The charge of Tenso is high
The charge of Tenso is high. I am a regular uses of this website, one day i asked them for the domestic service, they never replied. It's impolite at all. I thought people in Japan should treat customer as the first priority.
and I dont know why they use big boxes to ship my small goods? so to get higher air rate? I think they should be more caring about saving $ for customers.
A long time customer of Tenso
I'm a long time customer of Tenso, I've been using their service for several years. They provide excellent customer service. I really like how they take good care of our packages, they always arrive in good condition. I will be even more happy to see if they can do some promotions in the near future, such as giving a discount on their services.
A reliable service
I'm very glad tenso's services exists to let the buyer have full freedom to purchase from jp shops and have them delivered to their location. The fees are generally reasonable for this service, though I do wish they provided more economical options overall. Unregistered options such as for SAL Small Packet would save me around $4 per shipment and would 100000% improve their outlook in my top recommendations for proxies! I understand they don't want to take the "risk" that comes with unregistered options, but many of the other proxies I use DO offer this and I have never had issues with them despite hundreds and hundreds of packages sent unregistered. Also, since tenso requires the packages to be registered, someone has to be present to SIGN for the packages when they arrive which is also a nuisance, tbh. Yeah... Other than that, their service is definitely reliable though, so I will still be using them in the future. Thank you!
Terrible Experience, will not use their services again
My experience with Tenso overall has been terrible. In summary, I do not recommend anyone to use their services. I had many issues and inconveniences with my Tenso shipment from Tokyo to Sydney, leading to a delay of about a month from the time they received my package to it being shipped out.
Initially I had to send several emails requesting Tenso check that my package had arrived, even though it was more than a week (approx. 10 days) after the company I bought my product from said it had been delivered. Many times, Tenso could not confirm shipment.
Then Tenso initially told me the shipping fee would be over $2000 AUD. This is for an 18Kg shipment, but they quoted me as much as half as much as moving a small apartment shipment from Japan to Sydney. I did question this but Tenso said it was correct, so I then had to find a friend living in Tokyo to see if I could ship it to their place. I asked Tenso if my friend or I could collect the package from the warehouse in Tokyo when I visited next, to which Tenso said would not be possible. I asked Tenso again to check the dimensions as my delivery company confirmed they should be small enough for the regular shipment methods. Tenso checked and incorrectly overestimated the dimensions again, and told me again they could not use their regular shipping methods, and told me it would cost approximately $800 AUD to ship via DHL. I verified dimensions from the company I bought the product from again, and forwarded the dimensions again to Tenso. After some persuasion Tenso checked again and this time confirmed you had made an error in measuring the package dimensions (I can't imagine how), then gave me a more reasonable price for DHL shipping, although still saying the package was too big for their regular shipping. So finally I paid for DHL shipping and was issued an invoice. However Tenso made a mistake on the invoice and so after charging to my card, they then cancelling my Visa credit card charge for the already paid invoice, and requested I pay a second invoice (which I had to wait for the cancellation on my Visa card to come through first before paying). Finally I received my package after about a month of delivery to Tenso. Imagine if I had accepted the initial estimated shipping quotation and paid $2000 without questioning further?
Finally I raised all these issues experienced with Tenso, to which they apologized but offered no compensation whatsoever.
Save your money and ship with a more reputable company.
Service rate is getting higher
I change to Transbang due to consolidation fee and service rate is much cheaper there. And it turns out they process orders even faster!
good until...
Address label got missing, shipped back and now asked to pay return fees.
Reason for return: Unknown address
Returning fee: 16501 JPY
They claim that Japan Post is still investigating though (for what?)
"And if you would like to ship the package again. You have to finish the payment again."
Horribly slow and expensive
Horribly slow and expensive, shipping estimates not remotely reliable.
