Poor response despite paying for Dell ProSupport Plus
I have a Dell Latitude 5440 covered under Dell ProSupport Plus, running until July 2026, and I also have Dell support cover on more than one item.
I have been trying to get the same laptop issue resolved for over 4 weeks. I have contacted Dell Support several times and have already spent over 2 hours going through the checks requested, but I still have not received a clear response or any proper next step to resolve the problem.
This is very disappointing when I have paid a lot of money for Dell support cover across more than one item. I am sure if I wanted to extend or renew the cover, Dell would be able to take payment quickly, but getting support when there is an actual issue has been extremely poor.
All I am asking for is for Dell to take ownership of the case, confirm the next step, and arrange the appropriate repair or engineer support under the cover I have paid for.
At present, I feel badly let down by Dell’s support service.
Avoid buying from here!
Some of the worse after sales services I’ve ever encountered. Faulty laptop within six months, an unsuccessful engineer visit at my house, followed by, a collection and repair option - almost a month without a working machine.
On top of that, once I had the machine back, it had scratched and scuffs all over the lid.
And to think that this was after the case was escalated to their executive team.
Colleagues at Dell include their CEO, PA and an Executive colleague all by the names of - Steven Young, Jane Jones and Lindokuhle Malinga.
Not a single bit of goodwill or compensation for the inconvenience and additional damage to my machine!
Avoid Dell and buy from HP or someone more reliable!
Dell Build Design failure
My Dell XPS Laptop was bought to replace my former XPS which was excellent although I had complained to Dell 5 years ago that having the Fingerprint reader on the ON/OFF switch was daft. The new XPS Pro arrived with the Fingerprint reader still in the same place and further cost-saving cutbacks such as invisible Mouse-Trackpad, flat non-raised keys and Bitlocker enabled so that the SSD cannot easily be replaced if/when it fails. I can only assume that it has been made by Chinese industries without proper testing in the UK.
That said, the display is good, battery-life excellent but Dell seem to have abandoned Technology in favour of buying it in.
A warning to new users: The Windows Activation is now dependant upon a Microsoft Account which may mean remembering what password was used 5 years earlier or re-setting everything.
Good computers, abysmal customer support
I've been using Dell's Alienware laptops since I was a nerdy teenager, and they have largely always been good quality.
Dell's customer service, however, is the worst I have ever encountered from any company ever.
A fairly routine fault on a previous laptop took months to fix and multiple visits from engineers who kept being sent without the replacement part, one of whom drove off with my SSD in his pocket (I did get it back).
That laptop was eventually just replaced entirely after several complaints.
I have recently bought a new laptop from Dell, which has been a much better experience, meaning that the only issue was the Dell Migrate software I paid for was neither installed on the computer or even credited to my account. When I raised this with customer support they told me to contact customer support.
I've written this off as a lucky break.
Terrible experience
Terrible checkout experience, poor customer service and no proper resolution.
I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Dell, even before receiving the laptop.
On Friday night, 26 June, I tried to buy a laptop from Dell’s website. PayPal Credit was clearly shown as a payment option, so I selected it. PayPal Credit was then approved and added to my PayPal account. However, when I returned to Dell’s checkout, the PayPal Credit option disappeared and the website showed a technical error.
As a result, I now have PayPal Credit opened through Dell’s checkout process, but I was unable to use it for the Dell order. This has created unnecessary stress and an administrative burden for me, as I may now need to contact PayPal again to cancel or manage a credit product that I only applied for because Dell displayed it as an available payment option.
I contacted PayPal first, and they told me the issue was with Dell’s website. I then contacted Dell customer service multiple times. One representative told me my account appeared as a business account and said she had fixed the issue, but nothing changed.
I was later put through to someone who was presented to me as a supervisor. At first, his attitude was dismissive and he told me there was no issue with Dell’s system. Only after I became frustrated did he start taking the matter more seriously. He later said he had contacted technical support, but the issue was still not resolved. On a later call, another representative told me this person was not actually a supervisor, which made the situation even more confusing and unprofessional.
Despite the payment problem, I was advised to place the order using another payment method because the discount was significant. I also raised the fact that Dell’s website advertised free next day delivery for orders above a certain amount, but I could not see any next day delivery option at checkout. I was told something might be done to speed up the order and to call back on Monday.
