It's taken us 6 weeks to set up this card for my dad's carer. It's very complicated and involves uploading lots of documents, which then fail and have to be sent in. The card took 2 weeks to arrive in the post and has been difficult to get it to work once we received it. Involving multiple trips to the cash machine to try and activate it. I think we've realised that if you try to check the balance at a cash machine it will reject the card and tell you to contact the card issuer. We've finally got it working but surely there must be simpler cards out there. The app is also not available outside of the UK making it tricky as my sister lives overseas.

A much-needed service and great support
Sibstar provides an invaluable service, it has given my uncle, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, some level of independence back after his bank had to remove his access. As his attorney, it's easy for me to control everything through the app on my phone, and keep and eye on what's going on. Signing up was straightforward and the Sibstar support team helpful. I've contacted the team by phone and email on a few occasions, and each time the support has been friendly, helpful and rapid.
The options to be able to set spending limits on the card have proved useful, and work well.
There have been a few issues though, which is why four star rather than five. (i) His local ATM is at the local Post Office. The first time he tried to use the card access was denied. Luckily I was with him, and on phoning Sibstar customer support, we learnt that the Post Office have not signed up with the service. Luckily there was a second machine at the nearby Co-op, which worked perfectly. (ii) I've hit a few bugs, the most annoying being logon to the app with face ID, which frequently doesn't work. So I have to refer to the password details. A small inconvenience though, compared to the benefits of using the card!

Exactly what was needed!
This was exactly what I needed to make sure my mum retained some independence when she was no longer able to manage all her finances. It is straightforward to set up and the app is easy to use. Support is there when needed , and excellent. Would recommend to anyone in a similar position.

Had the card for mam for about 2 years. Support staff excellent, always a very quick response. Really good app with quick options if a problem such as lost cards which is case today. Can't really fault it if I'm honest.

A great card to protect the vulnerable
I can’t rate this card highly enough.
It’s been so good for my aunt who has vascular dementia as we have the settings on for no phone or internet transactions. She has tried to give out her card to various callers who have tried to make her some some scrupulous service over the phone but the Sibstar card won’t allow it.
The customer service received has been great too when setting up the card.
Would really recommend for anyone wanting their loved ones to retain some independence but also be protected.

Complicated
Most likely due to being one of their first customers but I've had to cancel the account after 6 months. The administration has been complicated from the start compared to known providers. The latest example is in being assured 10 days ago our account had been closed and funds returned but it hasn't. From a Dementia perspective, Nationwide have been able to provide the same service for free with a joint account, hassle free.

Only recently had the Sibstar card for…
Only recently had the Sibstar card for my mother who has dementia.
It’s now peace of mind that the continuous scammers that are forever ringing her can’t get at her main Bank Account.
The staff at Sibstar were really helpful in setting it up, I couldn’t ask for more.

Excellent Support Team
Some initial teething problems with the App and card, but these were quickly resolved by the customer support team. They also took the time to explain why things had gone wrong, and were very patient and understanding in the face of my sorry lack of ‘tech savvy’.

Overall I would highly recommend
Overall I would highly recommend Sibstar. I haven’t found any other bank card that can offer the flexibility and controls that the Sibstar card and app provides.
If the tech on the chip could be sorted, so that the pin could be reset just by putting the card into the trades people’s machine, rather than taking it to an ATM each time, I would have given it 5 stars. The first card didn’t provide this function at all and the replacement card only worked for a week or so. Sometimes my friend is in a restaurant and it’s very embarrassing not to be able to pay and when flustered she doesn’t have the capacity to know what to do next. Mercifully there are a lot of understanding traders on the High Street.

Finally a solution
i tried two other banks to facilitate a carers trusted person card and none offered the flexability on Limits and expenditure that Sibstar do. Customer service is always quick to respond.

Really satisfied with Sibstar. Have been using it for a year to manage the payments for someone for whom I am a carer. It is proving an excellent tool and easily managed on my smartphone.

A company that really understands old age and which provides a brilliant product to support families managing money for their relatives.
Sibstar is a company that really understands the financial needs of the old and those who care for them.
The card and control through the Sibstar app has worked brilliantly for our family over the last year or so. It gives peace of mind for us assisting our 86 year old mother who is losing hers.
The personal attention and customer service has been excellent from Sibstar. I believe the product represents excellent value for a small monthly fee and is a bespoke solution for families looking to help their older relatives with managing money.
The set up process was easy. I would recommend getting a Financial and Property Power of Attorney in place in advance, that can be done online through a government website, that process can be quite lengthy.

I found details of the card on Alzheimer's UK. I found setting up very easy with the friendly and helpful team to advise me. I can now manage my husband's spending while still retaining his independence.

Utter shambles
For a bank card supposedly to help those with Alzheimers, we've experienced norhing but stress. The card arrived, but the pin didn't work. We were told it hadn't been activated by Sibstar. Tried again, this time we tried to change the original pin to a personal one - and the response was we couldn't use a supermarket atm, so I went to the next town to Lloyds atm. Guess what? Pin denied. This went on from 16 Aug to 27 Aug - with no resolution. Apparently the tech dept and accounts dept had no idea how to resolve it. I asked for a new card to be sent so we could start again- Apparently this wasn't possible.after repeated calls and emails - whilst dealing with my mother who has Alzheimers, I finally told them to cancel everything and close the account. I'm absolutely disgusted. If you need a stress free life, do not use Sibstar
