Pre-tour booking experience with Ms. Shorouk Karam.
I have booked our tour with Ms. Shorouk Karam for December. Throughout the process Ms. Karam has been amazingly responsive and helpful. When we needed to personalize aspects of their generic itinerary, she was more than accommodating, including regarding the hotels we wanted, the cruise options and other details. What surprised me was when I would write late my time which was likely after midnight her time and she would write back. That wasn’t required or expected and yet she responded. If the actual tour in December is as good as the pre-trip service, we are in for a treat. Thank you Ms. Shorouk Karam.

Pyramid Schemes and living in De Nile
Alright folks, if you’re looking for a stress-free experience, and a knowledgeable, considerate tour guide then look no further than Egypt Tours Portal with Reham! THE Mohamed Salah of tour guides. And Ahmed the knowledgeable.
We booked a 7 day and 7 night experience with Egypt Tours Portal that included
- A stay at an excellent hotel
- A visit to the the three pyramids, the sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum
- A flight from Cairo to Aswan
- A 4 day 3 night cruise on a from Aswan to Luxor while visiting several points of interest including the high water dam, several massive temples, the tombs of key pharaohs in the Valley of Kings and the high water dam.
- A flight from Luxor to Cairo
- A night at the same hotel
- A tour of old Cairo
Some gripes:
- The cruise accommodations were great, and the service was top-notch- from the concierge to the staff to the waiters… HOWEVER, the wifi was extremely slow, pretty useless… and the food was mediocre to good.
- Transportation to and from airports were arranged by the company, though since I had a different schedule from the rest of my group I arranged my own rides. They did take very good care of my parents though.
- there were sooo many flies on the cruise and at the 5 star hotel… no way for these guys to control this but it was rather unexpected and I recommended you bring some countermeasures. Like bug repellent…
Back to the good stuff…
Reham guided us as we toured the three pyramids and the Great Sphinx in Cairo. She guided as through important artefacts at the Grand Egyptian Museum as well. She was also with us on our last day as we went through the hanging church and the other sites, such as the place Jesus and his family stayed in Old Cairo. We were assigned a different guide, Ahmed, for the cruise tours.
Now let me tell you why Reham might be the greatest tour guide in the multi-verse. When we got to Cairo my dad had a terrible cough and my mom and aunt were extremely affected by the heat. They are also a little older so the fatigue from walking around creeped up on them quite frequently. Reham was so very present, aware and considerate of their limitations. Reham went above and beyond her duties as a tour guide and expertly found a way to take care of their needs while still giving us quality information. She frequently looked for areas where my family could rest in the shade as she explained how the pyramids came to be, and the significance of King Tut’s tomb. She got everyone to enjoy the experience in the July heat while infecting us with her passion for the world that existed millennia before we arrived.
I am very grateful to have such a kind, knowledgeable and engaging guide. Since I left a few days later I had some extra time in Sharm El Sheikh. I booked with a different very unprofessional company and the plans fell through because of their poor communication and rescheduling. When I messaged Reham about my predicament, she gave me some awesome suggestions and I got to enjoy: a lights show, a free concert, live Egyptian music and belly dancing all at SOHO square thanks to her suggestion. Her desire to make sure everyone was following the information during the tours and giving me suggestions while off duty is the only reason I bumped this from a 4 star experience to a 5 star one. Reham Salah is your star player.
As for Ahmed, he was very knowledgeable but the (comfortable) A/C van made it hard to hear some of the details. Ahmed knew a LOTA about the places we visited… unfortunately the people in my family were a little checked out and they found it hard to follow some of the historical details. I would recommend a bluetooth mic that connects to the sound system and I really think the company should allow him to stay on the cruise or something. He had to bus/train and then commute to us which I think may have been taxing as we went through several points during the two city cruise.
Ahmed really knew quite a lot. He had to go through several eras and dynasties during the many temple tours he gave us: His English was very fluent but my family found his cadence a little difficult to understand at times. Like fake American almost? It may not seem like it from the previous text, but for the record, Ahmed was really good. I had a very good experience- it almost felt like it was just the two of us on an Egyptian temple and tomb expedition. My family just felt left out at times and I wanted to give some constructive feedback. Great activities, in-depth knowledge and good food places during the tours. Ahmed was very good and I am a pretty happy customer.
If you don’t want to sweat the small stuff and just go on an Egyptian adventure, definitely let Egypt Tours Portal handle the logistics!

Wonderful Experience
Egypt Tour Portal was incredible from start to finish. Marehan was extremely communicative from our first inquiry to the final day of our tour. We had a detailed itinerary and were provided with options to customize our experience. One day, we mentioned to our guide that we were hoping to try koshary from a specific restaurant while in Cairo. Our guide immediately changed our lunch plans so we could have this experience!
The guides provided by the company are all amazing. Emy, Hoda, and Marian taught us so much about Egyptian history at each site and were always willing to answer our questions. They had great tips for the times when we explored parts of the sites on our own, and they always made sure we were comfortable.
Transportation was always reliable and on-time. All vehicles were very comfortable and the drivers were wonderful!
I cannot recommend ETP enough if you plan on visiting Egypt!
