Best gym in Bournemouth, great views & friendly members of staff, wish it was open all year round!
The New Milton Rugby Club (NMRFC) team bonding exercise held at WDG proved to be an exceptional and unforgettable experience for all participants. This stood out as a well-designed, engaging, and effective activity for fostering team cohesion and collaboration.
The organisers did an outstanding job in planning and executing the event. They provided clear instructions to all participants in advance, including the required attire, schedule, and objectives of the exercise. Upon arrival, the participants were greeted with enthusiasm. The motivation talk was right on the mark.
The facilitators displayed professionalism, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for team development. They managed the event smoothly, keeping the energy levels high and the focus on the objectives. They encouraged active participation, ensuring every team member felt included and valued throughout the entire activity.
The NMRFC program was carefully designed to address various aspects of team building, including communication, problem-solving, collaboration and trust-building. The activity involved a series of challenges, each strategically chosen to require a combination of individual skills and collective effort. These challenges ranged from physical tasks geared toward thinking under fatigue, ensuring engagement from participants with diverse strengths and abilities.
NMFRC yielded numerous positive outcomes for our team. Firstly, communication significantly improved as team members learned to listen actively and express their ideas effectively. Secondly, problem-solving skills were put to the test, encouraging thinking and teamwork. Throughout the challenges, trust among team members grew stronger, fostering an environment where individuals felt comfortable taking calculated risks and relying on each other's strengths.
The exercise also highlighted and developed leadership qualities within the team. Some team members naturally stepped into leadership roles, while others discovered their leadership potential during the activities. The opportunity for emerging leaders to shine further motivated team members and fostered a sense of empowerment.
We are working really hard to integrate the senior and colts section which can prove difficult at times. NMRFC effectively broke down existing barriers within the team, fostering a sense of camaraderie and unity. Participants who had previously struggled to collaborate found common ground and learned to appreciate each other's unique contributions.
In conclusion, WHG was an excellent team bonding exercise that surpassed our expectations in every aspect. From the seamless organisation to the engaging activities and overall positive impact on team dynamics, this event left a lasting impression on every participant. The experience not only strengthened the bonds among team members but also provided valuable insights into individual and group strengths, ultimately enhancing our team's performance and cohesion. We will be looking to add this to our annual calendar.
I highly recommend WDG to any team seeking to build a more cohesive, communicative, and high-performing team - although not in our league:-). The event's thoughtful design, combined with the enthusiasm and expertise of the facilitators, ensures a memorable and transformative experience for all involved. To Leo, Jack and Pat thank you:-)
Great experience with an awesome Team. Can’t recommend this highly enough to any group or organisation looking to build a cohesive team. 10/10.
Doing this as a crew/team bonding experience ended up being one of my top experiences. We gained a lot from this as a team but also as individuals - personally & professionally. It’s boosted my motivation in bettering myself as well as being a good team member & leader.
For 48 hours we definitely felt like we were there for longer with how much we were taught in this time. Our exercises included safely clearing buildings, using specialised equipment such as night vision goggles, bush survival, situation awareness, soft skills, self defence, the importance of communication, relationships & holding yourself accountable. The Staff/Team leaders were highly professional and personally I feel I gained the most from this experience from the discussions we had. I could go on but I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking to elevate themselves or their team & I would sign up again if ever given the opportunity.
Thank you so much for having us, it was an incredible experience!
It’s a truly unique experience that is meticulously planned to provide the fun, pressure and challenge to forge a high performance team
Absolutely ace experience
I loved it from start to finish. The guys certainly push the individual to their limits but at the same time allow you to enjoy the whole beasting experience. Would I do it again? Yes in heartbeat
I was lucky enough to take a group from my local bootcamp to Who dares gyms in February this year.
From the off Leo was able to Identify our needs and tailor his bravo one presentation to our audience, whcihc consisted of males, females and teenagers.
The presentation was out of this world highlighting the hardships that the UK special forces endure to get where they are.
We then went to the beach where we were given a team building evolution. This was an outstanding experience and was enjoyed by all.
