What can I say it would not allow me to…
What can I say it would not allow me to give no stars. The new computer that was bought for the dental practice broke shortly after purchase, the screen flickers and then closes. I have had two replacement screens and the problem is still there. They will not replace the computer and keep telling me they have to replace part by part until the problem is solved. I find this totally unacceptable from such a large company. I have just been told today for a business purchase they cannot offer a system replacement this is inline with their T&Cs associated with business-class warranties and support agreements and that my system is under a basic warranty. They have me on chat bot trying to fix and trouble shoot with all sort of jargon with them telling me to check my electric sockets and main wiring and power sources. We purchased two computers and have no problem with the other one. Customer service sucks when you do finally get through to someone I can't understand them they don't listen and when I request to speak to a manager they don't have one. I'm sick and fed up with DELL. I will never purchase a computer from them as long as I live and I will never recommend them to a single person unless they want to be robbed blind.
Unbearably bad customer support
Flaky laptops
Flaky laptops. Purchased August 2025. Keep switching off. Losing wifi - last time had to reinstall from scratch. Some web pages load others don't - same on three browsers. The company's gone down the pan.
It is a nightmare
It is a nightmare : we bought a battery for my son's laptop and it was May 16, 2026 and on check out it showed the delivery is 28th of May. On the 22nd of May we got an email that the parcel is booked with UPS and we were very happy for that. Today is the 1st of June and the battery is not delivered, there is no tracking, UPS denies having the parcel, no customer care phone number to call, no support...totally we are cut off. Imagine Dell can not deliver a battery, SHAME ON THEM! I chatted with them claiming that I have business then I talked to someone in India and gave me a secret phone number to call : no one should know about this number specially customers who paid them!!!!!
The lady I spoke with said she will update me in 24-48 hrs and now 72 hrs and nothing. It is a shameful company. If you are in urgent need, have nerves to burn with anger, money to waste, and above all a desire to be neglected, then you are in the right place to do business : it is Dell.
No more Dell Computers
Inspiron 14 5440 - stopped charging - just over 1 year old
Inspiron 14 5440 - After 12 months it no longer charges reliably. Sure if you fiddle long enough it will charge for a few mins until it stops again. New cable is no help so its the laptop not the cable. Simply a quality issue
excessive security
security mad, lost all my data because of dell
Hi-spec laptop overheats.
I've owned Dell computers for over a decade, but my last purchase, a Dell XPS 17 9730, is abysmal. It was very expensive, £3,500, and the problem is they cram these high-spec components into a chassis that can't handle them, so the computer just overheats. Their support is terrible. They've clearly cut corners wherever they can in things like thermal pasting and aftercare, so my next laptop won't be a Dell.
Absolutely dreadful customer service
Absolutely dreadful customer service. I bought a laptop directly from Dell and honestly wouldn’t do it again.
The laptop itself performs really poorly and doesn’t feel fit for purpose, even for basic day-to-day work use. Trying to get support has been unbelievably frustrating. It took months to get a proper response and when they finally replied it just felt like a generic AI-generated template rather than anyone actually trying to help.
There’s seemingly no way to speak to a real person, escalate a complaint properly or find any meaningful resolution. The whole experience has felt incredibly impersonal and frustrating from start to finish.
Satisfied with Dell's hardware and support
This is the 2nd Dell Tower Plus (EBT2250) I have purchased (see review Apr 4, 2026) recently. Necessary as the old desktops for my wife and myself would no longer support Windows 11. So far very pleased with both desktops. Used to be an IT consultant and lecturer before I retired so know a thing or two about software & hardware. However, can understand users' frustrations with computers these days as they are not the most intuitive items to use. Too many unnecessary bells and whistles for the majority. But, apart from Windows 11 annoying popups which need disabling I am happy both with the hardware and Dell's support.
Note: one area that I had problems with was with ordering and installing Microsoft Office Home 2024 (lifetime licence) and Adobe Photoshop Elements 2026 (3-year licence). These were needed on both desktops. Dell's system didn't seem to cope with 2 versions of each item of software ordered from the same Dell account. Needed support from Dell & Microsoft to install M/S Office Home on the 2nd pc. Needed Dell Support to install Elements on the 2nd desktop. Took a long time to sort this out but was eventually achieved. Must say support was excellent. I only hope if, or when, I need to re-install either product I can do this easily.
