I sent my omega watch repair for a…

I sent my omega watch repair for a battery change ,.After over a month I started getting concerned.I was informed that everything was good and then they said it is with omega? and needs more work ?.From £110 to £1000
So I asked them to return the watch which was a task in the end my watch was returned and the battery was replaced and the watch works fine at the cost of over £40.00.Moral of the story they don’t repair your watch they sent them away so if yo have a high end watch use the watch manufacturer not the middleman

Your 1970s vintage Omega watch required specialist attention that could not be provided in the UK. This necessitated sending it to Omega in Switzerland, which you authorised after we guided you on the expected costs. Upon receiving the official Omega estimate of over £1000, you decided to decline the work required. Such costs are not uncommon for rare vintage watches needing extensive work.

Upon your request, the estimate was declined, and the administration charge was paid by you.

We are pleased the watch is currently working, but we advise you not to rely on this, as the necessary repairs were not performed and it was the reason it was sent to us initially.

We are sorry that your expectations did not match your understanding. However, the service we provide to find a solution is far superior to any brand, even if the watch is with them or repaired by us. We understand your confusion and appreciate your feedback. Watch Repaired to a very good standard

Received Quote and Watch repaired to a very good quality as per my estimate all within around a month start to finish. Not cheap.... but I would recommend and your repair is tracked through the whole process.

Over all excellent service

I would give 5 stars but the initial delivery was a bit delayed although this was not their fault. I found the service excellent. you have to remember that a watch is incredibly complicated and an initial quote might prove insufficient once the technician gets into the task. You wouldn't fault a car mechanic for a similar process. In my case what seemed like a simple battery change turned into a full service. That's just the way it goes sometimes and ultimately I have a lovely usable watch back that was just junk in a drawer.

Atrocious service and company

Atrocious service and company, avoid aviod aviod you have been warned. He quoted for my watch which I thought was slightly pricy but thought I wanted it repaired and it was cheaper than to replace it so I went ahead.
Then once they had it they wanted to charge me double what they quoted + the original quote so 3 times the original quote I could of brought a new watch of the same cheaper!!!
Again avoid.

Avoid like the plague!

What an absolute shower. I turned down an estimate that was over £100 dearer than a comparative and then received a rude, patronising email implying I couldn't afford to have the job done. It took 3 further emails to get them to agree to send my watch back - and then they charged £19 even though the original quote said it would be £9 for a return! Avoid like the plague!

Very persistent despite being told I didn't want to proceed

I wanted the glass in my watch replaced and asked for a quote giving all the details requested except I could provide a photo at that time. In the space of a couple of days I had five emails and a text, despite telling the company after the first couple of emails that I wasn't going to proceed and not to contact me again.
Despite me not providing a photo the company emailed to say they could repair my watch followed by a further email to tell me the number on the case back was wrong (it wasn't). At the bottom of the email asking I that I send the watch to them for an estimate for the repair (which I repeat was simply for a new glass so I can't think why a quote couldn't be given for something that simple) it mentions if the estimate isn't acceptable the watch will be returned for a minimum fee of £9. So at least £9 to get my watch back. Having read other reviews on Trustpilot I will certainly be going elsewhere. The company may well be reputable and competent but I'm not prepared to risk it. I'll live with the scratched face.

Update. Repairs By Post in response to my posting say "We have not received any emails or other communication from you and would have discontinued communication as requested". This is not correct as I have a copy of my email dated 15th March at 14:39 saying "I have decided not to take this matter any further, thank you". Despite this I received further communications 0n the 16th and 19th March.

Reading the reviews…

Everyone complained reading the reviews that the company changed hands last year, but it is the best experience for a watch repair anywhere I have had.

I was a little apprehensive, but after speaking to the team, I was reassured, plus, I knew my watch was covered by my insurance, just in case, But there was no need to worry.

They repaired my expensive Rolex, They received it the next day after I sent it using the Free post. From there, it was just a great experience. Communication was great throughout and reasonably priced.

I can say I trusted them 100%. I always read negative reviews, but, the negative reviews here do not reflect how good this actual company is and I applaud how good they are.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Sent my wife’s Rolex to them in February 2023, they repaired it and returned it to me in May with 1 year warranty . My wife only wore it a couple of times and said it was losing time. At the beginning of this month (Dec) I contacted them and told them of the issue. I sent it back and they came back to me saying the issue was caused by magnetism and there would be a charge to fix it. I refused this as far as I was concerned it was under warranty. I checked with another repair company and explained to them and they informed me magnetism would make the watch gain time and not lose time which was what was happening
I then heard nothing for couple of weeks and yesterday they emailed me and said as the company who done the original repair had gone into liquidation they could not honour the warranty but could fix it for a fee!
I asked them to return the watch they then said there would be an administration fee of £49.99. Had no choice so had to pay to get my watch back.
They should have informed me when I contacted them that the previous company had gone into administration .
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Disappointed.

Disappointed.

Sent in photos of my watch and a description of the problem. They then told me that the news was good, and that they could fix my watch!

I sent in the watch, and they told me they couldn't fix it, despite the original claim that they could. Apparently they carried out a "comprehensive movement assessment", which is odd,because it was a smart watch, that didn't have a movement.

They then charged me £15 for returning my watch.

A complete waste of time and money

Too expensive for any watch worth much under a grand.

I have mixed feelings as to the experience. I had a watch worth approx £100 second hand (if it was working) RBP kept sending me emails to encourage me to send my watch in. They could not give me a guideline cost until they looked at it. When I sent it in they quoted me £230 for a service. I queried the cost and they said the 'movement' was comparable to a Tag Heuer. I feel that I could have saved me the time and postage had I know how much a 'service' cost as it was clearly more than double the value of the watch. Maybe the movement of this average watch has the insides of a Tag Heuer but somehow I doubt it! Just feel I have wasted time and money and back to square 1.

Repairs by Post changed a watch battery for me in 2022 and provided a 24month warranty on the battery. The battery ran out after 12 months and now they wont honour their own warranty.
Apparently Repairs By Post went into liquidation and has been bought over by a different parent company, who have relaunched Repairs by Post. They now wont honour their previous customers warranties! No surprises with that business model why they went into liquidation.
