Overall, Amazon is good but it has lost some business to Walmart. I love how Amazon has breadth of products and invented the 2 day (and 1 day shipping), along with good customer service. However, I must say that they are lagging behind Walmart lately. Why? First, their search results show expensive options and are not as accurate. Sorry, I don't want to spend 2x more than I want to... so what do I do? I go on Walmart first and use its search results that are accurate and cost efficient. Then I price compare with Amazon. (I used to search on Amazon first for everything, but this changed to Walmart due to the expensive and sponsored items that come up and aren't very useful for most customers that want VALUE not necessarily the most expensive.) Second, Walmart's delivery is much faster, usually within 1 day of ordering as opposed to Amazon that has been taking more than 2 days - I am located in a major city. Walmart impressed me with its same day and next day deliveries, while Amazon takes at least 2 days unless you pay extra for same day. Third, Walmart has an in-store pickup and/or drive-up option while Amazon doesn't really have much presence and if it does, it's not as convenient. Fourth, Walmart's customer service is faster (no wait time online) and much more generous - with Amazon, their customer is good but I had a time when they gave me trouble for returning an item (historically, I return less than 1% of items). In the past, I would shop with Amazon like 9 out of 10 times online, but this is now changed with shopping at Walmart 8 out of 10 times and Amazon 2 out of 10 times. The 2 times with Amazon is usually because they still have better selection overall for more harder to find items. Nevertheless, Walmart is picking up REAL speed in surpassing Amazon in levels I did not see coming. Amazon has to really improve its search results... this is the greatest thing that has impacted my spending habits. My searching for products goes like this Walmart -> Google -> Amazon -> Target

I ordered two items. They were supposed to have been here april 20 and it is now apr 25. I called customer service and they have refused to refund me let alone replace it. They said parcel was scanned as delivered yet i have gotten nothing. Ive asked my neighbors and they havent gotten anything as well. worst experience with amazon.

In it for themselves - the way that they run Amazon Smile is awful - it's supposed to help charities through donating 0.5% of each eligible (whatever that means) purchase to charity. The reality? It's hard to find any mention of Amazon Smile, it's fiddly to activate and if you do activate it on your phone (as most purchases and browsing is through mobile devices anyway) you are FORCED to enable notifications, which means Amazon can advertise to you on your phone whenever they like. So far £14 million donated to charity? Given that amazon's profits were over 23.6 BILLION pounds for one year in the UK alone, that's not even loose change as far as the company is concerned, or not even 0.06% percent of their profits.

I don't know why it's maligned by many. Great experiences on my end with Amazon, every time. If ever AT ALL there has been a problem with an order, Amazon has rectified it. The fact that I NEVER have to worry about not being satisfied with my purchases... how can you go wrong? Most of their stuff comes with extrodinarily fast shipping.

While maligned by many, Amazon comes through. Deliveries can be in less than one day to no more than a week. Amazing. Especially when you can't find the product locally or something you may not even know existed. The variety is endless and prices are acceptable when you consider free shipping. Amazon complies with delivery instructions and products are handled with care. Tracking could be improved by real-time display, but, generally comes within the specified time frame. Delivery times are a bit overbroad for routine routes, but, this is forgivable for overall performance.

It's amazon. Meaning it's cheap and fast. You go Besos!

Usually when I order, there is no problem what so ever. but in case there is , they will make sure it will be resolved. and even offer some compensation for the inconvenience. really pleased!

For 9 months now I have had problems with Amazon Drivers not delivering my package at my home! I still have issues with the drivers NOT DELIVERING my packages to my home. When Amazon get their Logistics right then they will be A 100% BEST EVER! THEIR DELIVERIES STINK...VERY POOR!

All Amazon emails contain tracking pixels. Also known as web beacons, theses secretive codes are embedded in all Amazon emails and are designed to collect IP address, device and browser details, etc. Unlike cookies, there is no request for customers' consent.
After years of reports to Amazon customer service, domain registrant, admin, tech and abuse departments, no one bothered to even respond. After complaints via public boards, only things I heard are PR statements, repeated with cut and paste, over and over.

Amazon for the most part dose a fine job overall, like there hubs delivery 📮great, home delivery had nothing to be concerned about, products good no problem with the cheaper products or ect as a prime time plan it does save on shipping if you do a good amount of shopping with them, one thing I am not a big fan of is being Amazon Prime member it would seem that you would have more benefits with this kinda misleading like free music, movies, but you try to download the app and there some sort of problem with it like extra money or app just don't work but anyway overall great service.

