Blue car rentals are a bunch of thieves.Stay away from that company. Had an accident. Was insured. They charged me the full amount of the damage and told me that they could not recover the money from the third party. They closed the case and I had to foot the full bill for the amount. Absolutely ridiculous. Run if u hear the name Bluu Rentals.

We rented a car for 3 weeks in the month of February 2023 in Cape Town, South Africa. On February 10, we stopped at a red light when we were hit from behind by another car. So we are not at fault.
We were charged a total amount of more than 1200.00 €. Bluu would do the necessary to repay this through the insurance of the other party. After more than 6 months and 10 emails to Bluu rental company, we have still not been reimbursed.
I therefore strongly advise against renting a car from this company. This is pure theft.

We rented a car (which wasn't in perfect conditions) from PE airport and gave it back a week later in Cape Town airport. I unfortunately had a small incident in a parking lot and scratched one door. A few days after we gave back the car, one person from Bluu car rental kept on trying to debit a huge amount from our bank account. She kept on changing this amount (R40000 / R35000 - yes, for a scratch!) and harassing us on phone (calling sometimes 8 times per hour) for weeks on end. Until she finally was able to debit the equivalent of 1500€. Now, we're still trying to solve this matter, but believe me, this rental company is a bunch of crooks (or at least one of them is a crook for sure).

I used Bluu car rental at OR Tambo and had a great experience. Staff was friendly. Filling in forms were easy as for dropping off the car. Car was in great shape. There were no hidden costs. The explain all the cost before you drive out with your rental. Fantastic experience and will definitely use them again.

I used Blu car rental for my time out in South Africa and at the time of making my booking I chose the "full insurance package" and to include a sat nav, which was included as a free optional extra when I booked.

I was told that I would have to pay R3,075, plus any toll road charges, at the time of booking, but everything else was included. However, since returning to the UK, I have been charged R4,500, which is nearly 50% more than I should have paid.

I have complained to they directly and explained the situation, to which I have not received any satisfactory resolution. They have decided to add on charges for Tyre damage waiver, hail damage waiver, minor damage waiver, glass waiver, CDW and TLW fees without my consent all of which I never agreed to or should have been included in my rental price.

I mean seriously, hail damage waiver... in the middle of summer?!?!

On top of that they have also charged me for the Sat Nav rental even though it was included for free as an optional extra at the time of making my booking. I would also recommend not bothering with their sat nav as I was unable to use it anyway due to the thing being prehistoric and unable to find the location I needed to go to.

Overall these guys are scam artists and will just help themselves to your money and there is nothing you can do about it.

I used first car rentals for the second half of my trip in South Africa who were much better and I was charged the correct amount, with no fuss. Don't ever use BLU car rentals. You will regret it!!

Blu Rental car in Cape Town,South Africa-August 2022. Such a pity -Wonderful staff and great choices of cars. The reviews were negative -describing many overcharges and many “administrative” fees being added on. I decided to take the chance anyway thinking all those bad reviews were disgruntled renters. NOT true!!!!I was charged for a “ding” on the trunk, scratches to hubcaps and a scrape to left side of car-non of those belong to my 5 days of car rental.I picked it up on a rainy night but even so -would not have seen those things . I rent cars frequently -never had an issue!!!
Infact a day later I picked up another rental this time from Budget -No Issues ,NO overcharges!!
The worst is that they do not respond to emails inquiring why I am being over charged .Nor do they answer their phone . BEWARE…those reviews are true!! :(
