Absolutely frustrating experience with…
Absolutely frustrating experience with RightSure.
I took out a van insurance policy which was approved and active for several weeks with no issues. Everything was confirmed over the phone and I proceeded to insure and use my vehicle as normal.
Weeks later, I started receiving multiple daily emails demanding proof of No Claims Bonus (NCD) for a second vehicle. This made no sense, as my policy clearly shows No Claims Bonus as NIL, and I have never declared any NCD.
Despite providing full documentation from my other vehicle confirming that I also have no NCD there either, they continued to chase me and then advised I must call them to “update the policy” and pay an additional premium.
This feels like a complete breakdown in their internal processes, or an attempt to retrospectively increase the premium after the policy has already been agreed and in force.
I have refused to deal with this over the phone and have requested everything in writing, as I do not accept any changes without clear justification.
Very poor communication, constant automated chasing, and now pressure to increase the premium without evidence of any error on my part.
Would strongly advise others to double-check everything and keep records of all communication when dealing with this company.

Having reviewed your case, we can see that you instructed us to cancel your policy after it was established that you have zero No Claims Bonus (NCB).
When purchasing the policy, you advised that you had 8 years’ NCB from another vehicle. We confirmed by email that proof would be required to validate the discount, and this was also confirmed by both you and your wife during a follow-up call. We allow customers 21 days to provide the requested documents.
We sent a follow-up reminder 14 days after purchase, which you provided documentation for the following day. However, this showed that 0 years’ NCB applied. We advised that your premium would be updated to accurately reflect your amended circumstances.
We’re sorry to hear that you feel our communication did not meet your expectations. Our follow-up process is designed to give customers sufficient time to provide the required documentation.
Following this, you chose to cancel your policy, which was processed in line with our Terms and Conditions.

Fishing Out Customers who want a Good DEAL and Charging Admin FEE without providing any service!!!
I received an email from Confused.com offering me an insurance policy with RightSure. The quote was much cheaper than my renewal price, so I decided to go ahead with it. RightSure then charged me £124.31 as an instalment.
A few days later, on 7 April, an agent from RightSure called me to confirm my details. During the call, he asked whether my van was a 5-seater. I explained that it has always been an 8-seater. He then told me that I must have misunderstood the offer on Confused.com, as RightSure does not insure 8-seat vans. This came as a complete surprise to me.
The agent also informed me that, although only a few days had passed and the insurance was not due to begin until May, I would still be charged £85.
I will be reporting this to ombudsman.
I believe there are strong reasons why they should not do so:
They are unable to provide insurance for my vehicle at all.
This happened within the first week, and the policy had not even started yet.
I genuinely did not realise that the Confused.com offer listed the wrong number of seats for my van.

As stated in your review, your policy was cancelled due to incorrect information being confirmed at the time of purchase.
When refreshing your quote on the comparison site, the information you had previously entered would be presented to you to confirm the information provided is correct or make amendments if anything has changed. Having reviewed the data file that is sent from the comparison site, we can confirm that 5 seats were confirmed at the time of quote and purchase.
We validate policies to make sure the information provided is correct. The correct information must be provided to any insurance company. Had your policy been allowed to continue unaltered, you could have faced serious problems in the event of needing to make a claim. It is better for you if we check your information at the start of your policy so that if you need to make a claim, it can be handled swiftly and without delay.
When you bought your policy, you agreed to our Terms of Business and confirmed this by ticking a box. The terms state there is a cancellation fee of £25 if you cancel within 14 days, or £55 if you cancel after 14 days. There is also a £60 arrangement fee. All fees are non-refundable. Cancellation fees are in place to cover some of the costs we incur in setting up policies that are cancelled through no fault of our own. We keep this as low as possible and only apply it to cover genuine costs.

The price and level of cover was good
The price and level of cover was good, however I was selected for a data check without explanation which was unusual, plus my policy started with a one month cover note which again I found unusual in that after 54 years driving I had never experienced before when taking out car insurnace.
