Great customer support.
I ordered a DNA kit, but it unfortunately didn't arrive, even though DHL said it had. I contacted customer support and was very well helped by Tiago, who ordered me a free replacement kit, gave me one month of the Pro Tools subscription, and provided a step-by-step guideline of the tool for my troubles. Very good service.

I was unable to access my DNA test results
I received an email that my DNA results were in when I clicked on 'Explore Your DNA Results' it took me to the Ancestry website selling DNA tests. There was no where I could access my results so eventually after trying multiple ways I rang Ancestry & a link I was sent to me to change my password but it wouldn't work & eventually a code was sent to me & that didn't work & after a few attemps it timed out & I was told to ring back in an hour. By this time I was was so stressed that I didn't call back, instead I asked AI what to do & everything was sorted in minutes. NOT IMPRESSED. The results are interesting & 2 people have shown up as close relatives & I know that 1 is a 2nd cousin once removed & I've sent a message to the other relation. The hours spent trying to access the results was frustrating & I've seen that it seems to be a common problem which I'm shocked that such a huge company can't rectify.

We're not sure exactly what was the cause of the confusion here but are glad to hear that you eventually got it sorted.
We apologize for the difficulties you faced with the password reset process and the security verification codes, as well as the delay it caused when you reached out to our support team. Do not buy the DNA kit
Do not buy the DNA kit, its an absolute scam! I received my results today and they didnt tell me anything AT ALL. The results stated it could only go off my parents and that my ancestry locations were the midlands and that is only because my grandparents were from there. My parents weren't and i am not. I purposely didn't enter much information into Ancestry. My Dad is from jewish italian decent, nothing was picked up. The results of family traits that they are supposed to discover through my DNA are the questions they asked me to complete whilst my sample was being tested. Even they were wrong. Ancestry suggest light eye colours come from both parents, fair hair etc however my dad is obviously dark eyes and hair. Then when i started adding my family into Ancestry, i received updates suggesting that my DNA has picked up my locations are further! Coincidental considering i inputted it. It doesnt even give you any additional ancestors names, the suggestions are ridiculous 5th cousins 8 x removed and done even share a common ancestor. Its literally told me nothing, absolute waste of money. It will only work if you have inputted ALL your ancestry for them to copy the details. As i had already put in that my grandparents were born in sedgley, wolverhampton, Dudley and wrexham. It gave my locations as midlands and 1% wales. I was 77% Birmingham. Myself and my parents have never been there. It suggests a family trait is that we hate dancing yet me and my mum are both dancers. Seriously its crap. It doesnt tell yiu any traits at all, its the answers i gave whilst my sample was “being tested”!

Your ethnicity estimates reflect the deep genetic regions passed down over hundreds of years, which often don't align directly with where recent generations like your parents were born. Because genetic inheritance is random and recombines with each generation, it is also very common to inherit varying percentages from specific ancestral lines, or even miss certain regions entirely, especially if those heritage traits were smaller percentages in your family line. Even with a perfect knowledge of the history of your ancestors, DNA can still show some unexpected results. We each inherit 50% of our DNA from both our mother and father but exactly what 50% we inherit is random. We do not get an equal 50/50 split of all of our parents' DNA. This is known as genetic recombination.
Regarding DNA matches, Ancestry compares your sample against millions of other members to identify shared DNA segments. While anyone that is 4th cousins or more might not be a relation from a recent shared ancestor, any closer matches are definitely related to you. If you have not received many closer matches, this is because they haven't taken the test yet. As more and more people take the test, you'll continue to receive new DNA matches. We are the market leader in the field of consumer genomics so provided our test is available in the country your family come from, you are guaranteed to receive new matches.
We understand that seeing Traits results that don't match up to what you know about yourself can seem odd initially. It's important to know that your Traits results take a peek inside your DNA, rather than as a definitive prediction about your traits. If your trait result says you have curly hair, but your hair is straight, for example, the markers we looked at aren't “wrong,” they just don't tell the whole story. Most traits are influenced by many genes, some of which we don't even know about yet. Environmental factors can affect your traits, too. As science progresses, more of your trait predictions may line up with your DNA, but they will never all align. I completely forgot to cancel my free trial membership and was charged, but I contacted one of the human agents and asked for a refund. It was quick and efficient, with no problems at all, and I got my refund. Great customer service, and I’d happily recommend them to anyone.

Paywall after paywall
I find the large number of £13.99 paywalls that have to activated monthly, an over-busy website trying to interest the user in activating these paywalls and the fact that the 1921 Census is not available to be major drawbacks. Unless your interest is solely DNA, there are easier to use, far cheaper websites available.

I've been using Ancestry for more than 20 years and it has helped me develop an amazing picture of my ancestral origins. My tree is still being built and I never cease to be surprised by the people I find and the places they came from.
The array of recorded information is unbelievable. The Ancestry App can be used on a mobile phone which is useful too when you're away from home. It's the best Family History program on the market in my view.