On Monday, I called back expecting to speak to the same person. Instead, I was connected to another representative. I repeatedly explained that I wanted to speak to the same person, but she kept asking for details I had already said I did not have. Eventually, I had to explain the whole issue again from the beginning.
After a long call, she told me my product was coming from China and therefore was not eligible for next day delivery. She also later said she had spoken to the same person I had been trying to reach, which was frustrating because earlier I had been made to feel that he could not be identified or reached.
Overall, I spent hours on the phone because of an issue that happened during Dell’s own checkout process. I was given inconsistent information, no proper solution, and I am now left with a PayPal Credit issue that I need to resolve separately.
Dell should urgently review this case, expedite my delivery as a gesture of goodwill, and offer suitable compensation for the time wasted, stress caused, misleading checkout experience, and unnecessary PayPal Credit issue.
I have not even received the laptop yet, but I already regret ordering from Dell.
Pinning the problem on me to avoid replacement
Dell barrel charger was experiencing issues despite being new, laptop was charging intermittently or sometimes not at all. Laptop was within warranty period but online tech support agent (a human) repeatedly stated it to be due to 'wear and tear'. When escalated, the 'internal review team' agreed - the email was signed by the same tech support agent! They hadn't even seen any photos of the laptop or charger, which were in absolutely fine condition.
delayed by 4 months for one laptop
Ordered in May and has been delayed by 4 months. what a joke, you clearly didn't have it in stock but wanted to sell it all the same (money is money right).
Been told my single laptop order will arrive in September/October when it was ordered in first week of may.
Time for all enterprises to start looking at other suppliers is what 2026 is telling me about Dell.
Recommendation: Avoid, go to acer for similar prices or Lenovo for better quality.
Laptop less than 2 years old
Laptop less than 2 years old. Warranty expired. New motherboard required! Almost half the original cost. Will not waste my money.
Completely your wasting time and money
Completely your wasting time and money. Avoid dell try any company different
You will get diabetes and celestrol and high blood pressure
If I could select a -1 star I would
If I could select a -1 star I would. This company is dreadful, cannot get in touch with anyone, eventually send out a technician and he replaces only one of the two parts to be replaced and says yes it will work, guess what, doesn’t work. He had the motherboard with him but didn’t replace it? Finally got back in touch with their technical team and they said the motherboard is out of stock? How can it be out of stock when the technician had it with him when he came but didn’t install it. Still waiting for a reply, this has been going on for three weeks now. Please anyone who is looking to buy a Dell laptop, READ THESE REVIEWS and go and buy a different brand of laptop, it will save you money in the long run.
Customer service is non excistance
Customer service is non excistance. If you have a problem do not expect to receive any communication or response from your emails to them.
Absolutely DO NOT recommend purchasing from Dell.
Ordered next day delivery, was told 2 days later there was a delay, then weeks later was told address was incorrect, it wasn't and then they eventually cancelled my order, all this took 2mths. Impossible to get hold of anyone
I suggest avoiding Dell
I do not reccommend even giving an email address to these people, much less your money.
They are a dishonest company that lies about their actions and repeatedly breaks the law.
Now they can deal with the ICO. I will keep giving feedback about my ongoing unwanted experiences with this company as they continue to harass me via email.
Utterly impossible to talk to a human
Utterly impossible to talk to a human. Possibly the worst automated menu I've ever come across. Disgrace. Need to return a faulty laptop and this is IMPOSSIBLE.
Dell wanted me to rate them
Dell wanted me to rate them but started off with an item and ended with me not being able to post review. So now down to 2 stars. I would posted on there site!
Well this item is great but my computer is very loud and cost over £6000.
My fix is to stuff a rolled up sock in between the hard plastic and the vibrating cheap shit. My overall rate for Dell would be 2.6 So just above average. I have two computers form them and lot other stuff. If they go rid of Dell points and had something that rewards customers it would be 3 stars. Dell points just make new customers spend more. Older ones know not to order everything in one go or you get lumped with lots Dell points. LOL I not buying anything!!! An error occurred while submitting this form. Ordered for next day what a joke
Ordered for next day delivery as stated on order. Notified there was a delay, would be delivered following day, now notified that the address is incorrect and cannot be delivered even though the address is correct!! Tried to contact DELL but almost impossible. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! Having trouble trying to cancel the order now!
I have alway purchased my desktop
I have alway purchased my desktop, laptops and servers from dell, but I will never purchase from Dell again, 9 months I purchased a 27" all in one, today I wanted to purchase the same all in one only to find that the price doubled I can understand £100 pounds maybe £200 pounds but to double the price it totally unacceptable, dell have lost me as a customer.
