My Lake District Booking

My experience with OPL started when I booked a 3 night stay at the Rothay Garden Hotel in Grassmere for the beginning of September. The booking which I made in April, was easy and straight forward. I found the information on their site gave an accurate and honest description of the hotel and its terms and conditions relating to the package offered. I was particularly impressed by the sections entitled "Home Truths" where they outline the pros and cons of each hotel to help you make the right choice. Our stay at the hotel went well and I would definitely use OPL again.

Really great deal that couldn't be beaten

I had a really great deal that included a nights stay at the Lion Quays Hotel, prosecco and muffins on arrival, entrance to spa (normally £35) and a delicious three course meal in the evening; and breakfast! I did compare prices directly and this deal couldn't be beaten.
I've left a review because I was worried it was too good to be true and reading some of these reviews convinced me to book. Glad I did!

A really positive experience!

Staff are extremely knowledgable,helpful and courteous. The only down side is the policy of losing your money if you have to cancel[for health reasons or otherwise] within 7 days of your booking. Perhaps in this day and age 2/3 days might be more appropriate

Very friendly and efficient. I needed a groundfloor room which I couldn't book online and Julie contacted the hotel for me to confirm a suitable room was available.

Friendly helpful

After not being able to complete my booking online I used your telephone service. This was excellent, answered straight away( no queue) by a very helpful efficient person ( not a chatbot or menu options) I found this very refreshing in this world of continually growing AI . It was so appreciated to talk to an actual person who completed the booking in a friendly professional way.

I have used off peak luxury several…

I have used off peak luxury several times to book our luxury stays and I would fully recommend the company. Not only are the prices very competitive the customer service is exemplary. Especially if I have had to change booking dates. We will definitely be booking with them again in the future thankyou

Just the agent so no support!Had an apalling stay at a 'luxury'…

Had an apalling stay at a 'luxury' hotel and OPL's response was that they are just the agent so don't expect support if things go wrong.
Hotel room was crumbling and filthy but neither Hotel nor OPL took any responsibility. Avoid.

As soon as you contacted us with regard to your complaint we contacted the hotel on your behalf.

We do apologise for the length of time that it took to receive a reply from the hotel in question, which we did chase, and that you were unhappy with the response from their senior management team.

In accordance with our terms and conditions, we act as a booking agent, and therefore any complaints do need to be referred directly to the hotel to see if a suitable resolution can be found.

We value feedback and do all we can to resolve matters to our customers' satisfaction and we're sorry this has not been the case on this occasion.

Booked a 'so called' Luxury one night…

Booked a 'so called' Luxury one night stay at Charingworth Manor for my birthday but the room and service were terrible.
The bedroom floor was wet and there was a leak coming from the under the floor in the bathroom.
To make matters worse the Hot tub was cold and then after the maintenance man adjusted it was then dangerously high (40) so was still unusable.
Just when we thought nothing else could be wrong, my wife was having a shower when the shower rail fell down on her while she was opening it after a shower!
When complaining to OffPeakLuxury they just referred me to the hotel who did not want to issue a refund.
By using OPL to book it appears to make it more difficult to complain or get a refund.

It's disappointing to receive a 1 star review.

Whilst staying with the hotel you mentioned that the hot tub temperature was too cold. As advised by the hotel at the time, this is the temperature set during the summer months.

However, the hotel did accommodate your request and increased the temperature of the hot tub, to which you advised it was then too hot.

As part of the package booked through us you also received a bottle of Sparkling Wine, Two course dinner, breakfast and a late checkout.

We appreciate there were parts of your stay that you were unhappy with but perhaps did not warrant a full refund as you requested.

The General Manager addressed the points raised and as a gesture of goodwill waived your outstanding bill for £84.50.

We thank you again for taking the time to provide your feedback

Terrible customer service

I was given that £270 voucher as a gift from my parents for my 40th birthday in April 2021 whilst we were in lockdown. I was planning to use it for my next birthday 1st April 2022 which already meant so many months of the valid period were lost. However, I contracted covid in December 2021, I ended up getting long covid (extreme exhaustion and heart palpitations) and then I began having seizures and there's an ongoing investigation but the belief is that I have a condition called POTS as a result of the covid jabs. I couldn't have driven there during this time and wasn't well enough either. I spoke to a representative Kirsty who informed me if I'd called when before it expired I could have been provided an extension. I had memory loss from the fits and wasn't aware there was an expiry period on it so didn't do this. I explained I would be happy to ask for my medical records as proof of the above but they point blank refused. This was really upsetting considering the situation and staff were not remotely understanding.

Firstly, we are sorry to hear of your poor health.

It is extremely disappointing to receive your 1 star review. Our terms and conditions have to be rigid as they are the same for all customers and we are unable to do for one that we wouldn't do for another due to the terms stated clearly at the time of booking and on the voucher in question. It is stated very explicitly on our vouchers that they won't be valid after the expiry date.

I can see that the voucher was valid for 18 months, from 28/03/2021 to 28/09/2022, and as long as the voucher is redeemed before the expiry, the stay can be for anytime in the future.

We had no communication from you, your parents or sister prior to last week, 2 years since the voucher was purchased and 6 months after the expiry date. Had we received any correspondence before the voucher expired we could then have offered an extension of 12 months for a small fee.

We are not aware of any competitors who allow vouchers to be redeemed after they have expired.

Amazing value and a lovely stay!

Highly recommended! I was a bit sceptical, as we managed to get a deluxe room, with a 3 course meal and breakfast for as much as the room alone direct. But I was soon put to ease with the friendly communication after booking, confirming details. We were able to bring our dog and had a beautiful lake view room. Our meal was lovely too. I'd definitely use again. Thank you.

Superb communication and problem solving

I was trying to use One4All vouchers as part of my purchase, and having had issues on line the Customer Service team were great and helped me secure the booking I wished. It took a week to resolve, however they kept me up to date and did a great job of resolving the issue. Without the complication of the vouchers this would have been smooth sailing. I'm glad that Clare who I first spoke to on 12th May was the person who was finally able to sort the order out too, a week later.

The service was prompt and efficient

The service was prompt and efficient. The only niggle was having to downgrade because of bringing our dog and not being offered an appropriate discount. We fully appreciate that the gift voucher was for a more expensive room, but, having doubled its value by booking a second night, we would have expected to pay the lower room rate for that second night.

Belsfield Hotel Bowness-stunning views

Belsfield Hotel Bowness-stunning views, most staff were friendly & helpful. However we were unable to sleep due to extreme heat in room.we had window open & fan on, no help. Rang night porter & he was absolutely no help, this was after midnight. At checkout I told reception & they were not interested. No heartfelt apology or offer of discount. Spoilt the stay for us.