I've had an Amazon account for over 10 years. In the past I've had problems such as unknown packages coming to me that I never ordered. In those packages were things that included adult toys, clothes, iPhone accessories, ect. The clothes were way too small for anyone I know to be able to wear. No one I know has an iPhone. Why would I want adult toys? I contacted Amazon cs multiple times and they assured me that this would stop. Well, it did. When I moved in Sept. Then in late Nov, I'm reviewing some of my previous purchases and some get accepted but the rest were rejected and then I get an email that basically says my ability to post reviews and engage in the community has been revoked. All 200+ of my reviews were then deleted from Amazon. I've tried to contact Amazon about this and am only told to review their community standards and then after talking to the 100th or so chat rep, I get an email that tells me to provide proof that I didn't make my account to just make reviews, that I'm not affiliated with anyone I've bought from, that I'm not getting free products in exchange for reviews, ect. I replied to said email and asked what proof would be acceptable and got a reply stating they wouldn't be replying to any more emails. I made a complaint with the bbb asking for clarification on exactly what I did to get my reviewing ability banned and was once again told the community standards and possible reasons for the their decision, not the actual reason. I have the emails and will attach them if given the option.
Edit: I did a Google search for recieved random Amazon packages and one of the results was a news outlet story about something called a brushing scam and it basically said it's a form of identity theft cause someone opens an Amazon account in your name with your address to bolster their sales numbers. So, that's why I haven't gotten any more random packages since I moved.

I tried to registre a seller's account on Amazon, but despite a number of attempts of uploading the required documents, I never succeeded in having their system approve them.
The system did not give much information about what was wrong, and as I see that all the documents I uploaded fulfil their list of requirements to them. Trying to contact Amazon, I got an email stating that they could not approve my documents, and that I could open a case by writting to 'trms-siv-sesunoir[at]amazon.com'.
This turned out to be waste of time, as the answer only said that they could not tell what was wrong, and would not answer any more of my emails.
This mail was clearly written in advance, and as such, it did not relate to the specific question I asked. It just suggested that I consulted the forum and had other sellers help solve the issue.

To me it appears that Amazon has tried to automate the registration process to such a level that it no longer functions, and that they are too arrogant to use the resources needed in order to provide the proper help for those that need a bit more guidance.
This leaves an impression of Amazon being a rather cold and heartless company that has been totally cleaned of any human elements for profit optimization.
But as a consequence of this, you will loose the business I could have driven to your side, as well as received this less than optimal "recommendation" of your service.
I consider both aspects to be an opportunity lost, due to you not taking proper responsibility for handling your customers with the proper respect and give them the guidance needed.

Following a recent purchase, I went to review the product and got this message instead:

"We apologize but Amazon has noticed some unusual reviewing activity on this account. As a result, all reviews submitted by this account have been removed and this account will no longer be able to contribute reviews and other content on Amazon. If you would like to learn more, please see our community guidelines. To contact us about this decision, please email..."

I tried to contact them using the email they provided, and they didn't even bother to respond. My wife got on chat with customer service, and they said they'd had a system-wide issue that affected a number of customers and they would fix/reset my account. If the issue was true, you'd expect they'd send out an email apology to all affected accounts. And if you can't isolate which accounts to do that, you send out an email/press release to ALL accounts. Even game developers do that, but Amazon couldn't be bothered.

That was over a month ago (well before "holiday shopping season" was over), and nothing's been done. So either she was lied to about the system issue, lied to about fixing my account, and/or they haven't bothered to try to address the issue. Pathetic.

Questionable products
Do not buy Auto parts from Amazon. Sellers claim genuine products, though the boxes are unsealed and inside bags do not have manufacture's logo. Customer service is for PR cut and paste stock phrases only.

I cannot trust anything from Amazon anymore!!! I suspect a lot of the products are fake or the products are rejects from the original companies. Received defective batteries, books, supplements, you name it! I am canceling my Prime for next year. I am done. I would rather have quality products that I spend my hard earned money on rather than getting junk in two days.

Amazon disguised it's philanthropy through unwanted marketing. Amazon has a program called amazon smile, where part of your purchase can be donated to a charity of your choice if you opt into the program. However, Amazon only allows you to participate in donating to these charities if you have your notifications turned on, which allows Amazon to send marketing messages--a suggestive sales technique. If you turn off notifications, amazon turns off your ability to donate part of your purchase to charities.

They censor honest negative reviews of users who purchased on Amazon the product they're reviewing (I can generally only post positive reviews, anything negative is usually censored, usually with a vague, generic list of possible reasons, none of which apply), allow dishonest/fake reviews of users who didn't (happened with one of my books and happens constantly with unreleased products), and ignore reports of such reviews (I still have dishonest/fake negative reviews of my books from users who never bought nor read them despite multiple reports).
