There is so little promotion or advise in the world on buying your property 50/50 Tenants in common. It should be the main one in every marriage. Reason: So much better for dealing with separation, death, care homes. One of you dies and their 50% goes into trust for the kids. THIS is essential for all home owners who may one day have kids. If you die, your partner will not grieve and stay single forever, therefore when they remarry and this ensures your kids are forever locked in as beneficiaries. This will stop the majority of your property go to the care home if one of you requires care. As the one going into care, you only own 50% and they can only take a percentage of that. Lastly, love doesn't last forever, 50/50 is pretty much the standard anyway, but surely this makes it clearer. As I say, it doesn't get talked about enough, so Your Conveyancer has set up a new process to ensure they can put this in place. Bumpy road, but they are getting there, nice people, but hindsight could have gone smoother.