I cannot recommend this enough for any business or group
I did a Who dares gyms bootcamp, it was tough but also great fun. I loved the car pull which I'd never done before. You always get encouragement to push yourself a bit harder, so I felt like I had a great workout. I walked about with a real sense of achievement and would recommend them to people seeking a challenge.
What a great day !!! never been pushed so hard in all my life, but the encouragement from the staff/DS was incredible. Definitely recommend this for team building. Anyone that is crazy enough, wanting to try and match your fitness against the elite special forces of the UK. 10/10 The staff might look scary, but they are a smashing bunch of lads.
I’ve been to many gyms around the world through my work and I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed with this set up.
To begin with the setting is idyllic, it sits on the beachfront with soft sands and blue shores.
The equipment is extensive and there is plenty of it to ensure you achieve a thorough workout.
Finally and most importantly, the staff members are very knowledgeable and they give you their time, showing that they care. They ensure you are comfortable with what you are doing. They have an an extensive range of expertise with evidence and results based approaches.
I spent 3 days at this gym, which I can highly recommend to anyone. I felt that it was challenging, rewarding and that my programme was bespoke, all at the same time.
Truly incredible weekend experience with the team at Who Dares Gyms. Sheer professionalism from the staff running the event.
The event was designed to push people and it massively exceeded all of my expectations. A fantastic insight into the mental and physical fitness needed to operate in the Royal Marines and Special Forces.
I took so much information from the experience. But also learnt so much about myself and what I am capable of doing when put into uncomfortable situations. I would recommend the experience to anyone as it is specifically designed to give anybody an insight into military life and mindset.
The gym facilities are exceptional and the view across the sea when working out on the bikes or rowers can beat the view of any indoor gym in the country!
I had the absolute privilege of attending OP Commando 2 over the weekend. What an incredible event, hosted by extremely knowledgeable and caring instructors who clearly love what they do. Honestly could not recommend this enough to anyone trying to better their mindset and mental resilience for any walk of life.
You’ll push yourself more than you ever thought you could and you will learn more about yourself than you thought possible!
Absolutely 10/10 experience! Couldn’t recommend enough to anyone!
WOMENS SELF DEFENCE
This was a truly fantastic workshop on Bournemouth Beach for both experienced martial artists and complete beginners. It's full of informative and useful practical applications that can be used for real life situations. Lio was a patient, kind and generous instructor who is full of genuine skill. Passing on his experience and years of highly skilled training. It was an enlightening experience like so many of the classes and events that Who's Dares Gyms run. All the staff are highly proficient, professional, motivational and friendly. As a martial arts practitioner and instructor myself its been an absolute pleasure training with these guys for the past 4 months, they come highly recommended so don't wait get down there and start training now!
Always go here when we’re back in Dorset. Amazing gear letting you get a top level workout in, on the beach! The staff are super friendly and helpful, there’s always new things to try if you want. What’s not to like?
At 36, I’m too old to join the Royal Marines so I decided to attend the Op Commando weekend to experience the Corps and improve my mindset. Having struggled with self-belief my whole life, I have always admired anyone with a tough mindset and strong physique but thought I was only capable of achieving the latter. However over the past 4 years, my health and fitness progressively declined as I lacked the mindset to stay focussed. I was therefore apprehensive about not being as strong as I used to be however this made completing the course all the more rewarding and enabled me to realise a tougher mindset is achievable if you try and it is that which enables physical strength. I have therefore gained confidence and the drive to take my health and fitness seriously again.
The Directing Staff from both Civvy 2 Commando and Who Dares Gyms along with guest speaker Phil Campion are inspirational role models with a wealth of knowledge and experience yet an incredible amount of humility which meant they were encouraging and open to questions. I was equally inspired by the capabilities of everyone on the course and feel lucky to have met so many amazing people. Though the majority of them considerably younger than myself, they had just as much of a positive influence on me as the staff and I am certain they will all go on to exceed their potential.
If you are considering the course, it will highlight your current level of fitness as well as other strengths and weaknesses so you know what to focus on improving as well as teach you invaluable skills for training and/or life. You don’t have to smash everything, just don’t give up. If you want to be there, your mind will get you through along with the encouragement and support of everyone. You won’t care about what you look like (horrendous) or compare yourself to others, all you will be focussed on is grizzing it out by putting one foot in front of the other which are the most useful lessons I will take away from this weekend (along with “don’t be weak”).
