Do not ever rent a car here; it is a scam! They will charge you with various arbitrary hidden fees so that you will end up paying twice or even three times the sum that was originally indicated. If you complain, they will put you under pressure by threatening you with not getting the car and still losing all the money you paid in advance. Bad people!

This "discount car rental company" is running a bait and switch scam with their fuel prices. A €24 car rental ends up costing €73 because they tack on €48 fuel charge for a half tank of gas (18 litres) in a Toyota Aygo. The response from staff when asked about this fee was "if you don't like it hire a car somewhere else", knowing full well that a last minute rental will cost you more. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Confermo anche io che purtroppo offrono un servizio pessimo e i prezzi non rispecchiano la realtà.
Siamo stati a malta dal 1 al 5 con 2 bambini.
In sede ci hanno di fatto costretto a prenotare di nuovo l'auto triplicando i costi e consegnandoci un'autovettura ridotta malissimo, tergicristalli finiti, sospensioni finite che cigolavano, senza telecomando e con chiusura mal funzionante.
Sconsiglio vivamente questo operatore

Do not use.

We were supposed to pay 30 euro on arrival and we ended up paying in addition to the 30:
25 collection fee
25 airport site fee
9 tax
48.50 for half a tank of fuel (we had to pay this even though it probs cost them 20 eur).

They didn’t accept our full cover insurance as we got it through the booking company so had to pay another 60 eur to reduce excess from 1600 to 300.

The car was battered as well. Staff were rude.

Please don’t be fooled by the cheap prices and use someone else. Read t and c carefully.

They charge hidden fees in their terms and conditions, and they also charge fees that you weren't told about when you made your reservation. It's a complete thief and the staff is unfriendly and not even at the counter. This is a garbage company and a scammer. Never use it

Good car but terrible company policies and uncooperative office staff with any kind of hidden charges and talking to the Manager Mr. James Brock is just extra time and money lost.

Office staff at the airport was so stubborn, impatient, not respectful of the queue and was hot there!

They force you to pay half tank at pick up with an outrageous overcharge: more than the double of current gasoline costs, no way to escape that... but of course you ca return empty if not, you also lose extra money!

On arrival I informed I would return the car 10 hours earlier and they charged me out of business hours fee for 29.5€ but there was a key drop off box and nobody was there, plus they could rent the cars to others and make profit out of that!

Avoid them at all costs, eventually book through a third party like Discover Cars, they will do their best to keep you as a customer!

Pessima esperienza all' aeroporto di Malta con questo autonoleggio, se così si può chiamare. Confermo quanto letto in alcune recensioni precedenti. Una volta arrivato al desk per ritirare l' auto l' operatore affermava di non trovare la prenotazione che avevo effettuato il mese prima con Carjet. Dopo averla mostrata, fa una foto e comunica con chat WhatsApp con altri soggetti e successivamente afferma che Carjet non ha comunicato a loro la riservazione che io avevo
in mano!! Successivamente mi consiglia di rivolgermi al banco affianco per trovare un' altra soluzione in quanto loro non avevano auto per me!!! Siamo stati lasciati senza auto in un paese straniero insieme a dei bambini piccoli. Servizio disastroso al limite della truffa. Sconsiglio vivamente questo autonoleggio e il broker Carjet!

We just returned our rental car and the service was Excellent from start to finish .We arrived in the early hours of the morning due to our flight being delayed from London and we panicked as we thought they would be closed but the lady in the office still waited for us,We would definitely recommend this company and will sure use again as we have moved to Malta for 1 year

Great car but bad company policies and uncooperative office staff with hidden charges.

Insisted I pay for half a tank of fuel at their own rates. Was overcharged double for half tank of fuel due to their excessive charges and rigid policies that must take fuel from them.

I was charged out of office pick up 25 euros on a Sunday when office staff was there. Office staff was so stubborn he wouldn’t even let me use a different debit card for the payment and insisted use the same credit card as holding deposit. Annoying !

I was also charged 25 euros early morning drop off fee but there was a key drop off box and nobody was there!

On top they added airport surcharge fee and taxes which were not made clear at the time of booking.

All cost me more than 100 pounds extra than the total car hire fee initially quoted.

Good car but deceptive and stubborn company.

