I have been researching my family on and off for several decades. at first it was slow and painful to learn anything new, Ancestry now has any information easily accessible. It makes an afternoon of research such a pleasure and the pro check makes it easy to be sure you have found the correct person.

Do not deal with this company they are thieves. I cancelled my service only to check my bank statement to find out they continue to take money out of my account to after i cancelled and then when i ring to complain they do nothing but argue and refuse a refund of money they are not entitled to. When i complaint she called me rascist as she sounded philipino yet i hadnt said anything about her personally i would iven-10 stars if i could.

Ancestry has helped me develop an extensive family tree
Ancestry has helped me develop a comprehensive Family Tree, with its access to many Church, Electoral & Census records, as well as other family's records. Even though these people have passed away, I still get a great sense of satisfaction solving family puzzles. I am also enjoying finding out more about my extended family, esp through DNA links. Be wary of copying info straight from other Family Trees; always go to the source to check first! I am fortunate (if that's the word) that my history is very Anglo-Saxon, as there are so many records from Great Britain that are relevant for me.

Ancestry make it difficult for people…
Ancestry make it difficult for people to cancel their membership. I bought 2 DNA kits. One for myself and one for a friend. I tried to cancel both memberships today because if you don't cancel at least 2 days before the membership expires, they start charging exorbitant monthly fees. They made it impossible for me to cancel the second membership even though I'd paid for both from my bank account. They have insisted my friend close the account himself. I find this so unfair because if he didn't cancel, they would be charging MY account. Ancestry.com are greedy and dishonest and the most of the historical forms they provide are illegible. I'm still getting this sorted out and will provide the outcome once I've finished.
UPDATE
Ancestry got back to me. After their staff messed me and my friend around for hours yesterday. They were actually playing stupid little games with me. Keeping me waiting for long periods of time (30 minutes when typical wait time was around 8 minutes) I'd make a call from a different number and be answered within 8 minutes. They also messed my friend around when he called to sort it out. More than once, the person would stay silent on the phone, when you could see they were still on the line. I tried 3 times to do a 3 way call with them and my friend, followed all the right steps and they would pull the silent trick. Ancestry needs to either, check on their "support" team, or make sure they know what the process is.
I believe they actually do know and deliberately mess people around. My opinion of this company remains the same. They don't deserve the one star I had to give them in order to make this complaint.

After receiving the information from Ancestry today, I phoned the number that was provided. Within 5 minutes I was told, the membership has been cancelled and there will be no more charges. Thank you to the young man I spoke to. He was polite and efficient.

We appreciate the opportunity to advise that if you ordered 2 DNA tests from your own Ancestry account and included a bundled membership when ordering those tests, only one membership will be included with that order, associated with your own account. The bundled membership will only be active on your account. If you included both kits in the same order then rest assured that cancelling your own membership should be all you need to do. Your friend should only have a membership if one was ordered via an account under their own name and email address. If the latter option is the case, we would recommend they give us a call at +61 800 979 547 so we can review their account with them and assist them with their cancellation if needs be. Very difficult to cancel subscriptions
The website and information I’ve obtained using iit is great. But to cancel a subscription, you have to jump through hoops. Navigating their website has sent me going in circles. Telephoned the customer service, then was advised to email them. They make it very difficult to cancel csubscriptions. Other than that I’ve found the website very useful.

Has been useful but an issue preventing DNA results becoming available could not be worked out after paying for 2 Tests. Searching for an adopted parents real relatives was not possible. This was extremely disappointing

Research unavailable to view
Have been a member on and off for years. My gripe is after spending years and lots of money researching including DNA testing, much information is locked until you pay more membership. This information should be available to view as I have done the research, not Ancestry. Also many records are inaccurate in spelling making research difficult at times.

While many record images are only available with a membership, the information you have saved from these records is still ready to view with a free account, and the records are also still attached to your tree.

This lets you see all records currently attached to your trees and their full images; our live support teams would be happy to help you set this up, if you're interested. I have been a financial subscriber to Ancestry for a long time. I use Ancestry information with Family Tree Maker (also for a long time). Both programs work well together. To print a family tree is easy using the FTM click and point method.