I can honestly say it was the most amazing experience and well worth the investment. I would highly recommend Civvy 2 Commando and Who Dares Gyms to anyone who is either considering or in the process of joining the Royal Marines or like me, has a genuine interest in the Corps and a desire to improve your state of mind in order to become a better version of yourself. That is, someone who strives for Excellence, has Integrity (which includes the ability to be honest with yourself), Self Discipline and Humility. These are the values of the Corps.
Op Commando
Situated on Bournemouth Beach, at Who Dares Gyms. This course blew me away, I haven’t stopped talking about it since coming home. I was so impressed by what the course provided and included, despite being over what felt like a very short weekend, the time passed so quickly, so we must have been having fun!
The information shared by the staff was second to none and we had a real taster of what the marines & SAS life is like. I am grateful to the time and effort behind the scenes that the all the staff completed (including Who Dares Gyms, Civvy2Commando, the Busby Brothers and Big Phil & to anyone else I have missed), as well as during the weekend to ensure we had the ultimate experience. There was no silly questions and I have a deeper respect for the attitude and integrity of which these men condoned themselves during their time of serving.
From start to finish we were immersed in training life. Learning how to orientate ourselves, work as a team, the importance of the Commando ethos and not forgetting the absolute thrashings - not only physically enhancing our ability but also our mindset.
Another point I loved about this course was that it was so inclusive - there was a varied age group from 16 to 54, people from all ethnicities, as well as being open to men and women.
I came away having learnt more about the history and running of this prestigious military sector, as well as having learnt more about myself and my ability in the face of adversity. I currently work in the NHS & would consider myself a good leader and communicator, I have definitely come away with a new attitude to the skills required for good leadership and team work and those with medical conditions.
This course is invaluable for anyone wanting to join the military as the skills are transferable to the different forces and gives you insight into your training path for application.
Even if you don’t want to join the military but have an interest or you want to challenge yourself and see how far you can go, this course is also for you.
If you aren’t sure then just think - the only failure is never doing it!
I feel very privileged to have attended and would do it all again in a heartbeat.
I attended the gym for the ‘Op Commando’ weekend and honestly I’ve got to say it was one of the most valuable experiences of my life so far.
I learnt so much in such a short space of time and met so many people that made the experience so much better.
What makes this ‘bootcamp’ different to others is that yes you are pushed to your absolute limits but we also did a lot of learning that you will not be able to learn elsewhere which was extremely useful.
I would 100% recommend anyone to visit the gym or even go for the bootcamp, you will not regret it one bit.
Attended Who Dares Gyms for the Op Commando course (in collaboration with Civvy 2 Commando) and was blown away by literally every aspect.
The facilities make me want to move away from the
Midlands just so I can train at Who Dares Gyms daily – they’re really that good. The knowledge, expertise and wisdom imparted by the staff is incredible; I was amazed at how much information was delivered in such a short space of time, whilst still being comprehensible and easy to understand. Leo’s knowledge and experience is really worth its weight in gold. And of course, the fitness training was second to none; both in terms of the workouts and the reasoning behind them.
The value delivered in only a few days was unreal. A huge thank you to Leo, Dave, Ryan, Harry, Phil, Jack, Pat and the rest of the team for an incredible experience. I’ve left the course a better person.
I’d unequivocally recommend Who Dares Gyms and the Op Commando course for anybody who wants to join the military (particularly Royal Marines or UKSF), get fitter, enhance their mindset or for anybody who thinks “self-improvement” is a good idea.
OP Commando.
What a weekend! I've met an amazing bunch of people from all walks of life, some in various stages of RM training, others came for the experience. Every single one of them had the Commando Spirit in abundance.
The staff had a wealth of knowledge and did a fantastic job putting together a course to challenge us all both physically and mentally. They pushed us to push ourselves, and each other.
I've learnt so much in such a short space of time, but also gained confidence and an ever growing support network to help me through my training, and whatever comes next.
I would recommend the course to anyone who wants to learn invaluable life skills and to realise just how Courageous, Determined, Unselfish, and Cheerful in the face of adversity they really are.
