Superprof is less of an educational platform and more of a subscription trap designed to catch busy students off guard.

I signed up for one month to message a specific tutor. They then buried the 'auto-renewal' terms in a welcome email and—here is the kicker—sent a renewal notice only one day before the charge. This isn't 'customer service'; it’s a calculated tactic to ensure you don’t have enough time to cancel before they take your money.

When I contacted their support (specifically regarding the lack of notice), they gave a robotic, scripted response essentially saying, 'We got your money, too bad.' They have zero interest in customer satisfaction or fair business practices—they just want the subscription fee for a service I haven't even used since the renewal.

To anyone considering this site: Save your money. There are plenty of other platforms that don't rely on cheap, 'dark pattern' billing tactics to make a profit. I’ve already initiated a chargeback with my bank and will never use this platform again. Absolute bottom-tier ethics.

Easy way to find good teachers, and get one-on-one instruction. I think the one-on-one is fantastic through the video calls and it has helped me learn faster!

Tried to find someone to give lessons to my daughter. Contacted two people. One increased their advertised rate 25%+ and the other changed the lesson to online despite offering in person lessons. Despite these key changes Superprof customer service claimed they had accepted my offer so I was charged. Had to go to my credit card company who sided with me and gave me my money back.

Easy tu use as a tutor and interaction with students is very smooth.

I was able to find a teacher who lives nearby and who can come to my house. I have since purchased a package of lessons.
One question: I had to pay $49 and was wondering exactly what that is for, since I was told the first lesson is free.

Website failed over and over. Never loaded properly. Tons of visual errors, not obvious help.

Great website for tutors that want to expand their reach and marketing to find new students!

Scam of a company. They take no responsibility for their tutors. Absolutely disgusting.

I am beyond disappointed with my experience on Superprof. It is shocking that a platform of this scale is unable—or simply unwilling—to validate a clear version of events during a dispute.

It is not the user's responsibility to fix your internal failures. By choosing to ignore my side of the story, you have proven that you do not care about the integrity of your reviews or the safety of your community. Your platform suffers from a massive lack of credibility and a complete absence of transparency in how you handle conflicts.

If Superprof cannot act as a serious, impartial mediator, then it has no business operating in the tutoring industry. Potential students and tutors deserve to know that if something goes wrong, this platform will leave them stranded without a second thought

Following my initial complaint, Superprof's customer service reached out and finally resolved the situation. While the initial experience was frustrating and lacked transparency, I appreciate that they eventually took accountability and fixed the issue. I am updating my rating to reflect this resolution.

Always my best tutoring website

The system is good. My wife had a great swiming class. But 50$ on top of 80$ for 1h of class is toi much.

We had an excellent experience using Superprof to find a math tutor for my daughter. Her tutor was exceptional patient, knowledgeable, and very supportive. Since working with her, my daughter’s math skills and confidence have improved significantly.
The rates are also very affordable, which made it accessible for our family. I’m so happy we found this online resource, and it has made a real difference in my daughter’s learning. We will definitely be using Superprof again in the future. Highly recommended!

Update: after replying by email to their comment they have refunded the membership fee.

I signed up for Superprof because I’m trying to find a technology tutor for my grandmother, and unfortunately my experience has been disappointing.

To contact tutors, I first had to pay a $50 membership fee. After reaching out to about ten tutors, only one accepted my request. That already made the membership feel difficult to justify.

What was more frustrating was discovering that the advertised “free first lesson” only applies to online tutoring. Since my grandmother needs in-person help with technology, the first lesson will cost $75 ($50 subscription plus $25 per hour tutor fee). The total cost to simply try one lesson feels extremely high.

I think the platform could be much clearer about these details upfront. The membership requirement and the limitations around the free lesson were not obvious when signing up, and the overall experience felt misleading.

I like the idea of connecting people with tutors, especially for seniors who need tech help, but the pricing structure and expectations should be more transparent. I would be happy to update this review if the situation is addressed.

I believe Superprof is an excellent platform to find committed students.
