Criminal Law 101 Course - What is involved within it
I have recently undertaken the Short Course of Criminal Law 101 at Online Courses Australia and I can say that the information that is categorised under each topic is very informative and very beneficial for students wanting to expand their foundations in the area of criminal law.
However there are a few things that I must point out:
1. The course of Criminal Law 101 is entirely structured upon the United Kingdom (UK) legal system. If you are interested in learning about Australian Criminal Law and Procedure, this course probably isn't the one for you.
2. Some information is relevant to the Australian legal system such as the case law that is portrayed throughout the course in which Australian lawyers will apply to legal arguments if needed. For example, (Woolmington v DPP) is relevant as it explains the foundational roles of the Crown and Defence in a trial. But the specific legislation such as the Criminal Justice Act and Theft Act that are spoken about through the course is for the UK only, not for Australia.
The only feedback I would provide to Online Courses Australia is that it would probably be best to include Australian Case Law and aspects of the Australian Criminal Justice System and the laws that govern it so that when student's finish the course they will have a qualification that be of use to legal employers and a solid foundation of knowledge when entering into the legal profession.
Otherwise, very interesting and informative.

Misleading theives
enrolled in a course with Online Courses Australia believing it would support employment in veterinary assisting and help me progress toward vet nursing. I was not told the course was non‑accredited, and I never received proof of enrolment or access to course materials. When I raised concerns, OCA maintained they had provided the correct information, even though the the details I received during enrolment were unclear and implied outcomes the course cannot deliver. The Training Ombudsman confirmed they cannot assist because OCA is not an accredited provider, so I now need to take the matter to QCAT. Based on my experience, I would advise others to be cautious and ensure they fully understand what they are signing up for. Sign with an accredited training provider. This is how they get around taking peoples money.