Abysmal company, AVOID
Laptop did not work properly from the start. Slow performance, grainy camera. Eventually it became so bad I returned it. Getting support is near impossible. They now want to carry out major repairs and reserve the right to use refurbished parts. I will reject the item
Avoid Dell like the plague
Avoid Dell.
A brand-new £1,400+ laptop failed within 10 days of purchase. For a premium device, this level of early failure is unacceptable. The suggested “solution” of major internal hardware replacement rather than replacing the unit was not reasonable for a brand-new product.
What followed was an extremely poor support experience: delays, lack of ownership, and repeated failure to properly address the issues raised. Accessibility needs were raised but not meaningfully dealt with, raising concerns around obligations under the Equality Act 2010 regarding accessible customer support.
Despite clear written complaints, Dell repeatedly ignored the substance of the issues and offered only voucher compensation, which does not reflect the seriousness of the quality or service failures.
A refund was only issued after intervention from my credit card provider, around two months later.
Dell’s complaint handling, escalation process, and customer support are fundamentally inadequate. Dell could significantly improve by ensuring early-life product failures are resolved through immediate replacement, strengthening complaint escalation with proper ownership, and providing accessible, meaningful support that fully addresses customer concerns rather than relying on automated systems and voucher-based compensation. I will never purchase from Dell again and would strongly advise others to think very carefully before doing so. Dreadful experience that currently continues.
Paid for Dell Migrate which did not work and Dell will not refund
I had a Dell computer that was beginning to fail after 7 years so I went online to purchase a new Dell as I had been happy with my old Dell. I needed to have the facility to transfer my data from old computer to new computer as soon as I received the new computer as everything was time sensitive. Dell were pushing very hard the Migrate software which claimed to be able to transfer data as I required so I paid for the service. I started up the new computer and logged into my Microsoft account and everything was going to plan until I tried the Migrate system. I did not work so I contacted Dell support online and spent over 5 hours with Dell support trying to resolve the issue - they kept saying the same thing i.e. "restart the computer" which I did on numerous occasions - Dell support were completely useless - they then said wait 24 hours and try it again - I explained that my data had to be transferred due to time sensitive issues and they said "try again in 24 hours" - I informed them that I was going to have use external USB drives, memory sticks etc. to transfer data and I would not be trying again in 24 hours as there was no point. I requested a refund for the Migrate service which I paid for and they totally refused claiming that all Dell applications are non refundable. I then asked for contact details for senior management as I wanted to make a formal complaint and they stated they were unable to give me contact details to make a formal complaint. They take your money and when their service does not work they refuse to either give a refund or even give contact details to make a formal complaint. No wonder Dell are getting so many bad reviews - never again.
DELL tower ECT1250
DELL tower ECT1250, the worst machine I have ever had, in 1982 I had a IBM computor, that was more reliable than DELL or its pc, I have had DELL machines for as long as I can remember, this one crashes nearly everyday, and what do they do, get me to take to my IT suport for an upgrade three times, update software I dont know how many times then after 4 months they want to send an engineer out who could fine the house, a big white detached house with two driveways, how on earth is the engineer goint to fix something that is the size of a large shoe box !! Rubbish service, rubbish equipment. Waited all day for the engineer, then got a phone call at 1417 telling me they couldn't find the house. They managed to call me to tell me they wouldn't be coming, but not that they needed directions.
Terrible customer service which takes…
Terrible customer service which takes incredibly long. I have been refused an order cancellation, even though my delivery date has been delayed and the order hasn't even shipped. DO NOT use the Dell website!
Possibly the worst service with any…
Possibly the worst service with any company ever, they are truly awful, from customer service to the bespoke side we spent 1000s to have a package bespoke to us and none of it worked correctly with the sales guy from what is a multi national company buying cables from amazon in a vain attempt to get it to work, dread to think what they are like selling to the public as this was a business transaction
Another Dell product another terrible customer service experience
Laptop received Sep 2025. System kept freezing regularly; this was due to motherboard failure in less than 1 month of ownership.
Motherboard replaced with refurbished product without making this clear to me. Service agent doesn't use gloves or anything when doing repair. Motherboard number 2 also has faults.
