Requires way too much personal information
This service is terrible and requires excessive amounts of highly sensitive information to verify basic facts. I suspect they use a terrible AI program that doesn't even read the pages correctly to understand basic information. I have had a nightmare of a time trying to verify very easily verifiable facts about my status and benefits, to which sheer ID is refusing to acknowledge. Their customer support claims they will "redact" my personal information . I do not trust some random no named person with my confidential information.

At first I was given instructions on what to do, with those instructions I was still denied my request but after I informed the agent of my troubles they were able to manually do it for me. The customer service department is awesome. I was helped by Harlene D. & she was able to get me verified as a veteran in order to receive a discount code for Nike. She was very responsive and helpful with my questions and concerns. She asked for a document or two that she could use to help get me verified. She actually manually accepted them in order to turn them into the verification process immediately after I sent them to her. I’m very happy with my experience and now that im verified I can use a discount code once every 7 days. Thanks again Harlene!
Useless “verification” and even worse support – avoid any company that uses this
I’m a current University of London online student and SheerID has repeatedly failed to verify me for multiple student offers, even though my university is literally in their school list and I have official, valid documentation proving my enrollment. Every time I go through their “verification” flow, it just ends with a vague “we couldn’t verify you, contact support” message.So I contacted support. Not once, but three separate times. I clearly asked what exactly was wrong with my submissions and even offered to provide any extra document or info they needed to help them verify me properly. Their answer? A copy‑paste “nothing I can do, thanks for contacting us.” No explanation, no attempt to troubleshoot, no escalation, nothing. Just a brick wall.What kind of “identity verification” company refuses to say why a legitimate student at a major, accredited university can’t pass their checks, and then tells you there is literally nothing they can do? If support can’t support, who can?The end result is that legitimate students get blocked from offers they qualify for, while SheerID hides behind opaque rules and unhelpful scripts. If you’re a company thinking of using them for student verification, understand that this is the experience your users will have when something goes wrong: no transparency, no accountability, and no real help.I’ve had a smoother time verifying with other services (e.g. GitHub Education) using the same university and documents. The problem is not my status as a student – the problem is SheerID’s broken, inflexible system and dismissive “support.”

I NEEDED MY AGE VERIFIED BY AT&T AND I SENT A COPY OF MY TEXAS DRIVERS LICENSE. AT&T WROTE BACK THAT MY D. L. BIRTHDAY DID NOT MATCH MY AT&T APPLICATION FOR THE 55+ PROGRAM. I HAVE HAD AT&T SERVICE FOR ABOUT 25 YEARS AND THEY COME AT ME WITH THIS PROBLEM. SO I HAD SHEERID TRY TO HELP ME AFTER 3 DIFFERENT TIMES WITH AT&T. SHEERID REPLIED RIGHT AWAY AND THEY HAD MY AGE VERIFIED AND AT&T FINALLY APPROVED IT. COURTEOUS, PROFESSIONAL, QUICK, HELPING ATTITUTE- THEIR SERVICE WITH ME AND SHEERID WAS AWESOME.

As an international student
As an international student, this verification experience was extremely frustrating and poorly handled.
The student discount verification flow only accepts U.S. IDs and does not accommodate international students. I contacted support twice, explained the issue clearly, and both times received the exact same copy-paste response redirecting me elsewhere, with no real assistance or solution.
Even after providing context and asking for alternatives, my support ticket was simply closed. This feels dismissive and shows a lack of support for international students who are legitimately enrolled and eligible.
If international students are not supported, that should be stated clearly. Otherwise, the verification process and support responses need serious improvement.

Support team worked well
Verification process was a little tedious as they require a last name which I don't have in my official documents. But I sent a mail to the support team, and they got back to me the same day and the verification was complete.

Extremely hard to verify student status.
SheerID is used to verify my student status to get access to my student benefits. But I cannot get it to work, I uploaded everything that I have but it won't accept the documents I provided.
When I uploaded my student id they denied it because my full name wasn't on it. When I checked my ID I realised that it only shows my first initial and my last name.
After that I used alternative options and uploaded my school schedule (like they recommended) and proof of tuition fee from the official website used to pay tuition fees. Both were denied because it the documents weren't official enough.
After that I contacted their support team and explained the situation, I get a response where they give me another chance but this step is still exactly the same and impossible for me. It almost feels like I should photoshop my student card to add data so I can get past the verification, but I am not going to do that for obvious reasons.
After I delivered the extra evidence on the reply in my ticket that they obviously didn't read they denied the given evidence and instantly closed the ticket without a normal chat.
This system obviously does not work, I tried giving them evidence 4 times in total but I can't seem to reach their full criteria. How is it not enough evidence when I shared my tuition payment proof, my student card, my school schedule and a screenshot of my student portal with school logo, name and my full name and lets not forget about the step where they verify your school email by having you authenticate through the school microsoft services.
This system does not work, it's very annoying and the customer service is not useful. I give up on trying.

I had an extremely frustrating experience with SheerID while attempting to verify my student status for Figma’s Education plan. Despite being a legitimately enrolled student and providing multiple official documents, my verification was repeatedly rejected without any clear explanation.
After reaching the verification limit, I contacted support and was told my case would be manually reviewed. I submitted everything requested, only to receive a generic response stating that my ticket was permanently closed and that no further details or support could be provided.
The lack of transparency, accountability, and meaningful support makes this system feel arbitrary and unfair. When a service acts as a gatekeeper for essential student tools, this level of opacity and rigidity is unacceptable. I met the eligibility criteria, but the process offered no real path to resolution.
Doesn't work, customer service is not helpful.
I tried using sheer ID for The Economist subscription, and it never works. I emailed customer service, they said there's nothing they can do, and they cannot give me any other details. ID.me or Studentbeans is so much better.