After arriving at night at KWL car rental they scammed us with a lot of additional costs. After checking the car found damage on the rearlights which was not mentioned. The clutch was completely worn out. So I went back to the office, but everybody was gone. So next day I went back to the office and told them the car was dangerous to drive. (On a hill the car slided back when you started to drive.) Very agressive staff told me the car was oke. Not willing to help. And if I wanted to change the car it would cost me another €180. And I paid the car already double due to there hidden costs. Never hire a car from KWL carrental! It will ruin the start of your holiday!

KWL carrental. Lot of hidden costs. First they charge your creditcard with an amount of hidden costs; You have to pay for a half of tank of Fuel. They charge 48€ for that, at the fuel station it's less than 20€. You pay 50€ when you pick up and return the car outside office hours, even if there is nobody around and you drop the keys in there mailbox. They add local fee, whatever that means. And in the end tax. So after charging all these hidden costs together with amount what was known on forehand, your creditcard is not able to accept the deposit of €1800!! anymore. And that is their next scam. They can reduce the deposit to €250 but it cost you another 169€ for the rental period. So in the end I paid the car more than double. Looks like they do this all on purpose. Beside that they are very rude, from the beginning you are feeling they try to scam you all the time. They clear the deposit not earlier than 21 days after returning the car. Your card will be blocked for this amount unnessecary for 3 weeks. Avoid them at all costs!!

Booked a car with these people. After being given a quote of 31 Euros, and paid. I go to the airport to pick up the car. Immediately I am told that I would have to pay an additional 25 euro airport fee - WHICH IS NOT made anywhere clear on the booking form and ‘final’ payment on the website. On top of that you are charged another 70 euros for a half tank of petrol for a small car. Once again this is not made clear ANYWHERE in the t&cs. I was surprised about this and the agent said it was made clear on the t&cs. I challenged him and when I made another booking on the phone to show the original price was 31 euros and to show me the t&cs he then himself couldn’t find them. After a while he phoned someone and they told him how to find them as they were hidden in the booking website how to find it. I still can’t find three myself.

The car itself was smelly, some sort of unidentifiable stale smell and grotty and had stains on the car seats.

On checking out the car we were told to hurry up or they would give it to someone else.

Also, didn’t think to question it at the time but they were pumping up one of the wheels as I was going over the car. It was only after we reached our destination that the flat tyre warming came on, and looking at the contract WE would have been liable for a flat tyre call-out if we got stranded.

Unfortunately this is one of these unscrupulous car hire places that seem to be springing where you quoted a low headline rate and then you get stung on other things - ruining your holiday experience where you are trying to get from stress.

If you hire from these people (btw this seems to be part of a group of car hire places in a group with various names) you will just end up having a stressful time.

Bottom line the other places I have hired from in the past were probably about the same cost as these sharks but you would be dealing with trustworthy people and have better cars than these cowboys.

I did say that what I thought they were doing was dishonest, and they said if I didn’t like it I was welcome to post on Trustpilot. I don’t normally do so but in this case if I can save at least one person the same experience we had it is worth it! Liars should not be rewarded.

If you do decide to book withh by these people read the t&cs, ask yourself if you are happy with them THEN compare with another company and decide who you want to book with.

JUST DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY OR HIRE FROM THEM FOR YOUR PEACE OF MIND AND ENJOYMENT OF YOUR BREAK - YOU WILL END UP PAYING AS MUCH AS ELSEWHERE, GET AN AWFUL CAR, AND HAVE A MISERABLE EXPERIENCE!

I booked a car for the month of October 2023 through Rental cars Malta which turned out to be an agent for K.W.L. Car rentals, the car that I requested was a Toyota Aygo and the price that was quoted was 382 Euros including extra charges of 41 Euros due to the fact that I was dropping off the car early in the morning before the rental company opened and a charge because of my age which is 79. What I got was a Hyundai i10 that I guessed was about 5 years old with over 100,000 Kms on the odometer, the windshield wipers were like having the wipers made of wood rather than rubber, the suspension was shot and bottomed out when travelling over the smallest bump and the headlights had glazed over due to the Sun and I would probably have been better with a couple of candles plus the only way to have the headlights on high beam was to hold the switch in the on position and there wasn't a panel on the car including the door posts and mirrors that did not show some damage. Finally the price quoted included CDW. When I arrived at K.W.L. to pick up the car they started with the original quote of 382 Euros and added the following charges 25 Euros Location fee, 186 Euros (6 Euros a day) because of may age 48.50 Euros for a half tank of petrol (gas) and I was told to bring the car back empty, how is that possible? they also added 38.50 Euros for tax (18%) which was already included in the original quote. Finally when it came to the CDW they wanted to charge me another 284 Euros which I declined as my credit card provides coverage so they applied a 1,700 Euro charge in case I damaged the car and which was removed after I returned the car undamaged at least by myself so they finished up charging me 680 Euros compared to the 382 Euros that I was quoted. Why did I not switch to another rental company, I had been travelling for 26 hours and I was jet lagged and did not know whether I would be jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