Paid for " AIR/Registered Small Package"on 5 July (Thursday), estimated time 4 business days. I had 13 days left in Singapore before leaving, so I thought hey it'll make it here in time. Nope. Instead of shipping it on Friday (I confirmed and paid on Thursday night before), they waited till next Monday afternoon 5.40 PM, which made it effectively a Tuesday ship. Would've been fine if it still took 4 business days. BUT nope. Arrived 18 July. 8 business days later (not counting a weekend which wouldn't affect how fast ships travelled). That vessel spent 7 days on the ocean! These ships follow a tight schedule thats been running for years, they would obviously know if the ship is expected to sail for 7 days! Yet they dared to quote me 4 days. They took 2.5 business days just to bloody send out the package, what on earth were they expecting? Not once did they reach out to me to inform me of anything.
Ended up having to forward the package from Singapore to Australia, which costed slightly more than what Tenso charged me to ship to SG. Spent ~$110 AUD/SGD on shipping in the end. Marvellous Japanese efficiency.
Would recommend
A great and reliable company. They're my go-to for shipping items from Japan.
My items are always packaged well, and they're quite timely if you pay for what you ask for. For me, I nearly always use EMS, as my stuff usually arrives to my address 4-5 days after Tenso ships. My items have been late only once, and Tenso did inform me the circumstances behind it (typically weather issues while it was making its way to the US).
I have yet to receive any packages with damages or any that were wet, considering your items are cushioned quite well in the boxes. Though in my case, the items I buy are books. In the event your name listed on a shopping website is slightly different (in katakana or whatnot) from what is listed on Tenso, they do make sure to mark it down so their workers don't get confused. I would send a heads up beforehand just in case, though.
You get to consolidate your items, particularly if they were purchased from different websites or were purchased during different times. That basically means you can submit a request for those items to be packaged into a single box, which you are charged for, but it's better than paying for a bunch of separate packages that might show up at different time intervals. Consolidation for me usually is around four dollars, but to be fair, I buy light-weight books.
All in all, worth it.
Should Have Been Better
The whole thing began with my purchase on Amazon JP. I bought two hairbrushes and a shampoo (from different sellers) set for they were having special offers. I delivered hair brushes via Tenso, and had Transbang to deliver my shampoo. However, the shampoo arrived at my place two days earlier than brushes even though brushes were sent to Tenso earlier than the shampoo was sent to Transbang! Not that Tenso is not a good service, but I reckon Transbang will be my only choice in the future.
A TRUSTWORTHY JAPANESE FORWARDING COMPANY WHOSE ULTIMATE SECURITY YOU CAN TRUST AND COUNT ON
ALL MY PACKAGES WHICH REACHED TENSO.COM WERE UNOPENED, AND THUS THE PRIVACY OF THE PACKAGES WERE STRICTLY MAINTAINED AND PRESERVED EVEN DURING THE CONSOLIDATION OF ALL THE PACKAGES. EACH PACKAGE WAS ASSIGNED A DIFFERENT PACKAGE NUMBER BY TENSO.COM LEADING UP TO THE FINAL CONSOLIDATED PACKAGE, THUS MINIMISING AND, IF POSSIBLE, ELIMINATING THE COMPLETE SUSCEPTIBILITY TO MISTAKES DURING CONSOLIDATION AND EVENTUAL SHIPPING TO THE ADDRESSEE IN OUTSIDE JAPAN.
ALTHOUGH TENSO SHIPPING CHARGES COULD BE A TAD EXPENSIVE IN SOME RESPECTS, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO CONSOLIDATING PACKAGES, IT CANNOT BE DENIED THAT IT IS ONE OF THE MOST TRUSTWORTHY FORWARDING COMPANY IF YOU THINK UTMOST PRIVACY IS A HIGH PRIORITY TO YOU.
ALTHOUGH TENSO.COM IS AN OLD HAT, ITS DELIVERY SERVICES ARE THE MOST RELIABLE AND SECURE, HAVING BEEN IN THE INDUSTRY FOR OVER 15 YEARS. ALL SHIPMENTS AT TENSO.COM ARE DONE BY JAPAN POST.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR THOSE WHO VALUE COMPLETE PRIVACY, RELIABILITY, AND SAFETY.
Great Service
I have been using Tenso for last 9 months, they are reliable and respond pretty quick. I have no problems with the shipments so far, customer support is great except sometimes it take time to understand the whole procedure but they are very polite and helpful. The charges might be higher but I can save money from somewhere else, Tenso and Buyee really give me hands to shop in Japan, Keeps up!
