupation by Native Americans. The entire experience was fascinating!

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Gift shop had great selection and extremely reasonable. The audio tour had a great pace, excellent information and easy to follow. I will be back for a day trip so I can see the full site.

Employees were informative and having them explain things at the bottom of the hill after getting off the ferry was helpful. Giftshop merch was AMAZING... thanks for having a fun sense of humor (i.e. prison issued shirts, tin mugs, spoons for digging out, and the Alcatraz "fog" globes!... we were not planning on the merch being as great as it was!). Would be nice to have more restrooms available, especially at the top, but appreciate the warning that's given at the bottom of the hill beforehand. Audio tour was REALLY good--we talked about this for quite a bit afterward, noting how much attention was given to making the tour as accessible as possible, regardless of cognitive ability/educational background, physical ability, and for non-english speakers... thank you for making this something everyone can enjoy!

I love the history of this place, I never knew it had cannons. The place itself, is trash. The outside of everything is COVERED in bird feces. And to allow that to happen is truly a misfortune. These birds don’t need another sanctuary, it’s disgusting. And all the flies that land on the feces and then on all the visitors, is plain and simply, gross. Not to mention all the dead birds just lying around. All the buildings being “restored” look more like storage areas, and probably have been for years. This place wasn’t worth the ticket price. And I couldn’t bring my water bottle because it might end up as trash, but I could purchase your water bottle… make that make sense.

The self guided tour was very well done and helpful.

Great price, wonderful boat crew, amazing staff helping and answering questions. Really cool stories from staff about the inmates and some of their experiences. The night tour has some added benefits but you do see more in the daytime tour. We also got to see how the door system worked and that made the whole trip. Really cool experience.

The tour was fantastic. I learned more during the audio tour of the cell house than I’d known before. The walk around the island was amazing, and leisurely since we did have to stay with a group. Highly recommend

Over priced

There were just too many other people. The experience felt very rushed and lacking information and organisation.

Great experience, logistically well planned out and executed. Accommodated a lot of people well. We were a group of four, on the self guided walking tour two of our tour "walkman" type radios worked great - the other didn't sync with where we were, but we were able to work around that. Boat ride was great, appreciated the ride up the hill for us older folks. Great day - thank you all.

I would have liked to see more of the prison. it felt very short lived and not value for money.

Tricked into spending more than the direct purchase price

To many stairs and kind of boring

It would be nice to know in advance that the tour is no longer offering visits to certain areas such as medical, dining, and showers and that the cell house tour was cut short from the past.
