The hygiene of farnborough village gym has become an all time
Low , showers don’t work due to limescale an mould everywhere , sauna and steam room always filthy with god knows what people leave behind , gyms dirty messy , staff are useless

By far the dirtiest changing rooms I’ve ever been in at Walsall Village Gym. Absolutely disgusting. If this is how they clean the gym, imagine the hotel! The 3 months notice to quit the gym has got to be illegal!

Several years ago, my partner wanted to try them for 1-2 months; we explicitly asked for a rolling contract and were assured this was what it was. When we wanted to cancel it after 2 months, they told us we would need to pay for the rest 12 month contract we signed, they tricked us!

Now I'm trying to cancel my own contract, and apparently I need to give them 3 months' notice! 3 months! My work needs 2 weeks' notice, but bloody gym needs 90 days! Bunch of scammers!

very pleased with PiIates studio and ongoing range of classes . Recently going to sauna and pool - both well maintained .Staff are helpful and pleasant .appreciate the introduction of easier system of cancelling a class at short notice . I have been a member for 26 years . I live nearby and walk to gym and therefore dont have to deal with the frustrations of parking .

I have been a member for almost a year at the village gym in Caversham, Reading. I enjoy the many classes they have and the space in the gym too. I like the vibe there and the swimming pool is my favourite place to go with my kids some weekends. I have always found Hannah a very pleasant and helpful staff member. I also want to shout out to Ian who helped me with weights and showed me the equipment when I felt a bit nervous about starting on them. Really kind staff members.

Complete chaos—avoid unless you love waiting around. The hotel is under heavy renovation, and driving here feels unsafe. Huge trucks constantly block the access roads and parking spaces, turning finding a spot into an absolute nightmare. To top it off, all the wheelchair spaces were full of cars with no Blue Badges displayed, and staff do nothing about it. Save yourself the headache and stay somewhere else.

Gym almost impossible to use due to them closing off at least half of the car park, plus disruption to gym equipment provision including relocation to non air con rooms. This is due to a refurbishment which is going on for several months to come. Customer service extremely unhelpful. I shall be pushing a breach of contract as the gym facilities and parking are not remotely what I signed up and pay for.

I went to have a look around the village gym this week. I was showed around by Nason who was very welcoming,helpful and knowledgeable about everything. Very impressed with the gym and classes and how clean it was. It was a very enjoyable experience,one I would recommend so much so I joined on the same day! 👌🏻 for a tour ask for Nason.

The vents above the showers desperately need cleaning and are covered in dust, looking like the dust could fall down at any moment. The shower partitions could be cleaner, and the showerhead design is terrible, spraying water onto the door and soaking your towel. The pool sometimes has debris floating in it. I also saw staff cleaning the drainage grates and pushing dirty water towards the pool, with some of it flowing back in while people were swimming. This was unpleasant and unhygienic. I am writing this review to publicly expose severe corporate misconduct, whistleblower retaliation, and the falsification of account data logs at the executive and local club management level of VUR Trading (Village Gym Ashton Moss).
After patiently raising documented hygiene and serious Health & Safety concerns (including staff working at height hazards) internally between 18 and 23 June, the local General Manager refused to manage the operational risks. While he admitted the failure in writing—stating, "I have engaged with our nominated contractors to clean and service these units and will hopefully receive a date for completion shortly"—the work was simply never done. Instead, he explicitly instructed me in writing: "If you do have concerns that you wish to raise with the EHO then please do this."
I followed management's formal directive and reported the venue to the Environmental Health Office (EHO). On 21 September, the EHO formally confirmed to me that their health and safety investigation into the facility was active and ongoing.
Exactly 72 hours later, on 24 September, local management punitively terminated my membership. They weaponised Clause 11.1.3 of their terms, textually stating that my ban was a result of sending "excessive emails" regarding "our Health and Safety practices and the EHO." Rather than addressing severe structural failures, they chose to penalise a consumer for cooperating with a live statutory investigation.
To compound this breach of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, management subsequently falsified central database logs to record this punitive ban as a "user-requested cancellation"—an explicit act of internal deception designed to mask their retaliation from head office and protect branch KPIs. Furthermore, they proceeded to illegitimately pull unauthorized Direct Debit fees for October despite blocking my physical access in September.
This corporate behaviour exposes the completely asymmetric nature of their operation: signing up online takes less than two minutes, but trying to cancel requires navigating a punitive 90-day notice barrier—assuming you can even get hold of Member Relations.
Yet, when it comes to covering up their own regulatory failures, local management can instantly terminate an account in 72 hours without notice.
The executive legal suite, including Philip Kreczak and General Counsel Kelli Turner, have been handed an ironclad pre-action timeline. A formal Subject Access Request (SAR) has now been deployed to extract the back-end database audit trails. Full files are being advanced to Trading Standards and the HM Courts & Tribunals Service (Small Claims) for statutory breach of contract. Disgraceful, deceptive corporate behaviour. Avoid this chain at all costs.