Fast and reliable
Every time I use Tenso, they are really fast. I think the consolidation fees are a little unfair because they charge for each package while Buyee is the same flat price for three or more. Still, I always get what I ask them to ship, and usually it comes within a week (EMS). I will continue to use them.
Tenso is good until they damaged your …
Tenso is good until they damaged your item and you want to file a claim. They denied responsibility and made you go to your post office to do the work. I paid for EMS with insurance and yet they refused to file a claim on their side. Not using them anymore.
Fantastic Japanese Forwarding Service
I wanted some earphones on Amazon JP that are only sold in Japan (no global shipping to the UK). I had heard good things about Tenso on Reddit and decided to give them a go. The sign-up procedure is relatively straightforward (you do have to provide a form of ID to prove your address, but then this is a legal requirement in Japan to prevent fraud). The step-by-step instructions of how to get Amazon.jp orders forwarded to you are very simple. I bought the headphones on amazon.jp, and they were delivered to the Tenso warehouse the next day. Tenso email you to tell you you have a parcel - and you select a delivery service and you can pay the shipping via PayPal. I received my earphones in the UK within 4-5 days. I have used them again since and would recommend them to anyone looking to save some money by buying from Japan or buying things you can only get in Japan.
I have never experienced this much hassle on one simple shipping mistake...Tenso made it so complicated.
I have always been using Tenso service for forwarding service, but after this experience, I will avoid using Tenso ever again.
Tenso is fine, until there is problem with your missing or returned package. Tenso's procedure and policies are very by-the-book. You will see what I mean.
I ordered a package to be shipped from Japan last year, and the package was returned to the seller. There was no postal notice from my local postal service at all, so I called my local postal service about this matter.
My local postal service told me that recipients have no right to file any cases, it would have to be the sender filing a simple form to have them compensate shipping expenses. They told me that it would as simple as "just explain the situation". So I had to e-mail Tenso and asked if they could assist in this matter.
Tenso refused to contact my local postal service directly. Instead, they had Japan Post "investigate" about my order. By investigate, they had Japan Post look up the tracking log of my package. After waiting for 4-5 months, Tenso finally e-mailed me back that there was a result. The tracking log indicates that "the recipient was left with a delivery attempt notice", but at the wrong address. Tenso just told me that since "a notice was left" indicated by the tracking log (even at the wrong address), the package "was not returned improperly", and they would not be able to further assist me.
I was not able to get any money back, and they basically told me "if you want your package to be tracked more properly, just pay more". The problem is, this case was not even a problem with tracking!!! Even if I paid for a more expensive tracking service, it would not been able to avoid the postal service putting the delivery notice on the wrong address!!! So Tenso did not actually understand the problem at all.
This case wasted me a lot of time trying to explain and it did nothing. I am not saying Tenso made this mistake, the local postal service definitely did it, but this case would have been handled in much simpler way.
Amazon, eBay, and even AliExpress handles this in much cleaner and problem-free way. I have never experienced this much hassle on one simple shipping mistake.
Tenso do reply all of your inquiries and complaints, which is excellent. They do read your e-mails but as you can see, they make really poor judgement and they don't really understand their customers.
I would not recommend using Tenso unless your package is huge and you would be willing to pay a service that delivers to your door in person.
Tenso is Legit and Fast
There are a lot of Japanese forwarding companies out there that claim to be better than Tenso. Just think about it. Why do they want to use Tenso as their pedestal. It's because Tenso is not only the largest but the oldest Japanese mail forwarding company in Japan. Tenso is able to ship large items like an air humidifier. They are also able to send alcohol to certain countries. They can even send laptop computers with lithium batteries inside. Yes, they are more expensive than their competitors. But they are faster and can ship more varities of goods than their competitors. They offer surface mail, SAL, airmail, and EMS. In terms of surface mail, SAL, and airmail they register it. EMS already requires an addressee signature. They accept PayPal and now they accept credit cards that can pay in your home currency (with certain limitations). I always purchase stuff from Amazon.co.jp and send it to Tenso to forward it to me. Been doing it for the past year. So, use Tenso. They're located you Tokyo. Central location to all of Japan. You won't regret it.