Nov 2025: Engineer is sent to replace motherboard 2 but cannot open the laptop because the screws were damaged last time by the same engineer when he came to do the first repair. Specifically requested engineer should use gloves beforehand which Dell agreed to but again, this was not done. I ask for a refund but instead Dell offers me a brand new replacement laptop. I am hesitant after my experience so I ask what if that one also develops a fault and am told that if that happens this time, I can just get a refund - I have this in writing. I opt for advanced exchange which is where you get the replacement before having returned the old system as I cannot be without a computer. Approval of the replacement system drags on into late Dec 2025.
Finally new system arrives in Jan 2026 and completely dies after just 3 days of receipt due to guess what: another motherboard failure! So we are 4 months and 3 motherboard failures thanks to dell's "quality" products that seem to only match its "quality" customer service. I understandably then want to return both systems as already agreed by dell for a refund. Pick up of 1 of the laptops is messed up by DHL who never show up. I am asked by Dell to drop it off at a store instead, I do this at my own inconvenience. The refund never comes through, it turns out the item was never picked up by DHL. I then have to waste time and money making another trip to the drop off point to pick up this parcel again so it can be collected from my home with a new tracking number.
Feb 2026 I am stuck in some infinite loop with the exchange team in Dell telling me to contact tech services, tech services telling me to deal with the exchange team and just having to waste my time constantly phoning and explaining the story from the start when this has already been discussed many times and agreed.
I asked several times to escalate this or copy a manager and each time this request is ignored. I tried myself to email the board of directors and CEO of Dell and no response.
In the end I got my money back but what an ordeal and this is not the first time I had this issue with Dell, having experienced something very similar about 9-10 years ago. I will never order a Dell machine again. They are poor quality, 3 motherboard failures even on different models is ridiculous. They do not vent their laptops correctly which is what is contributing to this, the motherboards overheat. Not only this but whilst the initial customer service is alright, they are a nightmare to deal with when you get to the point where you need to escalate something, they have no process for this so you are just stuck. In the end since most computer companies have poor customer service, I decided to go with a solid retailer who could act as a middleman and narrowed it down to John Lewis or Costco. I now have a fantastic Asus laptop from Costco that has been working perfectly with zero issues.
Challenging
Buying from Dell appears to be supper supported and easy, dealing with any subsequent problems is not so. There appears to be a real reluctance and its rather challenging to even speak to anyone/make contact. Although I have no experience with other providers I can't imagine that make this any harder.
Dell: Zero Customer cupport!
I purchased a Dell 27 Plus S2725QC 4k Monitor from Amazon UK on the 3rd January 2026.
I registered my product with Dell and noticed that the warranty and support period expires on the 24th September 2028.
The monitor comes with a 3 year support and warranty, if taken from the date of order from Amazon, the expiry date should be the 3rd January 2029.
I have tried many ways to contact Dell, its impossible, I have made many phone calls where I have been sent around in circles, tried the Whats App Group, sent emails to various departments and even made service requests etc.
They all end the same way and tell me to go online, and so the circle begins again. It seems that the only way to contact Dell is if you have a fault with your product. However, they are very specific about what constitutes a fault, obviously a warranty period enquiry is not a fault. Basic customer service is non existent!
Online laptop purchase
I recently made an online purchase with Dell to the approximate tune of £2700. When I checkout I paid the bill using a debit card and received notification that the payment was accepted by my bank. I also received an email from Dell confirming the order. 1 minute later I received a second email from Dell saying they couldn't process the payment and the order was on hold. The following morning I spent about an hour on the phone to my bank and Dell (you all know how easy it is to speak with a human being these days!). The upshot was that for some reason, known only to Dell, was they split the payment to £2660 and £40. It was the second smaller payment they tried to make after the transaction that caused the issue (and was the only payment 'held' by the bank). Dell couldnt then accept me paying the £40 over the phone and didn't think cancelling and starting over would work either. In the end, I demanded they cancel the order. I then sent a letter of complaint to Dell who basically responded saying it wasnt their fault - no apology, no acceptance. I'll never buy Dell again - nor will my company.
Don't buy Dell!
My wireless Dell devices stopped communicating, the Dell Peripherals Manager doesn't give a specific error code, I can't find the devices on Dell's website to try to find any help, and when I call their 24x7 customer support, and plough through awkward conversation with the chatbot to try to reach the right engineer, I'm told that I reached them out of hours. Have there been more hours added to the day or more days added to the week and I missed the memo?