Dont know where to start, i signed up just shy of a month ago to Cheadle Village Gym and i have nothing good to say. The workers are rude in “Every Aspect” The Gym states they close at 9pm during weekends so tell me why if i turn up at 8pm they try to kick you out at 8:40 not only about the times you, No kindness involved whatsoever woudlnt even let you finish your workout even when it comes 8:45. You pay 50 a month for the whole gym yet your not allowed in certain studios even though they come in your package, The small guy with brown hair, glasses wearing checkered vans clearly doesnt want to be there even though its his work space comes in swearing and complaining the weights arent in their original spot even though its his job to make sure they are.. Ive have tried to cancel my membership and you need proof of losing your job/a sick note from the doctors or relocation from 15 miles+ to be able to cancel but if you cant provide then your annual membership remains until you have paid every month what an absolute “JOKE” you would like to think they give u a heads up when they are moving stuff around or taking machines away..well no turned up the other night to see the main gym is pretty much empty with no heads up or warnings how on earth are you meant to do a full workout without the equipment that should be provided as you a paying to use them!! If you are thinking about coming here and paying the extra per month to use sauna/steam room/pool etc dont bother the place is an utter disgrace and i hope it goes beyond the point where they have to shut then doors for GOOD!!

I’ve been a member at the village gym Basingstoke for over 2 years now, and while the equipment and facilities are great, it’s the staff that really make the place—especially Sharon (everyone knows her as Shaz!). She is easily one of the hardest working people in the building. You will constantly see her keeping the gym floor and changing rooms in top shape, which makes a massive difference when you’re coming in week after week. But beyond that, she’s just an absolute ray of sunshine. No matter how busy she is, Shaz always greets you with a warm smile, remembers your face, and takes a second to check in on how your day is going. After 2 years of training here, I can comfortably say she’s a huge part of what makes this gym feel like a welcoming community rather than just a place to workout.
Shaz is a legend—give that woman a raise!

I have been a member at Basingstoke Village gym since 2020 and really value it. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. I try to go to the gym and swim afterwards twice a week. It is helping me keep fit. I use the steam room and sauna and the new cold bath. I recommend the Village Gym at Basingstoke.

The most appalling cancellation service I’ve experienced. I pay very high prices for the area and extra money for a flexible plan. Come to cancel due to moving and told it is THREE MONTHS notice!??? So they are taking almost £200 out of my account for an unused service after almost FIVE YEARS of loyalty despite their constant issues with the pool. Disgusting service- I will never be a member again.

I would not recommend taking out a subscription with this gym at all.

The date agreed to start and confirmed in writing started a week earlier. When I wanted to leave despite giving more than the 3 months required notice I wasn’t allowed to leave at the end of 12 months as it was part way through a month, despite being allowed to join part way through months.

I joined under corporate membership and surprise surprise that ran out at the end of the year despite them insisting that my membership needed to continue for a further to weeks.