AFTER 12 MONTH COMPUTOR KEPS SITCH OFF…
AFTER 12 MONTH COMPUTOR KEPS SITCH OFF OR LOCKING. TRIED MANY PAIR TIPS WHICH DO NOT WORK. DELLS OWN REBOOT REPAIR SAID UNABLE TO REPAIR
Beware: Dell ignores EU consumer laws in NL! ❌
Do not buy from Dell if you live in the Netherlands. My monitor suffered from panel delamination within its expected lifespan (a clear manufacturing defect). Because their own 3-year commercial warranty had expired, Dell completely refused to help and even blocked my case to stop further communication.
They completely ignore Dutch consumer law (conformiteitsrecht), which stands above company policy. I have officially reported Dell to the Dutch consumer watchdog ACM. Save your money and buy from a company that actually respects the law and its customers!
Faulty monitor - wanted me to accept a refurb as replacement, no refund
Ordered an Alienware 34 Gaming Monitor - AW3425DWM slightly over two weeks ago. Delivery went well 2 days later on the 10th of May, box was intact, I opened it, all good.
Then I connected it to my setup and immediately realised there are dead pixels on both sides of the monitor. I contacted support to inform them about the issue.
Since then, it's been an utter nightmare. At first, I was asked to send several pictures of my monitor while running the built-in screen test, which is OK. What is not OK is that in 2026 a leading company is unable to accept high-res images of my monitor, which clearly show the issues. I even tried Google Drive, but they claimed they cannot access it (?). So finally, I was sent a link to upload my pictures there, maximum 4 at a time.
Then emails were sent back and forth for several days as they claimed the issue is not visible on my images - in the end I had to literally mark each of them with a red circle so they can see it.
After all these I got an email 6 days ago that they 'will raise a system exchange request' for my case and they will inform me about the next steps, where first I will have a new monitor delivered (exact same monitor), and they I will have to send this faulty one back. I was happy with this solution, so all good I thought.
Then 3 days later (3 days ago) I got an email stating that 'the exchange request has been rejected. In light of this, we would like to check if it would be acceptable for us to proceed with sending a replacement unit instead.'
This prompted me to search online what they might mean by 'replacement unit'. According to several forums online it seemed they now simply want to send me a refurbished unit to replace my brand new faulty one. Obviously, I found this unacceptable, so I asked at first them what they meant by my exchange request was rejected.
They told me the exchange request was reviewed, and instead of processing it as a standard exchange, they will be arranging a replacement unit for me. Again, as this did not really clarify anything, I asked them directly if they mean a brand new or a refurb unit by 'replacement unit'.
Their reply was the following:
'We would like to inform you that an exchange for a brand-new monitor was initially raised; however, it has been declined. As an alternative, we are currently arranging a replacement unit, which will be refurbished.
Please rest assured that the replacement monitor will be:
Fully tested by Dell
Meeting Dell quality standards
Covered under warranty
The same model as your current monitor'
So yes, online forums were correct, they really expect me to accept a refurbished, God knows how old monitor while I paid for a new one.
Then they reassured me that 'We understand your concern, and we want to assure you that the replacement will be in proper working condition and meet all required standards.' - then why were they unable to guarantee this with my brand-new unit, and why would they now expect me to accept and older refurbished one instead?
As I did not accept this solution, they informed me they 'will be raising a refund request for your case'. I told them I don't want a refund, especially as the monitor was about 50 quid cheaper when I bought it two weeks ago than it is today, but I want to have my monitor exchanged to a brand new, fully working one with no dead pixels and I am happy to send this back, OR if this is not possible, process the refund and provide me store credit so I will be able to repurchase the exact same monitor for the discounted price. I also asked them to escalate my case.
They outright refused giving me any store credit and now state that 'At this stage, we are unable to guarantee a refund. If approved, the refund will be exactly the same amount as originally paid, with no additional compensation.'
I believe this is completely unacceptable behaviour from any company, let alone from a huge one like Dell - but now that I've seen their feedback on this page, I am extremely disappointed. To be honest, I did not even think about checking Dell's reviews before purchasing them, as several years ago this company was top notch with everything they did. I guess that is now a thing of the past.
So, unless you are ready for some additional problems in your life, steer clear of this company, because if things go sideways, you are on your own.