First we booked a car here because they communicate that they can block deposit on debit card as well...No, they don´t! We booked Toyota Yaris Hybrid for 72,5€. In total was 242€!!! When you come to the office there is extra charge for insurance what was not mentioned in advance, then fee for office at the airport and in the end for fuel in advance! Despite all of that car was a piece of crap with lot of damages everywhere...One of the worst experiences ever with a rental car.

we have rented a car in Malta on July 7th 2023, got on our arrival at the airport a damaged car, in a very poor condition, then when we brought it back and asked for our 250 euros deposit they said they will credit us but we are still waiting, they are not honest, please avoid them

Avevo prenotato tramite Carjet un auto con cambio automatico con Citygo/klw una settimana prima circa al costo totale per 3 giorni di poco più di 50 euro con anche l'assicurazione aggiuntiva. Quando siamo arrivati non trovavano la prenotazione e poi ci hanno detto che non risultava xche loro non hanno disponibili auto con cambio automatico. Naturalmente quando gli ho detto che io avevo la conferma hanno scaricato la colpa su Carjet xche loro li avevano avvisati ( cosa non vera). Ci hanno proposto poi una macchina con cambio manuale x assurdo ad un costo maggiore ( dovrebbero caso mai fare un upgrade gratuito) di 10 euro al giorno per una 500!!!! Inoltre ci hanno chiesto il pagamento di altri soldi per tasse, carburante ( 50 euro per mezzo pieno di una 500 ibrida quando lì la benzina costa 1.3 circa) patente aggiuntiva e ci hanno bloccato 1400 euro sulla carta di credito che però essendo intestata a mio marito non andava bene ma aggiungendo altri soldi andava bene... Insomma ogni cosa erano soldi da pagare. Alla fine per 3 gg l'auto è costata 160 euro. Ladri

No se os ocurra alquilar aquí, como he leído en otros comentarios al principio pagas una cantidad y luego te cobran diferentes tasas(gasolina por adelantado que jamás consumirlas, te cobran el parking teniendo el coche fuera del aeropuerto,tasa por el seguros, tasa de 300€ por franquicia del seguro.....)
No se os ocurra.
Y si lees detenidamente el contrato no se hacen cargo de nada, por cierto alquile un Toyota AIGO y me dieron un Renault Megane que daba asco (roto,oxidado, retrovisores rotos,etc etc)

truffatori professionisti, se hai un danno alla macchina non ti rimborseranno mai anche se nel loro contratto che c'è scritto che in caso di danno ci pensa l'assicurazione

Tried to rent a car in Malta for a week. Initial price for a small car like Peugeot 208 was around 40€, but when I came to the desk it increased till ~150€ as additional fees were added like airport fee, fuel fee and something else. Also they requested to lock a deposit of 1800€. When I said that I don’t have such money, the man at the desk proposed to buy an additional insurance that costs 50€ a day… and then the deposit would be reduced till 400€… So I decided to decline the rent, but still they charged me on the next day the 40€, initial quote, even I didn’t rent the car… in their therm they have a chapter that they will not charge you if the booking is cancelled two days before.. but they don’t show anywhere during the initial quote what will be the deposit…

It’s the worst rent car company that I’ve ever used. Strongly don’t recommend.

La pire des agences de location que j’ai eu l’occasion de rencontrer à l’étranger. Ce sont des voleurs à tous les niveaux, taxes de partout, double facturation des frais de réservation, paiement de carburant que nous ne consommons pas et le chapeau, triple frais administratif quand nous avons eu le malheur d’avoir une amende de stationnement dont nous n’avions pas connaissance.

Des escrocs, à éviter de tout urgence.
