I used Safety Restore to reset the SRS module and service the seat belt components from my Acura MDX after an airbag deployment. Unfortunately, I would not use this company again.

After receiving and reinstalling the supposedly reset SRS module, the vehicle still reports F4-11 as a permanent DTC. The Acura factory service manual specifically identifies F4-11 as an airbag and/or tensioner deployment-recorded DTC, which is exactly the type of crash data I paid to have reset.

I contacted Safety Restore looking for information about what had been found and what work had actually been performed. I was eventually referred to management and was told that they do not provide before-and-after reports documenting the condition of the components or the work performed. Management explained that their module-reset process accesses the EEPROM directly and writes a factory baseline, but there is no report provided to the customer documenting the original EEPROM condition or verifying the result afterward.

Their proposed solution was to send the module back. However, their policy only allows a very short period for this, and the customer is responsible for shipping the module back and paying return shipping again. In a collision repair project, two weeks is not much time to receive the components, reinstall everything, complete enough of the vehicle to test it, diagnose remaining faults, and discover that the original problem may not have been resolved.
My biggest issue isn't simply that a problem remained. Problems happen. It's the combination of no before/after documentation, no diagnostic report, a very short rework period, and additional shipping costs to have the original work checked again.

I now have an SRS module displaying the same permanent deployment-recorded fault I paid to have removed, and I have no documentation showing what was originally found or what was changed. Based on my experience, I will use a different company for future SRS module and seat belt work.

Several years ago, I wanted to get my seatbelts for my 1981 VW Rabbit Pickup rewebbed- to match the color of the new interior I wanted to install, as a sideline to the full on restore I had planned. Safety Restore did an outstanding job for the money and had a very quick turnaround…(I wish my friend doing the bodywork and paint had been as quick- THAT wait was more than a couple years).

This past month, everything came together and when I went to install the belts and retractors- I discovered the buckles (which were later model I provided) faced the wrong direction in relation to latch sides. I contacted Safety Restore- was told to return the belts and they would take care of it.
To my surprise, they not only completed the job in less than a day— they PAID return shipping and didn’t charge me a cent! Absolutely amazed— Safety Restore did a first rate job well above and beyond expectations—- A++++
