My first DNA submission wasn't successful (DNA couldn't be extracted) which is odd. I had to submit a 2nd sample (the 2nd kit was free). Other than that hiccup the process is smooth with updates.
Interesting result. Most as expected. I know one of my ancestors (great great grandfather) came from Hanover in Germany but no German in my DNA. Can't figure it out. Must investigate further.
It's great, carrying a treasure trove of resources, and straightforward to use. Obviously the more clues you have the easier it is to pin down records, but it's also easy to cross-check the references... Vis mer

Useless for finding ancestors
It didn't find the ancestors I was looking for.
When it did find an ancestor whose details I already knew, I selected it and was asked to upgrade! They seem so insistent on demanding money from users.
I used this site about 10 years ago and it was much better. It seems so clunky now. Waste of time

Shocking
Shocking! Unable to speak to anyone because the phone numbers are all incorrect. Requested a dna kit and waited over 8 weeks to be told that, "there wasn't any dna" in the sample that we sent. How can this be??? Waiting for replacement kit that is yet to be received, almost 4 weeks on and still not received.
THE worst company that I have dealt with is my entire life!

I sent a DNA sample 4 months ago and I've paid for a membership, and the only hints I've received is who my mother and Grandmother is.
I grew up with these ladies so didnt need their hints.
Its just a rip off

These results include an overview of your DNA Origins and a list of DNA matches (living relatives who share DNA with you). I am extremely disappointed
I am extremely disappointed. I was expecting a paper copy, not digital. I am 86 years old. I cannot access the results.

Hi Wendy and thanks for reaching out to us. We're sorry for any disappointment you felt upon not receiving a paper copy of your results and are eager to address this with you.
We would like to clarify that Ancestry is a paperless company and therefore once AncestryDNA results are ready, we post them into the test owners Ancestry account. We're sorry if this was not your expectation upon embarking on this journey and for any frustration caused. We're afraid no test results are sent through by mail and would like to explain why. It is important to remember that AncestryDNA results change over time. Mailed DNA results could capture a snapshot of DNA results at a certain point, but they would quickly be out of date—especially DNA matches, which are updated whenever new matches take the test. Mailed results also wouldn’t reflect any updates we release to ethnicity results. By posting DNA results online, we can deliver updates in real time and add new features as they're developed.
If you have a family member or friend that can help you access your results online, they can download and then print the results off for you so you can read them on paper. Again, we are very sorry for any disappointment caused and hope this is of some help.
