Recent updates have turned Deepl from an excellent translation tool into a Deep(l) horror with horrendous translations (English to/from Russian). Switching languages is wrong as it goes into a "let me guess what this stupid user is trying to do", instead of reversing source and destination (I'm talking about preselected languages). But it's not a Russian issue, because the same happens with German, Italian and French.
I guess Google must be paying Deepl to destroy a competitor. Puaghhhhh!!!

I forgot to cancel the free trial, and they charged me €30 with no chance of a refund—even though I contacted them the very minute the charge went through!!!! What a crappy company!!!

I use this app ta work to translate from Spanish and Portuguese into English, and l like it much more then Google Translation and similar tools. For me, DeepL translates on a level close to neural AI tools. It helps me fill in the gaps when my own language level is not enough and I still need to understand the meaning clearly.

I tried the premium version for two months, and overall it felt the same, just with higher limits. One thing I’d really like to see in the free version is a full history of all my translations. If l translate single words, it would also be very useful to save to them into my own vocabulary list for learning.

I’ve had an ongoing support case for over 2 months with no proper resolution.

At some point, users in my account were suddenly made visible again after previously being hidden. Because of this, I was unable to use DeepL properly, yet I was still being charged.

Support is now blaming me, claiming I added these users myself, which is simply not true. Instead of investigating the issue, they are dismissing my case and refusing to take responsibility.

On top of that, I have not received any refund for the period during which the service was not usable.

Overall, very disappointing experience. I would recommend using alternative AI tools instead.

My subscription auto-renewed without my awareness, and I requested cancellation immediately upon seeing the charge.

Despite this being a same-day request with minimal usage, DeepL refused to issue a refund and cited their terms and conditions.

I understand policies, but most reputable SaaS providers apply reasonable flexibility in situations like this. Refusing any exception shows a lack of customer focus.

I would have considered using DeepL again in the future, but after this experience, I will not be returning or recommending the service.

Used to translate one document (which was originally pdf and not scanned) from Hindi to English; it came out as totally garbled. App does not provide any value

DeepL charged me for an automatic renewal without sending a renewal notice. When I requested a refund, they refused to do so. After paying for the services fairly for two years this was their choise. I no longer needed the service because I have access to a new one with work, but simply missed the renewal charge date - again without being informed of the impending charge.
The translation services are not worth the cost, and their customer service policy is terrible. There are many other sites today that have less expensive and more relevant translation capacities. I had to speak to my bank about a forced charge back. I I do not recommend this purchase.

Seit neustem fügt DeepL willkürlich Absätze in die Übersetzung ein, die damit überhaupt nichts zu tun haben. Keine Ahnung wo diese Textteile überhaupt herkommen.

They are subscribing you without your knowledge and doesn't do refund when you request. So you are being end up paying $50+ monthly. This is scam business.

The app neither translates properly nor can it handle large files. Even with a subscription, it has far too many limitations. It’s the stupidest money I’ve ever spent in my life.

Run for away.. horrible company do with. they just want to steal your money and keep charging your card.

I was using the DeepL translator and decided to pay for a subscription. The interface showed a price of around €8 per month. I clicked the payment button — turns out that was the monthly price when paying for a full year, totaling €89. Yes, it was indicated at checkout that it was an annual plan — that's on me. But the interface is designed to show you the attractive monthly price first, and then slip in the annual billing at the payment stage.
I contacted support within 5 minutes and asked for a refund. Their answer: "A refund is not possible, you agreed to the terms and conditions." Five minutes — I hadn't even done anything yet.
A textbook dark pattern. Do not recommend.

Meine Erfahrung mit DeepL war leider sehr enttäuschend. Nach mehreren Jahren wollte ich ein auf der Website angezeigtes Probeabo abschließen, um zu testen, ob der Service zu meinen Anforderungen passt. Während des Bestellprozesses wurde klar kommuniziert, dass die Zahlung erst nach 30 Tagen erfolgen würde.

Da sich schnell herausgestellt hat, dass der Service für meinen Zweck nicht geeignet ist, habe ich das Abo noch am selben Tag gekündigt. Trotzdem wurde der vollständige Betrag bereits in der Zwischenzeit von meinem Konto abgebucht.

Der Kundenservice zeigte sich in dieser Situation wenig entgegenkommend. Trotz mehrfacher Hinweise auf einen möglichen Inhaltsirrtum (§ 119 Abs. 1 Alt. 1 BGB), da ich offenbar gar nicht berechtigt war, ein Probeabo abzuschließen, sowie auf die widersprüchliche Darstellung im Kaufprozess (kostenloses Testen vs. sofortige Abbuchung), wurde konsequent darauf bestanden, dass alles rechtens sei und der Betrag einbehalten wird.

Besonders kritisch sehe ich, dass weder transparent über die tatsächlichen Zahlungsbedingungen aufgeklärt wurde noch aktiv auf mein Widerrufsrecht hingewiesen wurde. Eine kundenorientierte Lösung wurde zu keinem Zeitpunkt angeboten.

Insgesamt hat es rund 20 E-Mails gebraucht, um den Sachverhalt überhaupt zu klären. Der Eindruck entsteht, dass hier bewusst auf Zeit gespielt wird, möglicherweise auch in Bezug auf Fristen wie das Widerrufsrecht.

Für mich hinterlässt das den Eindruck, dass wirtschaftliche Interessen deutlich über der Kundenzufriedenheit stehen.

Turned to .... after the homepage was changed to some kind of AI thing. Even when you set the language yourself, it changes it back to what it believes to be.

Son unos estafadores. Debido a un problema técnico de su parte, estuve sin servicio durante una semana y se negaron a extender mi suscripción o a compensarme de alguna manera.

The website became horrible. Everything jumps and moves all the time. Text rewriting is no better. Instead of fixing grammar, it completely changes the meaning of what's in the text, enforced by political correctness.
